I have talked to a journalist who was at the presser.

The context for the quote is that Tony said that Rovers face an embargo in a few years time if sponsorship, sales of merchandise and people attending matches do not rise.  So the quote is genuine but the Sun have taken it completely out of context and used the first part of it to make it sound like it is imminent.

    Panic over.

    Thanks Kamy.

    Back over to you Venkys.

  2. Nyambe gets some amount of crap on here, the kid is 20 years old for gods sake. He is still improving. He is the same age as Travis.

Nyambe adds athleticism to the team when he plays which is very important. If Tony is going back to 3-5-2 with Wing backs, then Nyambe goes to the right side of the back three.

Bennett and Travis at Right Wing Back. If we can find a nasty Centre half, you could move Lenihan up into Midfield.

Edit: I never want to see Bennett as a winger/inside forward in a 4-2-3-1 again. Totally ineffective. Right Back/Right Wing Back or Centre Mid. Might even play him in centre mid over Smallwood and Evans, he was that good in there.

I'll be surprised if our wage bill was 8.5 this season if so they must've settled a load of ongoing contracts for people long gone in one swoop from the capitol injections or something.

Maybe the 8.5 was the target in relation to income in league one but i'll be surprised if they hit that with such a fair sized squad.

Either way i doubt V's will rise it much given how hard it was to get it down. As always prepare to be underwhelmed.

    That's 170k a week in wages.

In Fm2018, you start with around 205k in wages in league 1, so sounds pretty accurate. After Promotion it goes up to 305k I believe. For reference.

I have thought this for some time. Its almost as if he is a generation too late. 15 years ago he could well be plying his trade in the PL back when front twos were commonplace. Not too disimilar to a Michael Owen type.

With one up top being practically the norm these days, small nippy players like him will find it difficult as they do not have the physicality to play the lone role and need a partner.

If I were him, I would do my best to learn and master the inside forward role that he has now as getting a striking berth is going to be tough for him.

    Exactly! Good post

As for the above poster RE Adelukan being a winger in a 3-5-2, interesting point - probably not possible. I just feel Mowbray may be looking at the 3-5-2 given the Bell signing and his insistence on trialling it earlier in the season.

I agree Mowbray will go back to the 3-5-2 that’s what he prefers, only this time he has the summer to bring in the players that fit the system.

                                  Raya

                 Lenihan - New - Mulgrew

    Travis/Nyambe/Bennett——————Bell

                   Smallwood——New

                                 Dack

              Graham/New—-Armstrong

So really your looking at a:

    Starting Big Centre half,

    Quality Centre Midfielder,

    Armstrong

    New large Striker.

Armstong has floundered a wee bit recently but his pace is something we badly need. Need a back up left wing back. Williams can play in the three at the back. Evans probably sticks around, and I want to see if Gladwin can come good. We don’t have any real wingers anyway, maybe that’s by design.

Not too much to ask for.
