  1. The problem with youth development at rovers is there is no clear pathway to progression. You can be the best player on the pitch and guaranteed to be dropped simply because you're young. Surely that hunger of youth is fired by the thinking that if you make an impression you could secure on ongoing place in the side. Tony's version is you're young so you're only going to get 10 or 20 mins here and there regardless of all other factors involved. The opposite of progression!!

  2. Someone shot me down for mentioning this the other day. I think the whole set up is to cushy. Team spirit and everyone liking each other too much. The whole squad is about banter and liking each other.

Also these A-Z's the club keeps releasing. In their spare time it seems all our players go home and play their xbox's.  The effect that has on your quality of rest and most importantly an ability to get a good night's sleep is awful. I found the below article quite an interesting read. You can bet your bottom dollar the club aren't monitoring these kind of things.

Fully agree with all other points on here I just wasn't sure where to put this as it doesn't seem to merit it's own topic.

  3. Watched some Christmas interview with Dacky and Danny Graham earlier. Brereton was the butt of a lot of their jokes. He's clearly well liked. Which in my opinion is a bad thing.

Years gone by you'd hear about young players being quiet as a mouse in the dressing room until they matured a bit. There's all this 'banter' and 'team spirit' and I think he's in his comfort zone being well liked by 'the lads'. I'd far rather he was coming into work everyday trying to prove himself and earning that respect and acceptance. From all I've read players like him and Adam Armstrong who should be doing all they can to win their places come into training, have great bants then go home and play this fortnight game together online for literally hours on end. It's not healthy, they need to focus on their careers, maturing and making an impact instead.

Rant over. Reading this back for the first time in my life I feel old

I hope that we might take a look at young Alexander Sørloth at Crystal Palace, currently 4th choice there. He has said himself that he might leave in january.

Only 22 years, but big and strong (194cm), not that slow either.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opdKr0NTXX4

Think that he might be a good fit for the Championship.

I've been thinking the same for a while. Ticks a lot of boxes. Big strong target man, looked like an ok finisher prior to his palace move, mobile enough and young. Palace signed him for 9 million and I could imagine they'd be quite tempted by a loan with a view to buy given how little playing time they've given him.

He's not done much at palace so o could easily see them letting him go yet he has been in and around the first team suggesting he does have something about him.

Been reading all the moaning about the setup from Mowbray for this one, and to some extent I agree. But I have learned something after Mowbray.....we have a team that _will_ say "never say die" and effin bleed for the emblem that is the rose we all love. We should in all honesty be losing this one. No strikers, our one good central defender off with injury after 15 mins and no height to speak off (this is the championship after all....) - despite all this we STILL manage a goal away from home to a team that got relegated from the PL last season.....and keep in mind we that we just got promoted....as second best.

In short: Nevermind the moaners.....In Mowbray We Trust!?

Couldn't have saved that until the game was over could you?

  6. Lads made a mistake. Look at the likes of Troy Deeney. He has a choice now. Sort his head out and focus or be a "I could have been somebody" at the end of his career.

I'm not sure I buy into completely slating him. He's grown up in a different world where egos can become inflated very easily. Hopefully this is a reality check, brings him back down to earth with a bump and he looks at what's important going forwards. He's been a nob, he's been stupid. Accept it, change going forwards

  7. Seen it in a couple of places that Mowbray gambled and it backfired but if he didn't gamble then he'd be slated for that as well.

In my opinion he tactics were shocking yesterday. Nuttal should be nowhere near this side. Gambling doesn't have to consist of throwing on extra strikers. What about the supply. It was amateurish. Like a kid going gung ho whilst playing a game of Fifa. We had attackers on the pitch already. How about keeping Palmer on, putting benno in centre mid and Conway or Rothwell wide right. Improve the supply. All he did was kill any semblance of creativity we barely had.

For the record I love mogga. His tactics made zero sense yesterday though

  8. 1. He is actually in someone's back garden not out in a club.

    2. There is no evidence he is drinking.

    3. The post was made last night but there is nothing to say this was last night.

Could very easily be Friday evening he has gone out to a friend's house. Not drunk and been tucked up in bed for midnight. Footballers need to be aware of their responsibilities but control anyone too much and it's a recipe for disaster. A lot of people here assuming from one picture that he's been out getting drunk until the early hours before a game with absolutely zero evidence to back it up

  9. It's a non story. If they really wanted him they'd have been in for him this window. Given how he is going to tear the championship up this season we already knew there would be interest in January. Nixon being a nob basically. The bloke clearly doesn't think much of us these days
