  1. I heard his old contract was 3.5 million plus 2.5 bonus for staying up. With 3 and half years to run that is potentially 12 1/4 million plus salaries for his team. Allowing that his new deal you imagine was a bit better 15 million seems right. Of course he’ll be out on gardening leave if they have any sense leaving him with the choice of not taking a new job for 3.5 years or agreeing a deal. Still have to think this costs is at least 10 million. They might argue if we stay up it was worth it - though of course we will never know if would have stayed up without the change.
  2. He’s dreadful from what I’ve seen - Tarkowski is head and shoulders above him, and he’s on a free!
  3. Not heard any rumours on long term replacements - not even sure they had a plan for what they have done. Lots of things not quite adding up - such as stories now coming out saying they’ve been thinking about it for a few weeks - but 2 weeks ago the Chairman apparently did an interview due for release this weekend where he was supporting Dyche. My personal view is its a damn mess. Whilst I don’t agree with the decision on Dyche in any way, getting rid of the entire coaching staff is perverse and odd in the extreme. They’ve got rid of a goal keeping coach who has overseen 2 keepers rise to get into the England squad amongst other things for example. In essence they have ripped out the foundations of the club and we have zero continuity. Maybe that’s a good thing 🤷‍♂️. I honestly don’t think the owners get it, they’ve panicked. I understand the financial risk - as should they have done when they bought the club with money they don’t have. I for one cannot come up with a single name more likely to get a club, at least one like ours, promoted from the championship than Dyche. I hope to be proved wrong but can imagine him being appointed somewhere like West Brom next. It will be interesting to see if he can repeat his success. General consensus amongst my friends is the decision is a poor one - and also a classless one. We seemed to finally have built a solid base, something we could rely on - only to wantonly destroy it over one bad season. I genuinely fear for our long term future. I know that sounds like hyperbole but with something like 60-100 million in high interest debt to service if we go down and don’t bounce straight back insolvency won’t be many seasons off.
  4. Spoke to a couple of mates who are there - said it looked bad based on player reactions. Said one of our players vomited when they saw it.
  5. Historically I’d have been happy with big Sam but feels like he’s been away a while - does he still have the hunger? Yes I think we are down - but years of under investment in the squad are what has come back to haunt us. I think the board believe they can still stay up - which of course technically we can but realistically? Personally I’d have given him next season at least but I don’t make the calls - and some fans definitely wanted him gone. The lack of whispers makes me wonder if there has been a massive behind the scenes falling out? He’s done enough for the club to have been given another season to bring us up.
  6. Love Mee but no management experience at all. Dyche and his staff have over 3 years on their contracts - Dyche rumoured to be on 4 million a year! So not only a massive gamble but an expensive one.
  7. Not got a clue - people will suggest obvious ex player targets like Duff etc but I just don’t know enough about managers out there who are available etc - it’s a huge rebuild to be done though. Apparently the Under 23 coach and Mee in charge for Sunday
  8. Really weird timing - all his staff gone as well. Some club is about to get themselves a top top manager. I’m more than a bit gutted.
  9. Honestly prior to the leveraged buy out, when we had 60 million in the bank etc I won’t say I’d have welcomed relegation as you only ever want the team to succeed but a huge art of me would enjoy being back in the Championship cut and thrust. With the buyout though I worry about our future. We could easily be another Bury in a few seasons time. Or the owners might prove themselves to be astute and here for the long haul and steer us well but I just don’t see that as likely at all.
  10. But our wage bill won’t be that high - assuming we sell Cornet, Weghorst, McNeill and Pope - possibly Brownhill and Taylor will go as well. if those players don’t go we will still be well within FFP over the three year period as we haven’t made significant losses. Sunderland came down with lots of players on huge contracts, no relegation clauses etc. whereas we have Tarkowski, Mee, Cork, Rodriguez, Vydra, Barnes, Stephens, Lennon, Bardsley and Pieters out of contract. Will take 3 seasons before we fell foul of any regs - and by then if the owners have trousered the money FFP will be the least of our worries. I won’t say I’m looking forward to the seasons banter as I really can’t picture what our squad will look like right now and I fear it could be a very difficult season or 5 for us coming up.
