For once the bookies have got it wrong.
I have Souey's as one of the safest job's in the Prem.
Since the wobbles towards the end of last season he has moulded the core of the team around players who admire him and would run through a brick wall for him.
On top of that I reckon we have a pretty good side as well which is gonna surprise more than the odd big gun.
Top six this season no worries.

No Tim Flowers either
With his union jack towel and that speech, he'll always be a hero.
No Lee Grooby either, I called him a cult just the other night.
Paid him a tenner I owed him from last season on wednesday night.
You should have seen the smile on his face !

Some of Rovers' performances last season veered between tragi-comedy and pantomime but their preparations for the new season are becoming nothing short of farcical.
The lead role in all this is, of course, is being played by the grand dame Souness, whose transfer policy (if he has one) continues to defy logic and gives the appearance of a struggling manager who has lost the plot and is making it up as he goes along.
In the past week we have had the curious bid for Moore, reported interest in yet another defender, Finnan, and the continuing on/off, is he staying/is he going saga involving Dwight Yorke. All three raise questions about Souness’s stewardship of the club and the prospects for next season.
Why, for instance, would Souness want to sign Moore when we already have nine (!) senior defenders, including four centre backs, on the books? And why would he wish to sign Finnan, a right back, when the position is already held by Neill, reputedly one of Souness’s favourite players?
Why, also, the about-turn that has seen Yorke, seemingly so out in the cold that he was left out of the pre-season tour, return to favour with hints that he may even be offered a new contract? Yorke did not look remotely interested in playing for the club for most of last season and Souness repeatedly criticised his attitude and lifestyle, so what has changed? Nothing, I would suggest, except that Souness has been ordered to make peace with Yorke by the board because the club cannot get rid of the player and has to continue paying his exorbitant wages.
Last season, Souness increasingly gave the impression of a man who did not know what he was doing. His antics as the big kick-off approaches merely reinforces that view in my opinion.
Whilst I would never wish to be associated with Jim's tongue in cheek clouds of depression, I have to say I hope that Souness' judgement hasn't begun to crack.
I hope w don't sign Craig Moore with his dodgy knees
I hope we don't sign Steve Finnan, I have ultimate faith in Lucas Neill. Despite last season's blemishes, he is a quality footballer with two great feet,
I hope we sell Dwight Yorke as soon as the first bid hits Ewood, which according to JW today, so far there hasn't been one.
I hope we sign an exciting CF to replace Yorke, a player with a bit of the unpredictable about him.
I hope Matteo plays in defence alongside Amoruso and not in midfield.
I hope we play WBA with Emerton Thompson Ferguson and DePedro in midfield.
And I hope the Al Qaeda suspects that have just been arrested in Cherry Tree don't come back in bad moods !
-
that rings a bell brownie, but i can't put my finger on it!
anyway, i just hope that we can sign a classy striker before the brom game.
Nothing to put your finger on BB, it was called 'Soap' !

Does anyone remember the old US comedy sitcom, Soap, where the opening credits ended by saying "Confused ? You will be" ?
Well I am.

Thompson -----> Djorkaeff (Two trickery players well worth watching, but Djorkaeff is getting old)
De Pedro ------> Okocha (two players whom like to challenge players and shoot)
Stead ------> Davies (Stead's got more pace, better shot and is better in many aspects)
Gallacher ----> Bridges or Ferdinand (Well you've all seen Gallys enthusiasm in the game and his pace and shooting skills, Ferdy is singing on his last swansong and Bridges is off the hill totally)
When you look at the bench they look weak comparing to us so if they get injuries they'll face big problemas.
What do you think?
I think youre putting so much effort into trying to make sensible points all you are managing to do is create humour.
For one thing Djorkaeff has left Bolton, but I'm pleased DePedro likes to challenge players and shoot !
Well Djorkaeff hasn't left according to their official website...
Which goes to prove you will only ever know a certain amount about football following it over the internet.
-
"Others:
Dickov (he'll be happy if he gets on the bench)"
Hilarious !!
I believe both Jansen and Gally are better strikers.
The hilarious point being you somehow know that Dickov will be happy to start on the bench.

