  1. I don't know what planet you've been living on gazsimm, but when was the last time you weren't able to get a ticket for a match involving Blackburn Rovers?

united away, worthington cup final i only could get 1 ticket, do i need to go on, i see some of these supporters walking around now in chelsea shirts that really p----- me off

  2. I think last nights awful attendance v Birmingham proves that I was right all along. The only difference that cheap tickets make is in reduced revenue for the club. I do admit that it's nice to watch 2 games within a week for £15 but it's bloody awful from a business point of view! As I have said many times Blackburn neither deserves nor can support a top level football team.

the stay away fans will be at ewood if we were top of the league all the time though won't they, there are to many glory hunters these days thats the main problem

  3. I agree MGP was poor yesterday and should be dropped if possible, but IMO he still put effort in so no need to boo him.

i don't think he did put the effort in yesterday, which is not normal like him, he was just happy to sit back and let Warnock push on the wing. For the booing yes it maybe a bit harsh, but if he keeps up with that level of preformance every week, i will be booing him as well.

  4. I thought Benni did well yesterday. He came looking for the ball and tried to make things happen and to be fair put in a decent amount of work, going into midfield and the wings looking for the ball. Though Matty should have come on for MGP and left Benni on.

Though the booing both of Pedersen and at full time was well out of order. MGP put in a lot of work as did the team but things didn;t run for them.

MGP was gabbage yesterday and has been so far this season. if we had another left winger challenging him, he would be dropped, his crossing was dire, he could not wait to get rid of the ball, which to me means he's lacking on confidence.

As for Benni, he just does not seen the same player, has he was last season, which i don't why, he's playing way to deep and needs to play further up along side Cruz

  5. OK, perhaps I made my point badly.

What I am trying to say, perhaps badly, is that Bellamy did a lot of running for the team into the channels, putting people under pressure etc. I believe this attitude combined with the 17 goals or whatever Bellamy scored is more valuable to the team than McCarthy's contribution. Regardless of whoever has been missing this season, I believe there is an argument to suggest had Benni done a little more work for the team we might be a touch higher up the table. Whilst I wouldn't class Benni as a luxury player, he's more than that, at times we have carrried him. But for 24 goals I guess it's justified.

The problem is it is almost impossible to to argue against Mccarthy's contribution this season - 24 goals. Scoring goals is not only the hardest thing but the most important thing to do on the football pitch. Therefore, anyone who questions McCarthy's overall contribution gets knocked back with - "but he scored 24 goals, what more do you want". To that there is little you can reply.

What will be interesting is next season if he went say 9 or 10 games without a goal - exactly how valuable is his contribtuion then?

Don't misunderstand me I love Benni and I love him playing for us, I just get the impression he has more to give.

it's not just his goals that help the team, he sets up an awful lot of scoring opportunites for other players as well

  6. It's strange really but whether Mccarthy goes or stays I am not too bothered. I can't beleive this is how I feel but it's true.

Firstly, he has been wonderful to watch this season and his goals have been both regular and at times sublime. At £2.5 million he was a bargain. The club can not lose. We either have a 20 goal a season striker playing for us next season or we get £8 million plus for a 29 year old facing a difficult second season in the PL. Whether anyone will pay good money for Benni I do not know.

What I do know is that I was far more worried about losing Bellmay this time a year ago. Whilst he may not have scored 24 goals. Bellamy certainly played for the team and the fact we finished 6th a year ago provides the difference between Mccarthy and Bellamy. I think everyone can appreciate Bellamy's value is measured in more than just goals. Whereas Mccarthy is goals and not much else. That's not a criticism but a fact.

i just wish we can have benni and bellamy at the club next season

  7. Tris (took your time :D ), I stand corrected on the conversion stats bit and I have no qualms with his goals but this then this raises another point. Why is he fairly far behind in the number of attempts? Lack of service - possibly but I feel enough service has been coming from Messrs Bentley and Pedesrsen to alleviate the fact.

As mentioned, I welcome the goals but I'm in agreement with Fife here re the attitude. I just feel he should be doing that little bit more for the team - I don't mean running about the field like a headless chicken as so many people seem to have read (don't think anybody has actuall mentioned that) but I do expect a little more conribution in the way of effort to the team ie jumping for an header instead of standing there and falling over waving his arms etc.

Personally I feel more confident that he will stay at Rovers on the very basis that I feel the top clubs have stayed away from him due to the reasons I have tried to highlight, unless Chelski show a proper interest.

I am not denying his quality , and I don't want him to leave, but as I have mentioned previously just because of the goals should not mean he is absolved from criticism. It has been mentioned he does go missing after scoring which I feel is a very valid point to raise, which even you cannot defend.

This is the whole annoying thing - just a little bit more application and I feel he could achieve so much more and score more goals, however saying that this would probably lead to him being tapped up by one of the so calle bigger clubs.

He reminds me of Henry a lot, the way he plays, not always in the game, but can produce a moment of class in a flash.

I say, leave the guy alone and let him keep playing the way he has been this season, which has been a delight to watch

i just god hope he will be playing for the rovers next season

  8. we got the 3 points we needed, but the performance was crap, Mclaren should resign, he is not getting the best out of the players and should walk away now.

The FA should be ashamed of themselves for selecting him to be the manager of England, he might be a good number 2 but he's never going to be a good manager

  9. Yes I am English and proud of it! My point is that England are never going to qualify under McClaren, and IF we lose this one match against Andorra he will be sacked by public demand. Plus there will still be time and enough matches left to qualify if we get a real manager in charge of the team.

i would rather us play crap and get 3 points that sack him, then we will be all laughing

  10. Well I am very sorry to say it, but for me the match will only be going well if Andorra are winning!

    McClaren OUT!!!

are u english? why do u want england to loose if you are english that is and make it even harder for us to qualify for euro 2008, that does not make sense to me

  11. Of course. But I think Johnson 1) is better than Nugent and 2) deserves his place more. So why drop him?

Let's be honest. We'd all rather have Johnson or Defoe over Nugent. Can people really say they've seen him enough to confidently claim he's better than either of those two? So why should he play ahead of them?

Ok Johnson has not had many international caps, to prove himself on the international scene, but i think defoe has. Ideally i would like Johnson and Nugent to play some part of tonight's match if the match is going well

  12. You think much of many players do you, who cares if he's a 'media darling', Barry is the best option for LW, He plays there every week is onform, is having his best season even for club.

Is there a English LW playing week in week out, who has performed better then Barry for their club all season?

i agree Barry should be playing on the left side and deserves his chance