  11. I’m not sure FFP is in anyway a concern for us - the last thing I’m anticipating is the owners throwing money in, quite the opposite. It all will come down to this. Money itself shouldn’t be an issue. With sales and parachutes there would be enough to satisfy the debts and build a decent team. But will there be enough for that and to satisfy the avarice of the owners? I don’t know. Are the owners really thinking medium to long term and ready to take the required calculated risks to achieve another promotion? On both these points I am doubtful and certainly not hopeful.
  12. You are right re the debt but on players not so much as 10 are out of contract, at least 5 will be sold, leaving a small core on manageable wages. I’m not suggesting success is guaranteed just it is more than possible but depends on the decisions the owners take re funds and management. The debt - which for clarity we didn’t ‘run up’ but was foisted on us as a leveraged buyout - doesn’t need to be a blocker, though I suspect the owners may well cut and run, sell what they can and bank the cash. But IF they can get Dyche to stay and give him some funds then we have a reasonable chance. in simple terms I hope for the best but expect the worst.
  13. Hard to be sure, we will have parachute payments of around £100 million to come, player sales of around 80 million and very few players under high wage contracts. More than enough cash to rebuild and go again. Will Dyche stay - after all he still has a nice contract with 3 1/2 years to run, will the board keep him and back him? Honestly don’t know - come what May certainly turbulent/exciting summer ahead. Personally would move heaven and earth to keep Dyche and hope the board feel the same.
  14. Some fans have delusions of grandeur. Frankly we will be lucky if Dyche is willing to stay, no one I’d rather see rebuild in summer.
  15. 😂😂😂 Love or hate Dyche he never changes. Publicly at least he doesn’t get excited during good periods or down during tough ones. I couldn’t imagine him criticising the players in the media.
  16. I sadly had to miss it due to work commitments, couldn’t make kick off. I treat myself to a now TV day pass, having got rid of sky 4 / 5 years ago. Gutted I missed it - my son in law said there was a lot of fans grumbling at half time but seemingly second half atmosphere was electric - which compared to City at the weekend is chalk and cheese, it was like a morgue on Saturday. I’m now debating staying away from games until we lose another one, I think I may be a bad luck charm 🍀
  17. Haha - quite right, our loss will be delayed a day 😂
  18. I’m honestly not playing this down but genuinely, I think this is the season we go down. Results like tonight are few and far between, we still need to win more games than we have all season.
  19. Well what do I know - not the greatest football but I’ll take the points and the fight. It really is the hope that kills you however I still think we will go down, most likely lose Saturday at Norwich as well.
  20. Everton will win comfortably on Wednesday. We have no fight in us and we can’t score. IMO the current bottom 3 will go down baring divine intervention.
  21. Definitely. It's funny because the 34 years thing was such a weight around our neck and every season it got heavier. When we finally ended it in 2014 the relief was fantastic. So much so that in the 15/16 season when there was still that "hadn't beat you at our place for 34 years" our fans finally realised winning the league was more important than beating you lot and most would genuinely take 2 hammerings from you if it was the price of winning the league. Now it's 12 years since you beat us and I know we'd love to keep that going another few seasons.
  22. Sounds like we both have a big rebuild ahead. You say no money but surely Diaz if sold will go for a good amount? Sounds like there’s a danger it could be a real, what was it, elcrapico, next season.
  23. As Stan Ternent famously said, a lot of Burnley fans have champagne dreams on beer money. I don't recall a single complaint when we finished 7th and "were going on a European tour" - or when we were Champions Of The Championship with an unbeaten run of 23 games spanning December to May - that also saw us finally beat you lot home and away. Since that 7th place season the board largely failed to spend and to survive our style has become increasingly attritional. I honestly believe Dyche is a pragmatist and cuts his cloth accordingly. Well yes, those 4 could easily bring in the dosh - and that dosh could be easily trousered. On the other hand they could fund a fantastic rebuild. We will only see come the summer.
  24. Personally yes - I believe he's the best option to rebuild and stabilise after a relegation. I know nothing is forever but Fergie staying at United so long didn't harm them. That said I doubt he will want to stay.
  25. Half the squad are out of contract, including Mee and Tarkowski. You’d imagine Pope, McNeill, Cornet, Weghorst will leave - possibly Brownhill as well. I doubt we will be much of a threat next season but keeping Dyche for me will be key, but I’m not certain we will.
