Our recruitment should fit the way we play football.

Not sure if you’ve still blocked me for questioning some of your previous statements. But if you haven’t, serious question, do you feel this is the case?

Do you feel that the recruitment in this window and the last ones has fitted the way we play football. Im struggling to work out where a 37 year old CB fits with ‘the model’ or where Ennis fitted with that same model.

  2. I know we’ve gone down this wonderful and fashionable head coach and DOF model. But you can’t tell me that JDT couldn’t have picked up some better players than the ones being pushed on him. Plodders and kids. GB hasn’t given us a single decent signing. I give him no credit for Sammy as that was the previous scouting.

Only here is he somehow still in a job. Yet again we come out of a January window weaker than we went in to it while all around us have strengthened.

  3. I wonder if the owners really don’t get the reputational damage they are doing. We won’t even get conversations with players and agents if this carries on. They could maybe get away with the O’Brien stuff and blame it on the big bad FA. They can’t with this. They got the player on a flight and changed their mind mid way through his journey.

Other players, clubs and agents will refuse to deal with us. We won’t even be able to sign players as we won’t even get the conversations with clubs as we’ll be seen as time wasters and Charlatans.

It’s worrying. I wonder if they culture from the owners is one of a lack of respect to the minions (players/agents) that they are dealing with.

  4. When Chaddy criticises the club you know they have got something badly wrong.

We have to hope that it is all down to a miscommunication as clearly any incoming would depend on Wharton going. If that deal hasn’t happened then we have to hope that Maguire’s representatives have been informed of that and they’ve potentially used it to secure a back up plan should the Wharton money not be forthcoming,

I do wonder if there is anything in the moving of the court case to March. Would it be harder to argue that we need £11m to keep the lights on if we’d just spent £3m or so on a new signing. Could there be concerns that they will not be able to argue their case on that basis.

If it is the worse case scenario then you have to expect GB and JDT to walk. Neither can do their job on this basis.

Love to agree with you Nicko, but how can we spend 50% of that £23m when, by your own admission, it's coming over the next few windows, so we haven't actually got it yet?

If you mean we should be spending ,half of that £23 over the coming transfer windows I agree with you

So you think that we get paid in instalments but have to pay for the players we are signing up front?? Can you see where that falls down a little?

  6. Hull have shown how to play a transfer window when on the edge of the playoffs. Three good signings, each time we’ve been in the playoffs we seem to have weakened our team in the January window. It’s no coincidence that on two consecutive seasons we were well placed in the playoff spots only to miss out completely.

  7. They will have known that Wharton is likely to be off for at least a week or two so surely we’ve been looking at options to bolster the midfield. We were already light after Travis going as Buckley isn’t going to be fit for a while. Surely we have some targets lined up and all but agreed subject to Wharton going.

That’s what any sensible club would be doing anyway

Tell you what they are making what should be a straight forward idea into something difficult to understand aren't they?

Once upon a time it was just 'tickets on sale until kick off' especially when you've 10,000+ set to be empty.

Nowadays we have ticket office shut, digital tickets ok until kick off, club shop and telephone sales good until 5pm, i.e. until most people clock off work, but then bizarrely we aren't selling any this way after this time, though I assume the shop will be open pre-match just not selling any tickets for the game.

Apparently on police advice though still waiting for someone to explain why it is ok for someone to buy a digital ticket at 7pm but not ok for them to go into the shop or ring the club and buy that way instead.

I’m guessing they will only be sold in home ends if you have a ticket buying history. Saw yesterday what happens with away fans in home ends.

  9. Im pleased someone called out the ‘get £25m for Wharton and sign 6 players nonsense’.

We’ve just had to slash the wage bill so I can’t suddenly see us freeing up wages for 6 new players. If we take it from the Wharton money it leaves us about £500k for the signing. We are shopping in bargain basement land!

Ideally we can get a high earner in Gallagher off the books. His wages may allow us to bring in one or two players on loan. He’s on a decent amount.

The lad from Newport looks like he knows where the back of the net is 🙂

Or if we want to take a gamble fork out the £1.5m for Macaulay Langstaff.

  10. We know how money works with this lot. Even if we get £20m the argument is that the money will have to cover the wages and fee over the 4 years of the deal. They’ll convince us that we are lucky to be given a new £2m pound signing.

In a normal club with all money reinvested then it could make sense. Here, knowing we’ll get a fraction of the money then it makes no sense to sell now.

Not confirmed by 'finger NOT on the pulse' LT's Elliott Jackson, though no surprise there.

Where the feck are the experienced signings JDT wants?

Scores on the doors, in 3 inexperienced youngsters, out our experienced captain.  You couldn't make it up.

Danger of building for tomorrow is tomorrow never arrives!

Also out is a premier league level defender in Hill.

  12. Both. They aren’t allowed to do any more than just the running costs but EFL rules would probably make it difficult to put money in if they could (I’d argue that they could put in money knowing it’s coming later, I’m thinking the Raya money) but with the Indian court issue that doesn’t seem to be possible .

  13. A couple of million less on the Raya money if we take it now..and someone on here is actually suggesting that taking it now would be a good move. Madness!!

Thats nearly half of it knocked off at a time when we know signings cost more typically. Just wait until January and have the full amount.

Chaddys maths is a bit out as well (shock). Out of that £5m we may get to spend a couple on a player as there will be wages and fees to cover as the current status with the Indian courts will only cover the existing (and reduced) wage bill.

We’re in a mess but luckily I think we probably have just enough extra points to stay up.
