  1. watching highlights on SKY will be like taking a few mucky polaroids of the wife and knocking one out in a cramped motorway service station toilet.

Is that taken from the Sky Magazine?

I can hear Richard Keys doing the trailer on Sky Sports as the build up to the season begins: -

"........and next season we're bringing you something extra special, extended highlights of YOUR Premier League club on a Saturday night. It'll be like taking mucky polaroids of the wife and knocking one out in a cramped motorway service station toilet. It'll be that good."

    Don't be silly Bob.

If they do that then they risk losing viewers of the adult channels, do you think this is what SKY want? NO, they want to bankrupt BRFC.

    Do you follow?

  2. Disastrous move for the clubs, the game will eventually be destoyed by Sky TV and its millions. Any fan who is less than 110% comitted or whose team is struggling will simply turn on the box for an hour and call it support.

Very, very disappointing news. Sooner or later we are all going to have to wake up to the serious implications of Sky TV, it will destroy the game, in fact it has already taken its heart, Murdoch is just coming back for the soul now.

SKY are just providing a service which there is (judging by the comments on this thread) a big demand for.

Watching football on TV is no subsitute for being at the ground, we all know that, I can't see this move having a big effect on ticket sales.

It will be handy for those who can't afford to travel to away games too.

Watching live football at Ewood is like having sex with a beautiful woman - watching highlights on SKY will be like taking a few mucky polaroids of the wife and knocking one out in a cramped motorway service station toilet.

Incidently are the people complaining about this new service from SKY going to watch it? I know I'll take advantage of it but it won't stop me going to Ewood thumbs-up.gif

  3. Away games are more enjoyable, simple as that. Even more so last season due to the fact we could actually win a match away! I also spoke to a lot of people when the fixtures were released, few of whom were thinking of going to West Brom at home, most of them were lining up the away trips.

It's ###### to say that this will have a big effect on season ticket sales anyway though given that our average away following is under 1000 bloody people!

  4. If i had a family, mortgage etc that i had to pay for and i had a choice.

I could go on holiday and blow it all in two weeks, buy double glazing or wotever or maybe go on a shopping trip or buy a season ticket etc i would still choose Season ticket over any of them

I need to take Driving lessons but like i said to my dad, iv got plenty of years to drive so for now il have a season ticket n then when i can afford both il do both.

Well that's one good thing I suppose, one less clown on the road for the time being thumbs-up.gif

  5. The team who scores more goals in open play should win, we did that but thanks to a complete tit, we didn't win.

    Nope not sour grapes, FACTS.

I hope Sweden win it now. Good, honest hard-working team.

I'd hate to see the diving portugese win it.

As for that ref?!? Jesus christ mad.gif

  6. I'm sure I read something about Kanoute being released on a  free but I might have been ###### so I'll let him have that.

I've also read it on a few reputable news websites, that he is being allowed to leave because of his previous falling outs with Jacques Santini. No mention of a fee, but as Spurs would otherwise have to pay up his contract, it may end up being a better deal for both parties.

No need to have a pop either Dave.

Like I said I'm not sure on the details on that.

And I'm not having a pop at anyone unsure.gif

  7. I have just got back from Leeds and paid a flying visit to the ground, its in a desolate state.

The shop is full of bargains, yet there was NOONE there.

Only spoke to staff and the one fan paying homage to BB, both stated they have already been informed by the club that Dom Matteo is going to Rovers next week.

Leeds are today heavily linked with class acts and free signings - namely Brian deane and Nathan Blake !

    What a sorry state unsure.gif

You don't half chose your sources mate ph34r.gif

Anyone know if the new sports world shop will sell transfer gossip over the counter? unsure.gif

  8. De Pedro's a Spaniard,

He wears the blue n white,

    And Revidge Blue's still crying,

    Cos Curtis turned out @#/?.

    And then there's tiny Taylor,

    The lanky streak of pi$$,

    Now that's one gormless b^&%$*d

    That we ain't gonna miss!

    ph34r.gif

To the tune of my old man's a dustman.

Feel free to add verses I'm off for a meeting sad.gif

  9. What about (to Robin Hood, Robin Hood riding through the Glen...):-

"De Pedro, De Pedro standing with the ball,

De Pedro, De Pedro curls it round the wall,

    Hits Andy Cole,

    Right on the nose,

De Pedro, De Pedro, De Pedro"

    or something like that.

Oh for crying out loud, everyone knows Cole is on his way to Leicester in a £100 move. Think before you type will you?!?

  10. However we'd better start thinking up a decent song for him

    De Pedro OOOoooooooooooooOOOOOOOooooooooo

    De Pedro OOOooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOooooooo

    He comes from sunny Spain

    More tricks than David Blaine

    De Pedro OOOOOOooooooooooooOOOOOOOOooooooooooo

Tune the tune of that irritating Paddy Vieira song Arsenal sing.

    Actually no that's @#/? mad.gif

I like it Dave. Over the last few days I've been busy working on a slightly different version. Spoken to McCartney, John, Dylan, Kilmister, the usual types I often turn to at times like this. Basically they reckon if you substitute "He comes from sunny Spain, More tricks than David Blaine" and add....

