  1. Benni's gone on strike, you've got to love the modern day footballer???

For once I'm lost for words and if I'm being honest its making me laugh. So what do we do? Get rid there's no going back from this.

But it doesn't mean we can't use the situation to our advantage.

Bye Bye Benni, enjoy the bright lights and take-aways with floors of gold, Benni in London, all that temptation.

So we're going to have to do something because realistically we'll only get one player out of this and we desperately need creativity.

So two birds one stone, use the Benni cash to get in a creative midfielder, be it Ibricic or someone else but get one.

We'll still need another front-man and we also need to get Hoillet to sign a deal, 2 + 2 and all that.

PS its still making me laugh, its almost as funny as feigning injury to skip international duty last year. What must go on in that lads head???

  2. Well if he has, expect leeds to start a lawsuit, is he not allowed to sign until the end of aprilish?

£3m is the price I believe.

As for striker partners - Id like to see Hoilett given a chance alongside Kalinic, his pace means it only requires one good ball to him and we are in with a great chance of scoring.

He doesn't have the technique to be a premiership striker at present. Just watch him play he's fantastic with the ball at his feet, but his distribution is not the best and he doesn't strike a ball cleanly. Maybe he could move there as he matures but for now he's better where he is as he gets a bit more time and space than in the middle. He needs to develop more before we consider him there, its far from uncommon for this tactic to be taken, just ask Henry. Hoillet needs to be patient if he sees himself as a striker.

  3. I can't see SA getting out of a group with France, Mexico and Uruguay. Sout Africa are terrible at the moment, they didn't even qualify for the African Nations which has such football giants as Mozambique and Gabon in it!!

No host team has ever not made the second round, so history is on their side. I think form goes out of the window with these sort of things.

Also don't forget having SA in for a couple of the later stages is worth good money to FIFA and as they proved with their seeding fiasco they have no issues bending rules for their own means.

Tell you what we can have a gentlemans wager on it?

If SA crash and burn I'll pay for dinner, if they progress you pay??

  4. Id rather Jason Roberts left 1st...at least Benni has the ability to take a chance

Without doubt, surely someone must fancy the football-less Drogba.

Get rid of them both. Too many past it and not good enough players in this squad.

Play the two kids together so at least we can go down fighting, bring Benni "Five Bellies" McCarthy from the bench if need be. I'd be keeping Benni getting him on the pitch late on when hopefully our two young ones have tired the CB's legs. Hopefully he could bag enough to make it to SA and play. I'd then sell after/during the world cup. Its pretty much a certainty the home nation will at least make the second round and hopefully Benni would be leading the line. A few goals at the world cup and you never know.

Couldn't agree more about Roberts though.

  5. A Team Movie trailer

    My link

Looks ok but it will never be the same as the classics without the original actors imo.

I loved this show, especially when they always got trapped with no way out.

Hollywood, get some new ideas FFS. Hopefully they don't do something really stupid like make the car into a transformer.

EDIT: I've just seen the trailer, are they really doing what I think they are doing at the end? very A Team  I wonder if BA's ok in a flying tank?

I got dragged to watch Avatar and I'm quiet shocked to read that some liked it? It ranked alongside Titantic for me, which, well I got woken up at the end of that one. 3D very nice but novelty factor wears off after 5 minutes although I reckon watching a match that way might be good.

  6. But Rovers coaching staff for one reason or another have failed for 18 months to get Benni to level where they call fit. If he is not obeying what they are asking then continual breaking rules consitutes Gross Misconduct and he can Summarily Dismissed from his contract. Now the other point is that the coaches are failing to continually do their jobs, so should be replaced.

Hughes staff also struggled with keeping him fit.

At the end of the day you can't train someone who doesn't want to be trained, and thats Benni. Given his track record at other clubs and the constant criticisms that have followed his career, I wouldn't lay the blame at the coaches feet but his.

  7. Enke has been buried next to the grave of his two-year-old daughter, which of course must be heartbreaking for his wife Teresa.

My heart felt sympathies go out to his family, especially his wife.

  8. La Tasca in Liverpool - you'd be hard pressed to screw up tapas (especially if you do it for a living) but this lot managed it. We went for the chef's special set menu and regretted it. Overpriced, lukewarm food served by crap staff and it wasn't even busy at the time. I've been to the Manchester branch on Deansgate in the past and liked it.

Unfortunatly there seems to be a serious lack of good places to eat in Liverpool. However I reckon we've got more macdonalds per square mile than any other city, they are everywhere.

    Tris whats teal??

  9. We should keep Benni until the end of his contract - he has the best goal scoring ability in our team and he still has alot of the blackburn end behind him. Unless of course someone was daft enough to pay £5m+ for him then I cant see how we could replace him with anything decent or better than him.

    BENNI MCCARTHY!!!

I'd swap him for one of our other Madrid targets from the summer. I wonder whether we could pull the money for him together from just Benni's sale, though.

  10. Flipping heck..first John Barnes and now Ray Mathias. Tranmere fans must be wondering what the hell they've done wrong!!

I think you'll find they have fond memories of Ray at Tranmere almost 600 games in their shirt. He's done well at that level before so all the best Ray, I'm glad you refound your level.

  11. Quite. The players we've got are what the manager has to work with. When I have to put a meal together and can't go to the shops I look in the cupboard etc and decide what I can make with what I've got that will feed us all and be tasty at the same time. I don't insist on making a beef casserole if what I've got is chicken, mushrooms and cream. I think it's the manager's inflexibility that is more annoying than any perceived long ball tactics.

    Couldn't agree more.

  12. I'm afraid its time to retract my previous comments and get this boy back in the team.

I'm past caring how little work he does off the ball, for one reason:

1.) We are currently playing with 10 anyway IMO.

So lets get him on the pitch wandering round doing nothing instead of a certain other player who does similiar. Di Santo's doing well but on his own its no mean task especially with his experience, but him and Benni could definitly work.

Play the boy Sam, please we need goals.

    Quickest response in football ever

But we want both of them in the team, not one or the other.
