  1. 'fraid not. Nothing against him personally, if I were in his position I would probably lead the same unprofessional lifestyle, if not worse. Id be a real #### with it aswell. I just dont want him for the reasons I have stated. Its real life not Football Manager. All he would be is a huge cash drain on our already tight resources. If that makes me look to have an agenda in some way the so be it.
  2. Maybe you haven't spotted the slight flaw in your misty eyed ramblings..... That article is from 4 YEARS AGO!!!! Nobody is disputing that Dunny WAS once a great player, he just isn't any more. Pull up some Gazza reports from Italia 90 and we'll all get the kleenex out. Still doesn't make him good enough to play for Rovers RIGHT NOW does it?? In fact, Dunn has done very very little from that day til this. His career is gone, get used to it. All he will ever be now is a bit part player wherever he is because his body is ravaged by injury. This is made 100 fold worse by the fact that he doesn't look after himslef and live the life that a professional athlete should. If we are to become a consistent european challenging team we need a squad of fit hungry players who are available every week. Dunn is about as far away from that ideal as you can get. Leave the nostalgia for the photo albums and lets sign up some players who can make a REAL difference instead of looking at an injury prone token 'local lad done good'. Im into results not fairytales.
  3. He wont sign because luckily, unlike the majority of posters in this therad, Hughes lives firmly on planet earth and not cloud cuckoo land. Some of the comments im reading are so naive its untrue. "If he regains fitness" they say!! Has the penny not dropped yet or what? He 'regains fitness' hundreds of times and then promptly breaks down again after 2 or 3 games. IMO he's finished but thats irrelevant. He could show 100 per cent for a medical at Rovers and two weeks later be out for 3 months, then he'll come back play 2 and bam, 3 months out again. He has played hardly any games since he has gone there. He is not the player you all remember, can't you get that through? I know he's rovers but that is no reason to sign him. maybe they should be looking at all of us eh?? If we sign him i'll be really fuming because it would signal a huge step backwards in terms of the squad mentality IMO. bellamy might be a mouth but he takes his football VERY seriously. they are the kind of 'troublesome' players who are worth the risk. Not 'can't be arsed' pissheads. As a few have said, Souness was bang on regards this one. Best bit of business we ever did. Leave the past in the past and lets move on.
  4. I find your comparison with Savage and Bellamy bizarre to be honest. Savage has always been a real grafter. yes he has daft hair and daft cars but ON the field he is a 100 per cent'er. He has never had any disciplinary problems that I am aware of and isnt known to be a party animal. Bellamy has had his troubles but for the right reasons IMO. He wants to play ever week and he wants to win. I dont see similarities between the two.
  5. No, no it wouldn't. ANYTHING we offered him would be a complete waste. We have a small enough squad as it is without wasting what little money we have on injury prone wasters. He WAS a great player. He hasn't been for a good few years though. Maybe we should bring back Ripley and Wilcos whilst we're at it eh?? Leave the past in the past. What we need are more fit, hungry, ambitious players and I have no doubt that Hughes knows that. Say what you want about players of yesteryear drinking it is irrelevant. Players of today look after their bodies better than ever and Dunn really needs to learn that. You get out what you put in and as far as im concerned he is more interested in beer birds and motors than football. They can keep him thankyou very much. Theereis a good spirit at Rovers now, a real ogetherness. everyone knows their role and everyone works hard. bringing in characters like Dunn will just throw all that into jeapordy. I really cant understand so many of you entertaining the idea.
  6. This is the mentalist thread ever. I cant even believev the Birmingham fans are discussing it, like they'd be losing a key player or something. INJURED PLAYERS ARE NO USE TO ANYONE. Dunny is the biggest crock in the Premiership and we I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. He is always injured yet he is always out on the pop. See any connection? He is totally unprofessional and Birmingham are more than welcome to continue picking up his 40k a week tab until the end of his ridiculous contract. All the best to the mugs.
  7. Absolutely definitely NOT. Dunn is a crock and has been for several years now. Its not just the fee you have to consider but wages also. I believe his Birmingham contract is approx 40k per week so he isnt going to accept much of a drop, if any, is he?? 2 million pounds a yeasr for a player who will offer little or nothing is VERY bad business for a club with our delicate financial situation. All monies must be spent extremely wisely. Hughes is no mug and I dont think he would have any interest in Dunny whatsoever.
  8. Emerton gets a real hard time IMO, far more criticism than he deserves. He is one of those frustrating types of player that you see so many of. He shows all too rare flashes of brilliance that if he could produce every week he would be a real world beater. The physical ability is there however I fear he will never have the mental toughness to make the most of his abilities. A very strange thing to say about an Aussie. All in all though I thing we MORE than got value for money with him. What do people expect for 1.5 million pounds?? One thing you cant criticise is the lads work rate, he will run all day for you. Im sure if we wanted rid there would be plaenty of takers but personally I dont see the point. He is a useful member of the squad and I cant see us getting any better for similar money.
  9. I dont buy a lot of this you know. The opinion I have isnt one held by many but the bottom line for me is that this just isnt much of a footballing area anymore, people just seem so apathetic. I know tons of lads who are supposedly rovers fans and they have the time and means to go but they just dont want to, 'cant be arsed'. What it comes down to is passion and there is a real lack of it amongst many of our stay away fans. In fact, there is a lack of it in the ground as well. I know quite a few lads with season tickets who aren't really Rovers fans, they just do it as a social thing. i shudder to think what the attendances would be without those sorts as well. The lack of atmosphere reinforces these views. Even when we produce a good atmosphere it doesn't come close to the type of hostile bear pit that the scousers turned Goodison into on saturday.
  10. Well, ive only just joined!! One swallow does not make a summer my friend. I just dont see where he fits in. That performabnce alone, and lets be fair 2 of those goals were tap ins, he has looked no better than average in any position IMO. You tell me, do you honestly think that an efficiently performing Blackburn Rovers machine would include David Bentley?? Not for me. He is just a luxury player that clubs like ours cannot afford to accomodate.
  11. Ive not read the whole thread but some of the replies are down right crazy. I cant believe people are trying to defend the performance by saying 'its hard to play against 10 men', 'they put everyone behind the ball' etc. Has it escaped your attention that the score was NIL-NIL at the point of the sending off?? They didn't hang on with 10 men, they BEAT us fair and square with 10 men. Lets be honest, TV replays show that at least one of their disallowed goals was perfectly legitimate so it could have been worse. I think this is the pattern for the rest of the season now. We will score some more great, maybe even unexpected, results but then we will have days like Saturday. The midfield, the engine room, is very week IMO. Full of 'nothing' players. Im happy enough with the defence even if we probably could improve on Gray, I think the addition of a couple of midfield players and a decent partner for Bellers is a must in the summer. I must say, I really dont understand the signing of Bentley. Long term I dont think he is good enough to command a place in the first 11 and it wreaks of a panic buy to me.