"He came from Sociedad, He's got a Spanish Dad"

We'll be onto a winner. Or maybe not.

Yep we're making progress here, maybe our very own Peter Cucumber can add the finishing touches thumbs-up.gif

Word of warning though, Revidge Blue has infiltrated a section of pensioners in the Jack walker stand. If De Pedro doesn't shine straight away he's gonna face a barrage of abuse from this lot. I wouldn't like to imagine the consequences of a Steven Carr style outburst on the Spanish new boy. We'll just have to make sure we make enough noise to drown out his chants of "you'll never beat John Curtis". rover.gif

  11. Dear oh dear oh dear.  Anyone watching Russia/Portugal?

A Russian 'hooligan' on the pitch trying to attack the ref due to their keeper being sent off?

Can you just imagine if he was English?!?!  mad.gif

How much press will this incident get in the morning?  rolleyes.gif

Probably quite a lot in Russia. withstupid.gif

But hooliganism is 'the English disease' how dare a Russian try to get in on the act? Where's the calls to ban them from the tournament by all and sundry?

  12. I'm delighted we've signed a left midfielder/winger, but I have to say that I'm a little worried about how he's going to settle and whether his heart will really be in it. Let's face it, how many Spaniards have come over to play in England and been a success? I'm sure there must be one or two but I'm struggling to think of them.

I suspect he'll start off like a house on fire for about 10 games and quickly become a fans favourite before fading when he starts to get a little tired and the weather becomes a tad too chilly for him. Then obviously in January he'll pick up a career-threatening injury like most of our new signings do and be out for the rest of the season.

Still, even if we only get 10 good games out of him next season it'll be 9 more than anyone else has managed on the left since Duff departed.

To be fair, how many Spaniards have been signed by prem clubs? I'd say Mendieta has been a success this season. Reyes is showing a lot of promise.......

  13. I.e getting ###### up and trying to fight people who'd wipe the floor with you if the bouncers didn't kiss your ass?

    blink.gif

Right then........just saying what we know about him, don't know what your problem is with Beattie - if you ever see him on a night out, you'll see how much grief he has to put up with. Just trying to be helpful with a serious post, wont bother in future rolleyes.gif

FYI Beattie was a pisshead in his time here. Used to be a regular every thur/fri/sat and make a tit of himself week in, week out.

  14. Hi, Saints fan here. We have been heavily linked with De Pedro for about a year, and it all came to a head in the January transfer window. It was basically reported in Spain as a done deal, and what we understand to be the truth, was that De Pedro had agreed a contract package, and all that was being negociated was the final price. Saints were willing to pay £1.5m, but Sociedad were holding out for an extra 500k, which we were reluctant to spend for a player available for free in the summer. There was a few weeks when the deal was off, then on again, and it seemed only a matter of time before he signed. He gave various interviews saying he was looking forward to joining us and the contract he had been offered was 'unbelievable' (he was only on 4k a week, and we'd offered 12k a week) Anyway after this saga the transfer window closed and we hadn't signed him, it looked like Rupert Lowe had missed out on a good player yet again because he wasn't prepared to fork out a bit more cash. Instead, for £1.5m we bought Niel McCann, this made it all the worse, as he's got to be one of the worst players to pull on the Saints shirt. Later, however, it came out, through various sources including Lowe, that there were other reasons we didn't sign him. Saints not only scout players on the pitch, but also off it, and apparently the club were shocked at aspects of his lifestyle. He is said to have a 'big problem', but no one really knows what it was Saints found. Anyway we will watch De Pedro with much interest, and hope, of course, he turns out to be crap biggrin.gif

Maybe it's a 'big problem' like Beattie had?

I.e getting ###### up and trying to fight people who'd wipe the floor with you if the bouncers didn't kiss your ass?

  15. a) It's yet another old player. What happens in a couple of years when he's past it (if he's not already)? We have to go and find someone else - we are just delaying the problem of finding a decent left midfielder - not solving it.

Fair points mate as usual. But we can't honestly say Pedersen would have answered the problem either. Lets hope (pray) De Pedro becomes a success and in 2 seasons time who knows what sort of left sided options we'll have open to us? We may be in a position to pluck one from our own academy or maybe there'll be a new kid on the block? Keep the faith thumbs-up.gif

  16. Just veering off topic again Whereabouts in Canada you from?  cool.gif

A little town north of Toronto..

I am not an ex-pat. Just a fan who needed a squad to pull for and I liked Blackburn back when the Premier League was founded and they finally gave us European footy on the TV here biggrin.gif

Ahhhhh Toronto, lovely place. I once fell down the stairs on a plane there en-route to Vancouver.

Not quite up there with Hudsons Bay in Vancouver but nice all the same. If we could re-locate Ewood in Canada I'd move there tomorrow sad.gif

  17. Hey Lee,

If you need a translator, just use this one

    Translator

I know it's not 100% on the mark, but it gives you the idea of what is said.

But you probably already know about this one anyhow..

    Back on topic,

De Pedro eh? I wonder who now gets the boot out of the club to pay for this lad?
