  1. I watched these events from the Riverside. My mate Neil (6' 4") was on the BBE and hid behind an old bloke, pretending to be his grandson and got away with it!

    :brfc:B)

My Uncle Bill was at this game in the BB End and said that there was only about 6/8 Chelsea fans and the problem was that there was panic and everyone ran away. My Uncle walked back through the Chelsea fans to get out and was completely fine.

  2. After scoring, he ran into the Blackburn End, pulled out a large, rusty knife, sliced the heads off six newly born babies-all of whom were wearing full Rovers kits AND had season tickets since they were spermatazoa, then dropped kicked their heads into the arms of the sobbing parents. Whilst laughing a bit. In a Liverpool kit.

You clearly missed him doing the Nazi salutes in his Klu-Klux-Klan gear, whilst giving V signs to some orphans and charity workers. ;)

PS Does anyone go in the Fox & Hounds before the game? If so, have you seen the sign that says 'No kids without parents'? That really is mean on orphans ;)

  3. Have we ever had a more helpful oposition fan on this board??

Very kind of you Handbag to take the time to assist away fans and their trip to Reading.

I'll second this sentiment! Top bloke Handbags (even though I'm usually sceptical of these cross dressing types ;) Seriously, though, what's the handbags moniker about, if anything?

PS A mate of mine is mad for the grannies and is now doubly looking forward to the stag do!

  4. Calm down there, we'll just have to wait and see if it happens. You have to understand that this is quite a popular story, but it also has several interesting details that seem a little unbelievable. Everyone has sources on this site, unless you can produce evidence then a good number of people will doubt it.

Personally, I don't believe it unless Pleasure says it...

No offence, Pleasure just jumping on the bandwagon ;)

Its to do with part of the rules on appealing red cards. You can only appeal against making contact, not as to if you are the last man or not.

Who actually makes up these idiotic rules?

Do they actually try to get more bizarre and outlandish with each one for no apparent reason?

Bring back Esther Rantzen. I''ve got a new bunch of pathetic jobsworths to bring to her attention.

Someone's winning bets on how long they can make us swallow this tripe, surely...

  6. Im only 22 but I went to both games. Remember the first one coz my old man blamed Bobby Mimms more so than super atko or the ball girl! If anyone ever sees the goal again look out for how slow Mimms is trying to get across to it. Remember as well at anfield we had the whole of the end behind the goal for the replay. These days we'd struggle to take a 1000!

I don't think you can blame Mimms for being slow to get across. Why would he go across when Super Atko should clearly have had it well covered?

Super Atko - For all the good games he had after this, notably the Dalglish era ones, he's still stuck with that damn own goal! Poor chap!

  7. Express is reporting about the value of premiership status for clubs as from next season as clubs will each recieve £35 million a year each in TV money alone!!

Its basically on about the west ham sacking asnd saying that its the reason pardew had to go, however it also mentions that other investors are looking at Newcastle, Man City & BLACKBURN.

    Fingers crossed!

Unless Uncle Jack's come back from the grave I'd be very careful what we wish for. Clubs can be completely buggered up by people out for the cash and who don't know football.

Phil mentions big TV money. I want that investing in the club not going in the back pocket of some jonny-come-lately who can spot a moment to invest and then leech the club dry.

A chap I know is a Chesterfield fan and he saw his club nearly go under due to meddling and mismanangement.

    Fingers crossed, indeed!

  8. Look at it this way BEB, having known both it does allow me to provide informed comment and I stand by what I said.

Ah...a thinly veiled 'I'm older than you so know better ' argument. It's a classic! The only way you can, maybe, get the upper hand in this type of argument is if you're dead.

You're still entitled to your opinion, of course, regardless of whether you're a young whipper-snapper or an old fart :)

  9. Hello one and all, handbags_harris from Hob Nob Anyone? (HNA?) at your service.

Any other issues about The Madejski you wish to raise, please just ask. I'll happily help.

How-do handbags! Cheers for the heads up. Very informative. :)

I'm actually having my stag night round Reading after the game. (Yes, I know it's an unusual place for a stag night, but it just worked out that way!) Anything (or anywhere) I should bear in mind?

    Thanks in advance!

  10. Reason I didn't include Seol is that I am not sure he would be in the team if everyone was fit. Good player, but Coppell is loyal to those that have served him well in the past, and Little and Kitson with whom he is fighting for places with would always get the nod I think.

He looks a great player and is serving you well NOW! I don't think Coppell would show a lack of loyalty to a starting player if he was already doing the business (and he's spent a fair bit of money on him, too)

If you don't want him, we would take him off your hands (with that donkey Doyle thrown in as a sweetener, of course) ;)

  11. A colleague of mine here in scouseland has just asked me if I can remember the girl who threw the ball back in when we played Liverpool way back in the 80's in the FA Cup. The reason he is asking is that his mate is claiming to be seeing her now.

There's got to be a joke in here somewhere (with apologies in advance)....

    Starter for 10...

Can't he tell whether it's her by how quick she grabs his balls? ;)

  12. Maybe I'm in a complete minority but I love these Lonsdale shirts and other stuff. I've never owned as much Rovers merchandise.

I have the kappa shirt, but I've only ever worn it once 'cos it looked like it'd been spray painted on and it nearly strangled me 'cos the collar was way too tight. Maybe it's be OK on an Italian bloke, as it mirrored the Italy strip that looked OK, but I don't think East Lancs blokes are built the same way...

  13. Did anyone else notice that we may have had a penalty for a handball with 2 minutes to go? They didn't show it on MOTD.

That's hardly a shocker is it. They're as biased as anyone. Listen to the pundits..for Tugay's off and pen against Spurs it was "That's the law. They can't have any complaints" For Pearce's sending off for Fulham only the next week it's "The laws wrong and need to be changed" It makes me sick.

When we've been playing well and deserve a result the refs have robbed us and now we are going though a poor patch. Between those two factors we now have a relegation scrap on our hands. If the refs had been fair we'd be mid-table going through a bad patch. As it is were near the bottom and in trouble.

Bad play by the Rovers, true, but bad decisions by the refs, too, IMHO.

  14. TODD IN, GALLY IN, NEILL OUT, NONDA OUT.

    :brfc:B)

I don't think that Neill is lacking commitment for us, although for a few games I haven't been sure, I must admit...

I don't think Todd's commitment on the pitch can be questioned. He was great yesterday and the whole back line looked more solid. He was also vocal and got things organised. Whatever he's done, Hughsey, it's time to say 'you've paid your penance, lad, go and do your stuff!'

I'm not gay, or anything, but has anyone else noticed the size of Todd's arse? It's fricking HUGE!

  15. honestly..well miffed ,got a flamin interview in liverpool when i get back as cwell....12 hours in plane slinged up on pain killers when theres fr3e ale...gutted

not so much a punch but a slap...i went round 2 days thinking i had my gout but it sweeled and i went to cas last night.

Ouch! It's not nice when your gout sweels, but when it goes to cas...well, you have my sympathy.

Seriously, Abbey, as a man who's had his fair share of broken bones I know how painful it is. I hope it gets better soon and mends well.

Which was more painful, the goal or the injury? :(

  16. We spent a fortune setting the academy up and it's regarded as one of the most 'state of the art' academies in the world (or was a few years ago) It'd crazy to abandon it after the initial investment when a few mill (a couple of players wages?) will keep it ticking over. Anyway, don't the first team use all those facilities as well, now? If you scrap that you need new facilities for first team players and that will cost a pretty penny in itself.

I'd prefer to spend the money on kids coming through than signing on fees and agents fees for has beens who don't give a damn.
