No not directly but the telegraph are running with a story that we want to take a Manchester City wide man on loan but the move has been held up due to the player in question going to the States with City on their pre season tour

The Maddison link is by us fans...No stories in the press linking us. Nothing coming out of the club linking us.

Don't get me wrong I hope Maddison is a target and I hope we do sign him but you can't say Mowbray lost out on his plan a target If we don't sign him as none of us know if he is a player that Mowbray wants

I think that I might be responsible for starting the Maddison rumours. However, since then a lot of people on here have sort of agreed with me.

That's how I read it. Could be that TM sees this purchase as important while Armstrong and Chapman can be loans.

Missing out on Maddison may allow us then to buy those 2 outright.

Probably. But I would rather have Maddison. I think that he could create lots of chances for our team. Marriott benefited big time.

I think the reality is we don't have an large pile of cash and therefore we must must must be clever with it. I don't Bauer is the be all end all I would be happy to see Wharton given a chance as 4th back up. I would like to see 2 strikers in. Armstrong and Gallagher as my preference with options to buy. Maddison would be a marquee signing with the stats that he has. And Chapman would be the cherry on the cake

Totally agree with all that you said.

Where was that?  Its not on his twitter. All he has said is one club has made three bids for Marriott in last week and a team that wasnt in the Championship last year has met the release clause for Maddison but are trying to pay it in installments instead of upfront. So it wasn't Leeds.

It was from a Leeds fan, but maybe he didn’t confirm it was actually from them. However he did say that there had been new bids in.

We need height up front desperately and he's proved he can score goals at this level plus well he's better than Samuel so it's an interesting one although I think he'll end up somewhere that's prepared to pay a big loan fee.

Yes but he isn’t very good in the air for somebody so tall.

Later in transfer window 500k + add ons.

After seeing the posh chairman’s tweets, perhaps my glass half full attitude is telling me that we’ve almost signed Marcus Maddison. Either that or the 4 cans of Red Stripe...!

I have asked:- Peterborough chairman 3 times, Richard Sharpe twice and Nixon twice about Maddison sand none have replied!!

If we were to spend up to 2.5 mill on one player ( we Won't ) i'd like it to be a striker who's almost nailed on to bag 15+ goals in the champ. That would prove a vital bit of business.

I think a 15 goal a season striker would cost a lot more than £2.5M. I think Maddison scored 12 goals and had 23 assists in 2017-18!! That would be a pretty good return for £2.5M.

It hasn't been mentioned on any site that we are interested so unfortunately I'm becoming increasingly confident it's not us. Always seemed a signing which would be too good to be true.

Keep the dream alive you never know. It all depends on highly Tony rates him. He could see him as a major catalyst to make things happen, in which case he may think £2.5M is a price worth paying. Until he has gone somewhere else I will keep wishing and hoping.

Maddison is close. Mentioned this days ago.

Hi do you have any idea what the fee is likely to be? I am sure that the Peterborough chairman in one of his tweets mentioned a £2.5 release clause payable in one lump sum and yet somebody is quoting him as saying it is "£1M ish". Do you know the answer?

I sent a few tweets asking about rovers interest in him...No reply and I'm sure other rovers fans have asked same but no mention on his timeline. He is answering other clubs fans

Yes I did the same last week with no reply, so hopefully it might be us, especially as he will be aware that Rovers like to negotiate secretly until the deal is done.

See chapman is being mooted as a loan deal, if that’s the case I’d rather make a signing rather than a loan. Don’t see what advantage we get from a loan player doing well for us other than possibly a few extra points but wages used, no resale value and stopping one of our own development makes it a no from me despite me liking chapman.

If it is a season long loan it would be good as he is in his last year of his contract and would be a free agent at the end of the loan. Fee to pay though because of his age. I can understand Mowbray being cautious with him after such a very bad injury. Good idea not to risk a fee to buy him until he has proven himself fit.

So by ‘live’ you mean on tv and a highlights show??? (Apart from the couple of times we played them).

Pretty sure you disregard the opinions of people who haven’t been at games but have said they’ve seen the highlights so guessing you’re happy for your comments to be disregarded in the same way.

Yes and he was injured when we played them at Ewood, so not much to go off. If you watch his YouTube videos he has a wand of a left foot.

Mowbray mention the words 'inverted winger' not me.

You ask me to name my team using the current squad. More signings will happen so my team will change. If we sign players like Kent and Armstrong then my team would change. Like I said before my team would change

I think an “inverted winger” is a winger who plays in the middle of the park.

Imagine if we got Bauer, Maddison, Armstrong and Chapman all bought, and then loaned a Premier League Striker.

SIgning those 4 fits in with positions of need, what Mowbray says about younger players with resell value. Could get most of that done with the Josh King Cut.

Playoffs, you want to talk about playoffs.

That really would be brilliant !!

Posh chairman on twitter saying release clause for Maddison has been met but that the buying club want to pay in installments and not up front so no deal. It must be us!

He also laughed off the 250k Edwards  link to us. Seems they want a million.

Yes I’m following him just in case he gives something away. First thing I thought when he mentioned instalments that it could be us, but can’t see us paying £2.5M for him.

But to make out as though any sort of serious spending or increasing of wages is going to be automatically detrimental to team spirit I think is wrong. A balance can be struck between recruiting quality whilst keeping a good spirit around the camp.

    Agreed.
