Hughes
Advocat
Strachan
-
Todd is also still injured.
-
Parkes has come out on the official site saying he expects a new manager to be named sooner than later, he also says he might only have one game in charge.
Sounds like we might have an announcement to make next week.
-
you tell us Hughesy
i'm sure you'd be the first to know if there was one.
-
I think Diouf suffered by being played out of position, he looked great up front for Senegal when being played as a striker but looked poor on the wing.
I honestly think he will do well at Bolton, still don't think Houllier is the man for us, just don't see him being able to lift the spirit in the dressing room.
-
Leslie Hughes (yes that is his real name) with Mike Newell as his assistant would be a good choice, still feel Strachan could do well for us.
-
One of the ever reliable rumours on Hughesy's inside info website.
My mate is kit-man at Millwall and he has been told that Alan Shearer is on his way due to the turmoil at Newcastle for first team football.Get your money on it, must be right as its on a website!!!!!
-
That football rumours website is absolutely shocking Hughesy, Less reliable than your "other" sources
-
LeChuck posted it but didn't say he didn't come up with it...... there was me thinking he was a funny guy!!!
-
I wonder which current Premiership managers could be interested in the job, My guess would be;
Redknapp (big fall out with manderic in the Summer)
Dowie (bigger club than Palace....just)
Curbs (just dreaming)
-
Hughesy, Unless you are actually John Williams I think its fairly safe to say its all speculation and paper talk.
A lot of the names are just common sense, the likes of Hoddle apply for every job going. Some others are being mentioned because they are certain members preferred choice (Strachan) and some are mentioned because the press have been linking them (Advocat, Hughes)
Until the club actually come out and confirm it I think we will just have to continue to speculate.
-
In some ways it would be quite funny if Dick Advocaat got the job, I can just imagine Jan trying to return the season ticket she bought yesterday.
-
With JW's good relationship with Souness I wonder if we could pick up any of their players on the cheap come January.
I'm sure there will be a number of players who he will believe are surplus to requiremnts who might relish a move to get first team football. I know he carries a bit of baggage but if we could get Bowyer on loan it could be useful. He hasn't got back to his top form at Newcastle but he is young enough to turn his career around and get himself back in the England setup

Come on then Betfair Pro's, I have a question.
I have just been looking at the site and it looks like you can basically choose your own odds. How does that work, what happens if I ask for Strachan at 9.00, do I then have to wait and see if anyone will match it???
At the moment it comes up "unmatched", just thought I'd have a bit of a play with it while I'm off work today.
-
12 applications for the job so far.
-
Saunders is going with him as well as Murray and boersma, according to Sky
-
Why a new thread....... Muppet
-
Good interview with JW on Sky, he has already had applications for the job. Important to get it right and get the right person.
-
Any of those 3 would be fine by me. Preferred order would be O'Neill (very doubtful that we would get him), Strachan, Hughes
-
Downunderrover, I think we are all keen on Strachan after seeing how he worked wonders with Southampton on a tight budget, they are a similar club to us so at least he has done well at a club with a tight budget and has experience at the top level.
Pleason not Houllier is all I will say.
-
For some reason I'm not really upset about this. I thank GS for what he has acheived with our club but I feel we need a change.
As the club are on a tight budget we should go for Strachan, at least then we could re-use Soueys training tops and stuff, GS replacing GS.
Thanks for the memories Souey.

Since March 2000 Souness has spent 42.62 million and recouped 33.85m. over 4 seasons that works out as a deficit of 2.19m a year. So Bobby only speant about 3m a year more than Souness but has left Newcastle with some of the best young players in the country.
When you look at the figures his signings have actually been pretty good. Souness has spent a lot of money on players that we will never recoup money on, Bobby spent it on main ly young players who will move on for larger fees.
-
As I'm a little bored this morning I have done a bit of research into Bobby's transfer signings... For 1 point who knows the first player he paid a fee for............................................. It was Rover's very own Kevin Gallacher.
Anyway, here is the total he has spent on Players.
04-05 4.5m
03-04 3.6m
02-03 15.0m
01-02 29.0m
00-01 2.0m
99-00 6.5m
Total 59.5m
And here is the total he has bought in
04-05 15.85m
03-04 3.5m
02-03 0.15m
01-02 0.4m
00-01 8.65m
99-00 4.1m
Total 32.65m
So his transfer deficit is £26.85m over 5 seasons (Cant really include 04-05 as he only managed 4 games) which works out as £5.37m a season. When you think how high they have finished over the last few seasons I think his dealings have been pretty good. I know he has had a couple of costly errors but don't they all. If each place in the Prem is worth 500k and Bobby took Newcastle from relegation fodder to Champions League positions I think his outlay is justified.

So using Jims logic, Manchester United should have got rid of Ferguson when he had a torrid time of it in the late 80's.
New Manager is Mark Hughes

probably best to keep quiet for a while Hughesy, you really are making it easy for people.
