  1. Well, I'll finsih first in my league for two consecutive seasons.. VI.227, and now V.45 however this was a pathetic div V series, and I'm thankfully no where near autopromotion (even if I win my game currently on-going) so I'll get smacked in my qually, get beat out next year by a team that would have beat me this year if he hadn't taken 6 weeks off, and see where it goes from there...
  2. Oklahoma, sorry about the thumping in the Rovers Fed cup! Any feelings so far about the new wing changes, and the forward toward wing order? Personally I can't wait to really give it a run in the next few weeks... will be playing FTW and some magnificant offensive wingers in the next few weeks, so I hopfully I can get an increase over my typically high passable - low solid side attacks!
  3. looks like a decent candidate to me once he pops in experience. That solid main skill means he shouldn't be in your long term plans as a player anyways. Passable LS is pretty good, and means you shouldn't need a new coach for at elast 2 season, and probably closer to 4.
  4. From what I've seen, I think defending is easily the most profitable main skill to train, but only if you train in all 10 spots, which means playing 5 defenders for every game. Winning consistently with 5 defenders is a tough road to go down. Ceratinly you can try playing 4 defs in the league and 5 in the friendly/cup, but the loss of 1 training spot, IMHO, brings the profits for defense training back in line w/ PM and scoring If you did decide to go to defending, I might train PM a little more, and make sure you keep 2 IMs that would be strong enough to keep you competitive in MF vs. teams in your series w/ 3IMs. Then you can play 5 at the back, use only 2 IMs and still have some attacking options w/ switching your wing attacks about. And in a pinch, if you really needed to win MF, you can play 3 in the center as a change of pace... Being that versitile would make you much tought to beat.
  5. I may just be the weakest team ever to have a shot at winning a division 5 series in the history of HT.... Check out my series and my team, I'm not complaining, cause I'm glad I'm having a cakewalk to stay in div 5, but this is downright silly. USA series V.45 the only team ahead of me is a midfield only team, who I've already tied (due to some injuries on his part) and he'll be getting a nasty dose of CA from me when we last meet.... and I've got 4 CONSECUTIVE walkovers at the mid point of the season.... there's a reason why hatstats has my series listed as 255th "best" out of 256 series in USA div 5.... edit: oops we were 255 last week, we've "achieved" worst series status this week!
  6. That's a laugh pg! Thanks for sharing! Update on me, I was promoted automattically to V.45 in USA. There's one new team (just replaced in #6 place, but another team threw the qually), and a team that used to be in Div III, but now has only a coach and 1 other player, but still logs in... I should be competitive for a finish in the 4th through 6th spot, but #1 and 2 are probably way out of reach. @American - He's a little over what you said you wanted, but I'm selling an american winger when he pops to magnificent about week 1 next season, he's got weak PM, so might still benefit from the 50% wing PM training, and will only be 20. I'll probably start him at about $1 mil (maybe $1.4). His name is Floyd Flood (49903118). EDIT: was asked by a fed mate to train his this week and sell before the TS reset, so he'll be listed tonight.... My off-season focus is to upgrade my Wingback trainees, make some other defense improvements (CD and Keeper), a MF repalcement, and a new wing trainee in the beginning of the next season.. so far so good!
  7. To be honest, I expect when everything is said and done, it'll be higher than that. I heard someone from the LA government estimating that in a "wosrt case" 250,000 to 300,000 people did not evaculate the New Orleans Area alone. From other estimtes I've heard, there are/were 40-50 thousand at the Superdome, and 10-20 thousand others at other staging areas, leaving about 200,000 still unaccounted for under the worst case "scenario" ceraintly many are on roof tops, or congregating elsewhere, but 10,000 I can see than number climbing very high. In New Orleans they will be finding bodies buried in rubble still under water. And that doesn even begin to count people killed in other areas of the devasation... It truly is mind numbing...
  8. Certainly we are, so to get us back on target.... The rescue efforts have been very poor, but unfortunately its due to the chain reaction of events. When the hurricane first hit, it missed new orleans, in fact, in terms of storm damage, New Orleans is rarely the places they film, it's usually further East where the storm damage is worse. When you watch the films, its rare you see areas with both flooding and massive storm surge/wind damage. Because the initial storm damage hit to the East, the first response people headed in that direction, and logically so, those are the people whose homes are now piles of lumber. Many of these places are now dry, becayse they are not built in low-lying areas, but the devastation is immense. Then the dams that hold back the water from the nearby lake (won't even try to spell it) and the ocean started to break, and New Orleans had their flood. So now rescue agencies are elsewhere, and the flood hits. The flood takes out all power, telephone poles/lines, generators, etc. The "second wave" of rescue agencies are now dealing w/ New Orleans and have no communication, cell towers and land lines are all out, and even satellite communication is difficult because re-charging batteries is impossible. the flood water makes moving supplies dangerous and difficult, and well the snipers aren't a piece of cake either. The difference between New Orleans and the tsunami is that the Tsunami hit, created massive devastation, and then the water left, for the most part. This definielty is very similar to what has happened throughout the rest of the gulf coast. And from all reports, rescue and recovery operations they are well-managed. New Orleans is a whole new type of disaster. And as for the comments about developing that certain area as heavlity as it is... to a point, I can't disagree with that sentiment, but bear in mind, when a majority of the area was developed, and when the levees and dams were first built, the area was at a higher elevation than it currently is. The ground has slowly settled over the last 100-150 years, constantly and very slowly sinking. Do I disagree with diverting money away from this area, sure, but more money and a better levee may or may not have saved the area from this disaster. Building a structure to ABSOLUTELY resist the force of a Category 4 or 5 hurricane is simply horrendouly difficult and almost impossible. The only way to completely remove the threat of flooding would be to abandon the area, and uprooting that many people is simply ot going to happen. Well I've lost my point, and rambledd enough... I'm sure I'm sure I'll put more thoughts down later...
