  1. No I'm not missing the point. There are people who will moan and whinge regardless, seems to me you are in that camp. Yes it could be better, yes there are systems which are due to be implemented in March that will overcome this problem. However to suggest Rovers should make capital and training investments to satisfy a demand unseen for years and unlikely to be repeated in the medium-term is financial lunacy.

We have a situation in which thousands of fans who have been in the comfort zone for too long suddenly discover it can be difficult to get a ticket at Ewood. I would say to those people buy an ST, support the club more than once every 5 years and give John Williams a sound financial reason to increase the club's investment in ticketing.

I have no problem with the situation, I know what it takes to get a ticket when demand is high and took the necessary action. I suggest others do the same. It isn't difficult. Understand the situation and then take your own actions to ensure one gets tickets. Or is the armchair support now so lazy that's too much to ask?

This constant moaning is irritating beyond belief. Dress it up any way you wish, it's just more moaning.

And with that Paul, you get my vote for best post in the grooby's,

  2. I do hope that everyone is wearing colours for the game. There's be nothing better than the cricket field stand to be a sea of blue and white.

What is the policy on taking flags in? It'd be great if there were a load of blue and white flags waving as well. Anyone got any or know where I can purchase one?

  3. Just exactly who 'bricked it'?...I've felt more intimidated in f'kin Junior school! rolleyes.gif

Get your tickets you marde arses.

Look forward to seeing you in the Miners then Simon biggrin.gif

Been to Plumbe Street Miners quite a bit myself.

Karaoke on Wednesday nights about 12 years ago was always a good night and the ale was cheap. They knew i was a Rovers fan and were always alright with me.

That said I won't be frequenting there a week on Sunday, I don't think I'll be that welcome somehow.

  4. On a side issue, I was telling my lad last night about the trips to Burnley in the early 70's in the Lancs Cup games and friendlies. Blackburn railway station was awash with hundreds of Rovers fans making their way to Burnley. If you imagine the number of people in the concourse under the Bburn End last night 15 mins prior to kick off, that was what the station was like. None of this "I'm going to sh!t myself so I'll go on the coach" rubbish. You just turned up in numbers and went. Service train or car. Never the coach. In those days, however, there were no "Nouveau Rovers fans" just local lads for whom the Burnley game meant everything.

    Nice one.

Whatever happened to the legions of boys that used to follow Rovers home and away? The same ones who were referred to as 'mental' by the self styled nutters of Millwall in THAT seventies documentary?

Some of the old boys I talk to (in their 40's and 50's now) say they hate how the game has become more of a family event than a boys day out. They hanker for the poor football, old terraces and squalid conditions of yesteryear.

Jack Walker has so much to answer for... wink.gif

  5. Pleased with the performance although it's becoming a little predictable with Rovers huffing and puffing but never blowing the house down.

Maybe we should have got a point but is no-one of the opinion that Chelsea did just enough to win and if we had scored (the penalty) they'd have just upped it and got another? We may have competed and put them off their stride but the sustained passing and keep ball came from Chelsea, mainly because players of higher quality can play at a higher tempo. When their players exerted the same amount of pressure on our players we tended to just knock the ball long and lose possession whereas Chelsea would maintain some kind of continuity.

That said, there's a lot to be happy about going into the Boro game and if we repeat that performance against the teams around us safety will be assured sooner rather than later.

Oh and just to add to what others have said before me on this thread, Ryan Nelsen was outstanding, and whisper it....MGP wasn't bad either.

  6. game is reportedly on ppv but I have not seen this anywhere else aprat form Rovers page 504 itv

Can anyone confirm if this game is on live on either ppv or any of the foreign satellite channels locally?

I've checked out satfootball.com and it's on a channel called supersport6sa or something. Is that available in any of the pubs in the area?

  7. Has to be Duff.

Wilcox was one dimensional in my opinion and couldn't beat a man. He was also lucky to play in a team where the centre forward made a ball slung into the box look like a world class centre.

There are no players around like Wilcox now basically because the style of play that best suited him is outdated whereas Duff can fit into any style as he is proving with Chelsea.

  8. I AM SICK OF THIS THREAD. THIS WHOLE MGP THING IS OUT OF ORDER. HE IS A LIGHTWEIGHT WHO IS NOT YET GOOD ENOUGH OR MAN ENOUGH TO PLAY IN THE PREM. hE WAS SIGNED BY THE SAME MAN WHO BROUGHT US AMO AND MATTEO.

