He was Mowbrays signing. How would he be "the owners signing"? That would mean they or someone else would have an idea about young English players. They don't.

What I do find odd is that our business happened so late, so what I do suspect is there was only money released late. I could be wrong on that, but it would add up.

I imagine that if someone had the ear of the owners, and whoever that is convinces the owners that he is a good signing and they stump up the money than that's how it would be the 'owners signing'.

Then, if Mowbray doesn't want to look completely impotent he has to make out it's his idea.

    All hypothetical of course...

The FFA , organisation and League structure are pretty tinpot (franchise /salary cap model) but the football seems to have improved in the few years I've been over here.

As CCM got a mention earlier , where else in the world can you see giant sauce bottles filling one end of the ground :)

Is still a relatively new League isn't it? Give them time, they are still playing ketchup.

I've got no problem with him sticking around and trying to push for the first team, but I wouldn't go looking for supporters to give him a gee up based on what we've seen so far. We're too busy being in love with Dackington.

I'm amazed that anyone would pay £3.5m for a League Two player. Gladwin did well the season before QPR bought him, but I can only put it down to QPR being very badly run. To put it into perspective, we picked up our aforementioned saviour for £750K - the League One Young Player of the Season for the third year running. Where the hell was everyone else?!

Gillingham's young player of the year for the third year running, not League One's young player for the third year running.

  4. Is it just me or is history repeating.?  Our 'star' player gets injured before a major tournament (previously Beckham and Rooney respectively) and then gets picked to play in said major tournament even though clearly not match fit or match sharp.  'Star' player underperforms and we get knocked out, partly because we are playing someone who is not properly fit to the detriment of the team as a whole.  In my opinion Kane has to prove himself to be back and at 100% before he gets picked.  A fit Vardy or Rashford should get the nod ahead of a recovering Kane.

Also, someone needs to nick that trumpet until after the tournament.  That damn trumpet has been the funeral dirge accompanying English football for too long.  It's a miserable noise.  No wonder the players look lethargic with that horrible drone in the background.  The theme tune for failure.

  5. Croma always makes me think of doughballs. I tend to have them as a starter when I go there. I know they aren't tricky, but credit where it is due, they do them well.

I've always enjoyed Piccolinos across from Croma, when I have been.

  6. Food was great, very reasonably priced for city centre, but the service was shocking. They brought out the 'Patatas Bravas' and then it was a good 10 minutes before we saw any other dishes by which time the patatas were cold! If they had brought them all out at once it would have been superb, however for a restaurant with this reputation i expected much better.

Aside from that the Moroccan Kebabs were amazing! :D

Yes, the service is shocking. They're really too relaxed, chatting with their mates etc.

I once walked out without paying as it took so long for the bill to turn up! (I had a train to catch and I rang up later to pay the bill, I hasten to add)

  7. I will let you know what it's like, all my mates go so hoping for something good!

The bad language on the website has already put me off.

Edit - Hadn't noticed Tom's post, but I agree that it is trying too hard. Maybe some people like it. Also, maybe I am doing the Northern Quarter a disservice, but I always find it strangely pretentious. I quite often see it described as bohemian. I can only presume that bohemian translates in this instance as tatty, but expensive.

  8. I'm a recent convert to Frankie and Benny's. Good food, especially the burgers. Quick, friendly service. 25% off on Monday evenings.

Went to Chiquitos a couple of months ago. Food was OK, but service was terrible. Had to wait a lifetime for everything. Really disappointing.
