  1. Neills gone for money! No doubtabout that and no doubt that that was his intention from the start. Just like Mr McNulty would go to ITV if they offered to double his salary from the beeb!

I really find it odd that people appear suprised / antagonised / embittered by all this. Are people not capable of logical and rational thought processes nowadays?

Good grief! Dunno if there is one but if so that must take the 'most stupid post of the year' award hands down.

Congratulations gazsimm, being so stupid cannot be easy! ;)

I go along with that Shaddy. Coming after their steal of Bellamy I think they are guilty of arrogance and deceipt. I know it's business and all's fair in love and war but the sooner somebody whips Gerrard away under similar circumstances the better! I would just love to see him walk away for nowt!

i think you should look at your own stupid posts and stop slagging people off. It's quite clear why Neil joined West Ham and if you are thick enough not to realise this, well then that just sums you up

  2. :rover: A player of lucas neills talent needs to be playing every week,at liverpool even bellamy cannot get a game every week,so it is a toss up between playing for us or west ham,we offer european football but not much money, west spam offer loads off dosh and a relagation fight,so if footballing reasons rule the roost in the neill household surely he would have stayed at ewood :brfc:

I think Neil would of signed for Liverpool if they offerd him the same wages as West Ham have, so i don't think a guarantee off 1st team football came into it

  3. Thank God Neil has left us now and we can all move on now i think Rovers have done very well with getting 1.5million for him and replacing him with Warnock.

Neil is just after one thing and that is money, to turn down a chance to play champions league football, just proves this and i am glad we have got rid of the greedy money grabber and now have a proper loyal and more commited captain with Robbie Savage

  4. who's going to be captain now that it looks like Neills gone and Todd's possibly on his way to 'gers?!

Not a lot of captain material in the first team is there...i'm not a fan of keepers as captains, and Tugay doesn't play all the time so who does that leave?

a certain Robbie Savage or the big Kiwi when he's back are my favourites

  5. for all those people who were backing Neil on here, what do you think about now?

To me he is only after one thing and that is money, he does not care less who he plays for as long as he is getting paid silly money. How can a move to West Ham further his career

I think he is just a Greedy Aussie

  6. He'll definitely get booed. The people who say they won't boo him probably won't boo him, but the vast majority almost certainly will.

That's getting off the point though. Do you think Mark Hughes (a very talented manager) continues to play captain Lucas because:

1)He hates Rovers and doesn't know what is best for us, or

2)He thinks Neill has been doing a professional job and is one of our better defenders?

i don't mind Neil playing for us in the team because he is a good defender, but i would rather have someone who is committed and has passion for the Club like Savage or big Brad to be captain then a want away.

  7. Off the top of my head Southampton did it with Beattie and Fulham did it with Boa Morte. There must be a few others.

Mark Hughes isn't stupid - something people seem to be very strongly implying. He knows what the situation is!

yes and i heard the Fulham fans were booing him on Saturday as well, so the fans who say they will not boo Neil when he comes back to play against us, i think are talking crap.

  8. in the 1st half against arse why did lucas argue about the ball going out play and us getting the throw in??riversiders did it look different than it it did from the bbe?

he might have thought he was playing in a red shirt

    1. They have better reserves.

    2. He hsa actually signed an agreement for somebody else.

    what does that matter?

A player who want's away from the club should not be made Captain, do you know any other clubs that will do that?

  9. you're quite right, den.

he's had re-occuring groin problems, but he's been complaining he's been ill, on and off since october!

reading the times last wk, they stated he was due to return against boro after a hamstring problem.

    found a link - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,277-2518421,00.html

virus, groin and hamstring! he's really been in the wars.

if he's has got a virus, which he can pass on to others, i think Mark Hughes will make sure he is no were near the club

  10. If thats what you want to believe. You think if Arsenal or Man U had wanted Bellamy and had come in for him he would have turned them down??

If Shearer had no intention of going anywhere else bar Newcastle then why have talks with Man U in 1996?

I'm not saying boo any of them. It's just Lucas is the most innocent of the 3 IMO

thats what Bellamy and Shearer have quoted in the past so yes.

For lucas the main reason why i think the fans are starting to boo is not because he wants to leave it's because he has the captain's armband on.

Anyway i don't want to bring up that debate up again

  11. People do let their love of Rovers dominate over rational thinking. People were even questioning why Bellamy wanted to leave us for Liverpool. I'm sure Craig is sat at home now contemplating the Champions League knockout game at the Nou Camp thinking "....if only I'd stopped at Ewood" The cry in the summer though was that Bellamy didnt let the club know what he was doing till too late, and lied to the fans about his get-out clause.

Players want to spend their careers playing in the biggest games possible. At 28, Neill now sees this iast the best chance he'll have of going to a genuine 'big' club (i.e not Tottenham or Brum). Perfectly logical thinking by the man and yet he gets booed for it?

I wonder how many of these people who now boo Neill are ones who moaned at the treatment dished out to Alan Shearer, who was far less open about his departure?

Shearer only went because Newcastle came in for him, just like Bellamy with liverpool
