We seem incapable of keeping our better players, even if it’s to teams in the Championship? On the assumption Brittain / Travis leave.
Confirms our “ambition” and clearly our financial challenges are maybe worse than being reported.

Turning out to be the longest saga(s) ever? (these contract “negotiations”).
Or is it an (unlikely) case of no news is…..
Contradicts Gestede’s comments a few months ago when he suggested we were close to announcing some extensions - same old story.

Disappointing to lose Batth - we always looked solid with him in the team (backed up by the defensive stats).
Decent championship experience too which is very important.
Money must be extremely tight on wages, hence the on-going contract discussions; it will be interesting to see if we can actually keep any of our better players.

So, not surprisingly, there has been complete silence since Waggott’s departure.
There’s been nothing at all - not even rumours - about a replacement.
I can’t think of many clubs where there’s such a complete communication vacuum, especially after the CEO leaves.

Lose track of all the nonsense that goes on these days at Rovers - as others have said (and was speculated recently) then Gestede for CEO could be a possibility - anything which doesn’t make sense and lacks ambition usually fits the criteria.

An owner communicating in public with their fans - https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2025/05/from-the-top-a-message-from-david-clowes-may-2025

Seems very scripted - totally out of his depth and comes across as a smarmy prick.

Post match the sky pundits talked mostly on Boro - when they did discuss Rovers, they were quite punchy on potentially VI being sacked (even at this stage) and also questioning Gestede “younger players” focus on his interviews. It’s positive that the running of the club is being discussed publicly again as most normal football people will ask what is going on, and question the decision making.
The crap being spouted by our “exec team” needs to stop.
No one with any aspirations would hire our current head of football operations or current manager.
The piss taking needs to stop and we (the fans) are the ones suffering.

Following on from that interview with the 3 stooges i'm still struggling to get my head around why appoint this guy.
They went through their tick box exercise and said he hit the standard on all of them and that is extremely worrying and i suspect a bit of a lie.
Could understand Eustace he was ideal for where we were, had a cv of saving a struggling club from relegation then having them in the top 6. Could understand JDT even if he was another left field appointment, good brand of continental style football and had just won back to back Swedish top league titles.
This guy though is nothing more than a mercenary looking at his record yet they waxed on about him bringing everything we need to the table.
Can only assume that a WLD dull style football record and aiming for 12th is what they aspire to as long as they can tell him who to play and keep selling players from under him.
This was nearly as bad as Waggots 'best bus in football' snakeoil job.
Doesn’t make sense and doesn’t stack up but what does…? Gestede as head of football operations because he’s a former player and has no credentials at all for the role……..it’s all a total sham.

Terrible demeanour and looks like he switches off at points during matches….just sits there and looks fed up.
Must be up there with one of the worst starts to a managerial reign, had some decent fixtures too.
Maybe needs another international break to give him extra time to get his “ideas” across to the players (with a lot of them out of contract in the summer, I’m sure their care factor will be high…)

Well done @glen9mullan and all involved - loads of coverage generated today.
Regarding Gestede - was yet again a very odd appointment.

Why is everyone concerned about other football teams problems?
Does it change our own teams situation?
OK, it's a problem, but let's fight our own battles, win them, and then bother obout other teams.
Local rival and their situation is of course relevant to us as we have similar financial problems - strange post...

Wow, massive losses/debt, that's why I was asking the other day how we fair comparatively.

They are missing a few key players - plus are as average as us so thinking we won't lose...
-
Have to say, care factor is very low.

Exchanged a few PMs with Kelvin over the years - a thoroughly nice man who cared deeply about Rovers.
Very sad news.
RIP

Can anyone seriously remember another Premier League manager being done for drink driving?!
Along with that, the Germany incident with a Sky Sports reporter (drunk again). The pi**ed up video when he claimed top 10 finish and a trophy.
These are just the stories we know about too.
He is a first rate chancer who is taking the mick remaining in his role.

With Kean and Hendry regarded as big drinkers and in poor shape themselves, hardly a good example to be set by management -- feel sorry for Eric Black who is one of the more normal members of staff we have behind the scenes.

Sorry to hear this news - RIP.

RIP Fred.

So so sad :-(

Kean looks very withered in that Granada interview. Pale skin, jittery and altogether less comfortable than I've ever seen him before.
Could be that he might not be feeling well at the moment but I thought he did not look that healthy.
-
Think Kean fits in perfectly with the way Venkys currently want to run the club.
Would be strange having a proper manager in charge under these owners, cant really imagine it.
