  1. Ok I have just surfaced after getting back from watching the match "Down the Local"! OMFG! Villa was mugged! 1 of 2 rovers fans in the bar with 7 villa fans... I had to buy each one of them a drink to apologise!

Reids handball was silly but neither the ref of the lines man (on the far side) spotted it so I guess that makes up for the 2nd spurs goal last week. And Todd’s in the area... even the villa fans said that it would have been very harsh to have given a penalty! Yes his hands were raised but in obvious defence, and doing a very camp handbags impression I thought ph34r.gif , plus the ball was approaching the sound barrier so I doubt anyone could have called it intentional!

Freidel was immense, again, but again his positioning was suspect... this was due to the back four having a very poor game, split open after the first 45 seconds they were wide open and chasing for the rest of the game! The only plus side for the defence was that grey seems to have remembered how to play, even so he was still poor.

The midfield was loose, did not close down villa and so their midfield ran riot. Savage appears the be the antithesis of tugay, runs around seeming to do a lot but not actually achieve much, as apposed to doing little but bossing the centre (I know who I'd rather have there!). Pederson was not match fit. He was caught off side way too often and his touch was clumsy compared to his previous appearances. Reid ran his socks off but again achieved little!

Belamy and pongole worked well together but did not get the supply they needed.

The only reason we won was because the villa keeper had a shocker, or was unlucky enough that the two balls he spilt both dropped to rovers players.

That said a win is a win and we deserved to get the rub of the green after some of our other home results! Newcastle at Ewood?

Money issues aside I am a little unsure if we truly want to get in to the champions league, or even the UAFA cup! ohmy.gif although we are a much better team than previously, Europe has always signalled a poor league run for the club that season! I would perhaps prefer we finish 7th and cement ourselves as true top 10 finishers and make steady progress from there on! We have massively exceeded expectations this season as last night proved (After the match at west ham did any one truly believe we'd be in 5th with 9 to go?).

    Best case predictions...

Wins against Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Portsmouth and big club

Draws against Wigan, Charlton and city

And losses against Liverpool and Chelsea

    15 points = 61 points total!

should cement 4th but with this seasons table I think with Arsenals resurgence, spurs lead, and Bolton’s games in hand , even 61 points will only get us 6th!

  2. Top review again Bob.

Just one piece of really exciting news you missed. Last week it was announced that Condoleeza Rice will be coming to Jack Straw's Blackburn constituency later this year. Given that when Jack went to Alabama, Condy's home state, last October he went to watch her local college football team and said that he wanted her to come to Ewood, I assume that we can expexct a royal visit early next season. The good news will be that all the CIA goons and media types should put about 1,000 on the gate alone, although it might be tempered by a forest's worth of articles in the Hovis, cobbled streets, grim up north stereotype.

    I can hardly contain myself.

Yeah but after they read some of the posts on this forum...they will be the only ones they lets in! laugh.gif

Oh yeah...Fantastic post bob! You need to appologise to my cat though! he did not like it when I pushed my chair back to get a good belly laugh going, and ran over his tail! ph34r.gif

  3. End of season slump as injuries and fitness finally tell! sad.gif

    Spurs away defeat 2-0

    Villa home win 1-0

    Boro home draw 0-0

    Sunderland away win 0-2

    Wigan home win 2-1

    Portsmouth away draw 1-1

    Liverpool home defeat 0-1

    Birmingham away draw 2-2

    Chelsea home defeat 0-3

    Charlton away defeat 2-0

    City home draw 0-0

    + 13 points 56 points GD -1

    7/8th place huh.gif

Then again I'd have been over the moon with that at the start of the season! biggrin.gif

  4. I was gutted when Dunn left...but understood why GS binned him, he did kind of go off the rails when seeing/getting dumped by Jakki Degg.

Since then he has gained too much weight and as a result become injury prone.

With his current fitness level, (way above mine) I would not touch him with abby's! wink.gif

shame really because I really liked to watch him link up with duff and run riot! sad.gif

Possibly I'd concider getting him at the end of the season when the big club are relagated for £1M and wages of £15k a week untill he proves himself match fit, then back to £40k. (as if laugh.gif )

  5. Mark Lawrenson has just said that Rovers will give Arsenal more of a game in 10 minutes than Real Madrid did in the whole game!!

I'm tending to agree with him - I believe we're just that bit better than Real Madrid wink.gif

    386435[/snapback]

Ahh dammit we are all just a little too up for this, with more predicted wins for us and even lawro is getting in on it now!

Can only mean one thing! Rovers 0-3 Arsenal mad.gif

    Please prove me wrong! withstupid.gif