  9. I'm still at work, so didn't see the tackle.. but from what's been said, sure anger at Neill isn't my problem.... its the immediate doom and gloom of "now we'll do nothing but defend while Spurs rams goals down our throat... that's what I hate! Now get after them Jemal, lets see a goal come from all that pace you've got!
  10. Lets go blues! Beat 'em with only 10 on the pitch! Really, someone has to combat all the pessimism!
  11. Still working hours in the states for me... using chat would probably really make the computere gurus around here mad!
  12. Alright Rovers! They are realizing they can't run over us.... now lets beat them with davids on the pitch! Come on you Blues!
  13. Well positioned to promote from Dif 6 to Div 5 with 34 points and a +49 GD with 2 games to go, although the last is to #2 in the league, but even with a loss then, I should autopromote, I think.... I'm currently training wingers, and I'll have two decents ones to sell at season's end (one I'll seen pretty soon actually...) which should net at least $2 USD, which I'll need since I've got a lot of improvements to make to survive Division 5. If anyone has anu advice I'm all ears.. Wilderness Wanderers FC (223701) Current Squad and planned upgrades GK: passable (but almost solid per hottrick's tool) Defenders: 2x passables (one w/ passable PM), will be purchasing 1 excellent Wingbacks: 2x passable wing, inad def, will be buying 2 solid def, inad wing to train Midfielders: 3 excellents, all "older" (26-32), and 3 passables in reserve, will likey buy one more excellent or formidable Wingers: currently 4x brilliants, will sell 2 and replace with trainees with some PM Scoring: 3x passables, 2 with good Exp, plannig to buy an excellent or so Coach: solid trainer, defensive minded, poor leadership (just bought) have a Passable EXP, inad leader waiting to become next coash when he hits solid EXP...
  14. FYI, I put a kid on the TL today, starting at $100,000 Rick Singh (50328547) 20 years, solid form, healthy A pleasant guy who is balanced and upright. Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities. Nationality: USA Total Skill Index (TSI): 1 400 Wage: 620 US$/week Stamina: excellent Goaltending: disastrous Playmaking: weak Passing: poor Winger: excellent Defending: inadequate Scoring: poor Set Pieces: wretched
  15. I have a good shot of promoting.... Currently #1 (with 19 pts and a 31-2 GF/GA), so I'm above the autopromotion line at the moment, unless someone goes MOTS and gets lucky, I should be able to remain undefeated until the showdown at the end of the year with my top rival, who always puts out a great defense... but with no stumbles, I might be able to go into that game only needing a tie to autopromote.... If things go well, I'll have a half mil US$ in the bank and a crop of 4 pure wingers all at least brilliant (can sell 1 or 2) to give me some cahs to upgrade the team so I can compete in Division 5. Although I am looking to spend some of that $500K now on another offensive IM since my current off IM's PM is too low for Div 5.
  16. I've used Transfer Compare, but I wanted to get a "real life" version as well.... I started playing 6 months ago, and brought a young crop of "pure wingers" to train... now I have 1 19 y.o. outstanding (1/2 way to the next pop) and 3 18 y.o. formidables (will start poping next week), none have PM higher than weak, all have stamina solid or excellent, and 1or 2 have inadequate passing... Will probably sell at least 1 or 2 before the end of the year at brilliant or so.. any idea what kind of cash they will be worth?
  17. silly me mixed up my EIM and my Normal CD orders.... so I got a poor defender playing as my only CD, and a wretched PM playing as an EIM..... augh... The only time I didn't recheck my lineup in the last like 10 weeks, and this happens
  18. Just to cause problems, I have a question to ask.... Many of the "anti-women's football" posters on here have said that they don't like watching women's football because the quality is poor compared to men's football. And because the quality is poor, the game is unwatchable. So if Rovers were relegated to the championship would you still watch? Its not the premier league, and Rovers would liekly have to sell off most of their high-priced talent, so the brand of football would be much less in terms of quality. The intensity is still there, but I think the intensity is there in the women's game too (thinking especially of the tackle at the begining of the second half that #5 for England, White I think, put on one sweede, I think #16, that sent the sweede head flying). If you'd still watch Rovers in the Championship, what about second division?
  19. I know its real early in the season, so Big A and pg are probably light-years from thinking about it, but whatever happened to a "BRFCS.com" cup? We tossed the idea out, but we never got it going, any interest later on this season? PS my YPs are rubbish, YS should be excellent in the next few weeks... Currently sitting on 4 pts from 2 matches, a bore 0-0 draw with last years series winners and a 5-0 drubbing of a new team... still have yet to concede a goal!
  20. Diving is bad enough. Players rolling around on the ground like they've been shot, when really it was nothing more than a slight push or bump should face some punishment. It bad enough that they do that long enough to see a yellow or red card come out, and then amazingly recover. At least having to go off the field and come back on is something, personally I'd wish they'd make them stay off longer. The rule SHOULD speed games up because they are supposed to come on, get the player off the field ASAP and the restart, but sionce the player is usually perfectly fine to continue, the player just delaysgetting up long enough to where people might actually think they were hurt... If you can't tell, this is a pet peeve of mine!
  21. Those pesky NFL Rules prevent owners like Glazier to have any official dealings with a gambling enterprise, also make this relationship dangerous for Glazier. i.e.- he might have to hand over ownership of the Bucs or ManU and can't be involved with both...
  22. You are so right, any professional sports player or organization that tries to win should be utterly disgraced!
