I'd got for Armstrong on loan too. It's obviously not worked out for him at Soton, the team is struggling and he's still not playing as far as I'm aware. He must be champing at the bit to get back playing first team football and scoring goals again and we know he loves Rovers. Not the big, ugly bruising CF I think we need but he'd be more of an asset than Gallagher, Hirst and the the others

He’d certainly be good on the counter attack, which is often when we look most threatening.

Madness if anyone doesn’t think we  need a striker. Look at the xG, look at the goal difference. We aren’t scoring enough goals.

It’s a big reason we can’t come back from behind and aren’t nicking any points from losing positions.

We need a striker, but we also seem some players to create chances for them.
Though the chances may come if we replaced Gally, so many forward moves break down as soon as the ball goes to him.

Perhaps they looked shattered after the Cardiff game because they have not been used to putting a full match of effort in. You should look shattered after a match.

And they will have had a week to recover from it.

We need our attack to start to click, there was a few promising signs against Cardiff, but the moves broke down(mostly when the ball went to Gallagher). Less pressure on this game, so it would be a good chance to continue the ‘project’.

If it goes tits us for us in the league, which it most likely will, a good cup run would be nice, not to mention financially beneficial.

The pitch has been crap for years - I don't know what's going on with the drainage, but it can't handle any significant amount of water anymore. The Preston game last year was a disaster.

Pre-Venky’s I seem to remember us having a nice pitch(though it was very ropey during some of the 90’s!). You’d thing with the football JDT wants to play that it would be a priority, maybe as important as signing an extra player.

I find it bizarre when challenges like the studs to Garretts groin get yellows. Like, fair enough if the officials are unsighted and only give a foul or wave play on, but how can you see an infringement worthy of further punishment occurred and not realise that reckless studs in the jewels should be worthy of a straight red? Its like the ref realised that everyone in the stadium but him and the linesman saw what it was and he's just given a token card in reaction to the reaction. Was one of about 3 bizarre non decisions that went against us.

Seems to be most games we have a terrible referee. It’s gone on for seasons. I don’t watch much non Rovers Championship matches; are they that bad across the whole league?

So much money at stake and nothing ever seems to get done. I’m 50/50 with VAR, but I’m starting to think it’s a necessity.

If Dack’s goal hadn’t have gone in the net, it should have been a penalty for handball, but I’ve no faith that it would have been given.

It shouldn't matter to us where he plies his trade, as long as it isn't in the famous blue and white of Blackburn Rovers. We have enough powder-puff strikers on our books already, without having to try to shoe-horn a complete dolloper like Hirst into the side. I mean, that header by Gally in the first half on Thursday, which everyone knows should have been down into the ground rather than straight at the keeper... does anyone seriously believe that Hirst would have even been anywhere near the goal, let alone in a position to convert such an excellent chance? Not I, for one.

That Hirst continues to make the team sheet at all is a complete mystery to most of us, so the notion of giving him time to 'bed in' seems paradoxical in the extreme - we need players who are hungry to play, who are capable of doing the job, and who actually have a modicum of skill and capability - not 'little boy lost' types like George Hirst, who are plainly just being passed around the game like some embarrassing and unwanted family heirloom.

The ONLY way back for Hirst, IMO, would be for him to set the scoring records on fire at a lower level at the club and by doing so to force his way back into contention for the first team squad. Otherwise I'd rather be taking a chance on a lump of coal magically transforming into the next Rover's striking legend... dream on Georgie boy, or perhaps more aptly, Jog On.

Rover's new striking gem - Andy Coal..

    Andrew Coal I think he’d prefer 😉

We signed him just before New Years Eve 2001, I remember being over the moon and excited to see him play. I seem to remember singing his chant in the early hours of New Year’s Day walking home from a night out! What a year followed his signing. These days we’ve got Gally and our top signing is George Hirst. We never knew at the time how good we had it….

i don`t think he cost us the game,we lost our shape within a minute of the restart, bloody morton losing the ball again was at fault for the first boro goal

Is it in the loan T&C’s that he has to play? I think Adam Wharton is much the better player and I’d rather see us play and develop him. The loan seems to benefit Liverpool more than us.

Thought JB played well first half, had some great moments. Harsh red, but a needless way to get sent off.

  8. I think I’m done. Since Venky’s took over it’s been nothing but misery. The only high point was promotion from League One after that nobhead took us down. Same old shit season after season. There’s no enjoyment. It’s just Groundhog Day.

I’m wondering if I could get hypnotised to completely careless about football. Be one of those fuckers that says “it’s just a game”.

Looking forward to tonight game and watching Rovers live again. Rovers to win 2-1 with Gallagher and BBD scoring.

Yet, we are 3rd in the league with a new footballing management structure in place where the head coach and DoF have been 6 months, recruitment staff about 2 to 3 months so I would say we are well ahead where I thought we would be. JDT need time and patience to build his own team playing in the style he wants us to. I see this season has transition season in the long term plan of getting promote and staying there.

The performances have been average to poor, even when we’ve won, I’m not sure he can get us promote. I’d love to see us get promote. I just think if he wasn’t so stubborn and mixed it up a bit we could definitely get in the play offs and maybe get promote as we have the foundations of a good team.

It’s been a Jekyll and Hyde season, so it’s not always easy to completely write us off. 1-0 Rovers Lenihan OG.

hirst will bag a hatrick tonight, left foot inside the post after nutmegging the lenihan, right foot first time shot that beats the keeper with sheer power and soaring header that bullets itself into the top corner💥 as you can see im`e kind of clutching at straws but you gotta be optimistic

How much Sherry did you put in that trifle? 😉
