  1. Seeing as we are no nearer discoveringwho our potential new signing is yet, why not have a brainstorm to see whether we can work out who the player is or who has any GENUINE contacts or insider information.

I reckon the player will be aged around 21, of dutch nationality and play as an attacking midfielder.

I also still reckon his name sounds a bit like 'Patto' but maybe not.

  2. John Pittard was the other guy giving me updates from Schorndorf.

and wait till I tell my mate Pato that people think he's playing for Rovers!

The youngster from Stockport hasn't gone over, methinks Jordan has been on the poppenbrau a little too much!

    ta

    Lee

Methinks you don't know either Grooby Doo !

I'm standing by Pato, and it's not your mate !

And I still owe you a tenner !

  3. Radio Lancs said they rang up a fan who was watching the game to ask for the players name and apprently it sounds like 'Pato' but they couldn't confirm this.

Is Mark Patterson still playing ?

I heard a fan called John Pittard? on Radio Lancs about 6.10 phoning rom germany - I didn't know about any mystery trialist till just now. The name he used sounded very like "Mounir el Hamdaoui"

At 7 o'clock R Lancs said the name sounded like Pato

  4. To be honest, untill I saw Ky News a minute ago I didn't even know what he looked like.

But doesn't it make things a little more interesting that we've got an allegedly skilful left footed winger from Spain to look foward to rather than Jonathan 'I'll mark this space' Douglas ?

He may well be totally crap but at least the signing makes life more interesting and haven't we all been crying out for a bit of flair in the side ?

An experienced international, scores goals, creates goals, takes free kicks and on a free, you can't expect much more when youre a Blackburn fan.

  5. Well...

    ...you've read me like a book - I'm not happy. wink.gif

Now that the guy's signed, I hope he does well for us. But I have huge reservations about this deal.

    a) It's yet another old player. What happens in a couple of years when he's past it (if he's not already)? We have to go and find someone else - we are just delaying the problem of finding a decent left midfielder - not solving it.

and b. He's skilful but very slow. Being a slow player and playing successully on the wing in the Premiership don't often go together - e.g Viana. (Beckham was an exception).

This deal strikes me as a panic buy - as Gresko was. Souness didn't want to give de Pedro a 2 year contract before because he claimed not to know enough about him. And all of a sudden, Pedersen is out of our reach, so we go back to de Pedro.

That's my opinion, i've voiced it and that's what this messageboard is about. Many won't agree and I hope that you're right that de Pedro turns out to be a great signing. I also fear that the money that was going to be spent on MGP may be used to try to lure Butt to Ewood.

Skilful but slow ? Doesn't work ?try David Ginola, Chris Waddle and John Barnes was hardly rapid.

As for panic buy like Gresko ???? How can Gresko be a panic buy when it took us about 3 months to make our minds up about signing him ? I just don't understand the comment !

He was probably the least panicky buy we have ever made !

I think de Pedro will prove a quality purchase.

Two decent wingers in the same side for the 1st time since Ripley and Wilcox.

  6. Sunderland will not be making a move for Norwegian midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen.

The Tromsø player had been linked with a move to Wearside, although that speculation had cooled off in recent days, after a £2.5m price tag was slapped on the 22 year old.

A statement from the club said that Mick McCarthy had not made a bid for the Norwegian international, but McCarthy does have "other targets" in mind.

    Well that's alright then !

  7. We have in my opinion one of the best managers in the country, and the worst part about being relegated would have been the probable departure of Souness, and the grim prospect of a manager of his quality taking over a Nationwide team.

Now that we seem to be avoiding that eventuality, it's time to rid ourselves of this ridiculous thread and get on with planning for next season.

I couldn't name any other Premiership manager who would have the bottle to sign a Division 3 forward and throw him straight into a desperate situation like we were in.

This time next year we will be laughing at this thread.

  8. In my view, assuming we stay up.

The keeper, the full backs,a centre-half, three of the midfield and the forwards are sorted.

I'd spend every penny for next season on a left winger a centre midfielder and a centre half.

No problems with Friedel Neill Todd Gray Emerton Ferguson Thompson Stead and Gallagher.

Worth a bet on the handicap list for next season