NOW ALL YOU NORWEGIANS LET IT GOOOOO, HE WILL BE PLAYED IF AND WHEN HE IS GOOD ENOUGH NOW GIVE IT A ###### REST.

Note to Mark Hughes, FFS don't sign anymore Norwegians, they end up polluting our board wondering why thet did not make it.

I can't put into words how much I admire that post.

  9. Couldn't believe my eyes when I flicked on the text this morning to see

    'Yorke angered by racist chants'.

Sat less than ten rows away from where the supposed racism took place and I heard nothing...not a carrot.

    I think headlines like :

'Rovers fans angered by Yorke's performances' would be nearer the mark.

It all smacks of Yorke taking a ride on the negative publicity of the last week to further try and discredit a club he robbed for two years.

What will the media say next week when Andy Cole gets a great reception off Rovers fans?

  10. ######. ban me. hughes is an idiot.

mgp will show you idiots how this game is played, once he gets the chance.

i hope he goes to newcastle, and i hope he'll make the goals that sends your ###### average club down to where you belong with your 1 div players (reid, flitty, amoruso, gray, neill, dickov, stead, bothroyd ++)

how can you actually reckon that you will survive in the PL with only 4 real PL-players? MGP, fergy, emerton and friedel is the only pl-players.

burn in hell for ruining the greatest talent ive ever seen. i will laugh straight in your faces when morten ###### your club up, fools.

    ######-club fc.

    .

Get off here you total moron.

Just because MGP is different class playing 'sixty seconds' in the streets of the salubrious surroundings of the Arctic circle does not mean he will cut it in the prem.

Get over it clown, he is not and never will be good enough to play at this level. The day when your pathetic little opinion is valued over that of a legend who has played for 4 of the biggest clubs in Europe will be the day you get the booker prize.

  11. First of all I want to thank rover6 for some good posts today on this thread. There haven't been many of them. Let's try and keep to the subject and not come with personal atacks on others.

As a Norwegian I am a big fan of Pedersen, but I am also a rovers fan. Have been for 10 years. My subjectiv view as an Norwegian and rovers fan is that Pedersen decerves a chance to show what he is good for. He had a great game for Norway last week so his form must have improved. He is maybe not good enough for the starting line-up, but he should have gotten 15-20 min today. I can't see that the others have shown much more to deserve to play every game. If Hughes doesn't think he is good enough for the team as a sub than let him play in the reserves til he has proven that he should be in the first team. At the moment he doesn't play at all.

I'm sorry, but to bring him on at 4-0 down when we're getting a panning would do nothing for him.

Personally I'd put de Pedro on the bench and Pedersen in the reserves for a few games. De Pedro seems to be coming to in the second string while Pedersen needs games to prove whether he's good bad or indifferent and IMO these games should be in the reserves.

  12. Bored at work, so I did some web searching.

    CHECK THIS OUT

Someone might want to contact the photographer and find out who won.

    American,

I think you can clearly see that the goose is well on top. It's using it's superior beak speed to get it's shots off and working in close to nullify the swan's reach advantage.

I'm pretty sure that this bout ended in a hospital visit for the swan.

By the way, did anyone read Monday's mirror where a group of 10 black Australian swans infiltrated a lake in Lincoln where a group of English swans were residing? In a kind of Ashes battle the English took the fight to their Australian counterparts and sent them packing.

    Sorry, can't find a link.

  13. Rooney is a fantastic player already and he will only get better. Only thing I have reservations about is his fitness. He's only 18 and has already had two bad injuries that have meant he's missed a lot of games.

As for Man U, he's undoubtedly improved them massively but their dodgy midfield will drag them down and there's no way I think they'll finish above Arsenal and Chelsea in the Prem.

  14. T4E, Bellamy 11 deserves a standing ovation for that quote in your signature.

Yeah, and you deserve a prize for your lack of faith in the lad. Impressive writeoff!

Yeah whatever, just made me laugh that's all.

I'll leave others to draw their own conclusions now as I've made my opinion quite clear.

If he proves me wrong (and I must stress I hope he does) save me a large piece of humble pie.
