  1. No point in calling for players to be included from Reserve or Youth team coz they aren't any better. He's got to work with what he has. I suggest... Work on the defence, get them doing basic stuff like marking centre forwards. Play 5-3-2 or 5-4-1 if need be because we HAVE to stop conceding goals. Also get in a right-back before the month's out. Abandon wide men coz we don't have anyone deserving of a place on the left and Bentley needs to be on the ball as often as we can. Maybe Reid, Dunn, A Newbuy and Bentley behind Santa or McCarthy up with Santa and Bentley in Mid. We therefore need a centre-mid to replace Savage. But the main thing is we need to be able to keep the ball and that just means practice and not having players in the team who constantly give the ball away ( Tugay, Mokoena, Pedersen, Emerton) Our possesion retention is nothing short of amateurish at the moment.
  2. One things for sure I don't think we need to worry about Man Utd coming knocking for a while....
  3. Correct. I regularly go for a Gypsy's at HT just to get some taunting in.
  4. In 1979 it was £1.10 to get into the Blackburn End. A pint of bitter was about 40p. Therefore as a pint is now about £2 it should be no more than £6 to get in the Rovers. But Mars Bars should be 90p.
  5. The last time we had a gate of over 30,000 for a PL game was on 13 September 2003 (against Liverpool).
  6. A few memories. Ewood Park - 20/10/1984. Weather: Gale Force 10 blowing towards the Darren End. (those were the days) Jim Branagan cuts inside and launches a shot from just further forward than the centre circle that picks up pace on the wind and flies into the net. Rovers 1 Oldham 1 Travelled to Pompey the day after my 19th birthday, already hung over and topped up before the match. Pompey scored 2 og's in a 2 - 2 draw. And of course.... The legendary "after 40 years of peace in Europe game" in the return against Pompey....whatever would Wenger say if he had witnessed that! Then there was the ManU cup tie when Jimmy Hills half time analysis from a garden shed between the Riverside and Darwen End was constantly interreupted by a ######-up soul chanting "Cabin End....Cabin End....Cabin End". Where you that man? Legend.
  7. Dull nil-nil affair. Zurab, Henchoz and Rigters started. Rigters didn't do much apart from a good run and shot late on. Looks a fair way off the first team at the moment. Judge did well and Brown looked secure in goal. Zurab was lucky not to be sent off. Apart from that not a lot to report.
  8. WHU are as good as down IMO. Only a continued disastrous run by Wigan can save them. It reminds me of our relegation season...the players are good enough but not up for it. Only 5/11 games left are at home and they still play Spurs , Man U, Bolton, Chelsea, Arsenal, Sheff U away and Rovers away. After todays game at Arsenal, Wigan only have to visit Anfield, all the other games they can get points from, and they will still have a game in hand. If WHU don't come back up straight away they must be in serious trouble....