Because he took the first one, why do you think Ferguson when he didn't take one of the five ?
Obviously it's gonna be Amoruso.
-
The big news for me tonight is that it looks like amoruso will be taking penalties next season (if we get one)
Ist match, 1st goalscorer, 33-1 Amoruso, get £20 on !

we have had the managers say on what went wrong,it looks like we will have to wait for the sunday's for cole to reply,i for one cannot wait
Can't wait for what ? How dull must your life be ?
If Cole has got any sense he will realise how tedious the whole slagging of the ex-boss is and how predictable what he is going to say is and get on with his job.
David Dunn had more reason than Cole to go crying to the papers but kept a dignified silence.
Cole should do the same.
big difference betwen dunny and cole,dd is a out and out roverite, who still supports the club and i presume his little run in with souey did little to alter that.
but with cole after the welcome sourness gave him, read ss quotes he will have a few things to say on how it all turned sour,i love to know how they fell out 'SOUEY STATES FOOTBALLING REASON'S'.
Happen he asked cole to run and chase after hopeless balls, all will be revealed.
and thanks for asking about my dull life,it's going to get brighter soon
If he does spill the beans it will be roughly along the lines of " he made us work hard" etc etc
-
Can't believe we are playing the local side, God this is nerve-wracking !
why nerve wracking? its only a friendly
The others are right, sarcasm is very difficult on here.

Apparently Souness now believes that any bid to sign him have now been jeopardised by the fan that spilled the beans.
I've just read the "Souey anger at Rovers fan" piece by Andy Neild in tonights LET and I think it's outrageous to single out a dedicated fan for criticism like that.
If the player in question is good enough it's Souness's job to sign him up for the club, if not it's his job to send him packing.
It's not his job to criticise incredibly dedicated supporters who have devoted holiday time and spent hard earned cash following the club on a pre season tour.
I really can't see what difference it makes if the player's identity is known is not. All this "secret squirrel" type stuff makes us look rather ridiculous IMO.
Fact is someone connected to rovers must have told the Rovers fan in the first place, hence he should be aiming his anger elsewhere.
And in any case, how can you possibly expect a Rovers fan to keep such a thing quiet - I made the same mistake a few years ago leaking the fact that Kenny was coming back to Rovers and so scuppering the deal.
-
That was obviously the phone call I heard with the reference to 'Pato'
Thing is though n-one at Radio Lancs knew who he was and no surprise seeing that his name had been shortened.
-
When we first signed Andy Cole, I thought we were buying goals guaranteed but a a lot of bad misses to go along with it.
I think that is exactly what he has been.
Probably just about worth the money in the market as it was 3 years ago but can't help feeling his stint at Rovers has been his least impressive he's had yet at any club.
Another thing is that he never once looked like he wanted to be here which childish as it seems, means a lot to me.
Not a bad signing, but not a player I will look back on with any great affection.
-
Seeing as we are no nearer discoveringwho our potential new signing is yet, why not have a brainstorm to see whether we can work out who the player is or who has any GENUINE contacts or insider information.
I reckon the player will be aged around 21, of dutch nationality and play as an attacking midfielder.
I also still reckon his name sounds a bit like 'Patto' but maybe not.
So it WAS Pato all along ?!
-
did someone mention
CAMARAS !!!!!!!!
another coloured striker currently missing from his club !!
just a thought
It's a bloody good one as well though I'd be amazed if it was.
Surely one of the reporters there would have recognised him ?
-
No chance
If Kamy or anyone else had the slightest inkling who the mystery man was it would be plastered all over this messageboard.
The possible exception being Lee who would obviously get in trouble with his employers.
Kamy often doesn't share everything he knows because of many reasons:
1) Getting blasted by other members for sharing the info he has
2) Damaging rovers chances of making the deal or getting the player
3) He could get sued for lots of dosh!!!
You can never think that everything someone knows would go straight onto a board that can be read by any body from any club in the world!
So you think a posting on this website could scupper the whole deal ?
Some people don't half take this board a little more seriously than they should.
Let's not speculate, we might get sued ! (for loads of dosh)
-
If this players was famous i.e. Kluivert wouldn't everyone recongize him. It is more likely to be a youngester who no ones seen before.
The legend lives on
Exactly.
The LET reporter obviously saw the player at close quarters and doesn't have a clue who he is !
He's obviously an unknown wonderkid or something (another one)

I hope there wasn't any anti-Irish silliness going on over there otherwise I would be very dissapointed.
Brownie aka 'Irish Dave' would be embarrased if the famous Irish hospitality was not recipricated.
