1. But that UHL Sport shirt is virtually indestructible. People have moaned about how shoddy shirts have been in the last couple of seasons, but I expect to see cockroaches at the end of time wearing that particular shirt.

Agreed, I think the shirt is tainted due to the footballing memories of that time!

  2. don't you think thats a bit harsh, not all people who wear stone island clothes are like that, it's the person or people your talking about, not the label of the clothes they wear.

haven't you heard of don't judge a book by it's cover?

as for ian wright i can't stand him, he's like a monkey in the studio swinging around the place and flapping about, one of the worst pundits ever. the bbc need to get him out.

    Oh dear! :lol::lol:

  3. But Eddie he did stop the goal, which left him with no wiggle room to do anything other than show the red.  What he should've done was not blown the whistle, let the goal stand and then send the prat off for a professional foul.

Incase the "he" Eddie is referring to is the prat himself instead of the ref; the fact that he didn't stop the goal doesn't figure into it.  He took a guy down by cupping his hand or grabbing him at the ankle.  Whether that was done on purpose or not; that is a red card if it's seen by an official.  This one was.

Doc, I would stop there, before you make yourself look daft. It's one way or the other, play advantage and BOOK the offender, or blow and red card the offender.

Sepp Blatter has even said the ref was too hasty, he should have allowed the action to continue, therefore giving a fair advantage to Barc ( a goal).

It is deemed a professional foul IF it prevents a gaolscoring opportunity - it didn't, so Lehmann should have stayed on and kept goal for a team trailing by one goal to nil- end of discussion.

    Please people, understand the laws.

  4. What you are failing to understand, is the rule to send off in such instances is there to compensate for the taking away of a genuine goalscoring opportunity.

Last night Barce. scored after the offence, therefore suffered no disadvantage, meaning no need for a red card.

People saying the referee was technically right to send Lehman off are pedants who don't understand the spirit of the game.

  5. It's pitiful that - even on a usually balanced and sensible football discussion forum such as this - the match officials are taking the brunt of negative comment.

Terry Henry joined the party, freely slating the match officials in this showpiece final in his post match interview.  Henry himself - when he watches the video - should replace his bitterness towards officials with self criticism.

Crucial chances were missed - and always will be.  Henry creates so many chances for himself that he is allowed to miss a few.  Those misses are mistakes by Henry.  He has no right to slate the ref at the end of this game - at least the ref was putting some effort in.

With 10 mins to go, with desperate Arsenal attacks being reliant on long balls, Henry never moved from a central position - never chased, never harried, never cared!!  He was wearing the armband FFS!  Leave the refs alone and **** off to wherever you want to play.

Lehman's (?sp) sending off was totally deserved, and when you look at the game objectively there is no argument about which team deserves to be Champions of Europe.

The lunatic goalie and the wantaway captain have cost Arsenal.  It's almost a shame that Spurs let them in to the Champs League for next season, but on the plus side they will be screwed when the spine of their team isn't there any more.

Wantaway Terry will have gone, Dennis the Menace will have retired, Pires the puff won't perform, Sol the unbalanced will shoot his last bolt at the WC .... Loony Lehman is probably already in rehab ....

I'd rather be supporting Rovers, to be sure ......

Tris, it would appear your PC is being used by a Spuds supporting colleague.

This game WAS a prime example of football spoiled by referees. The Norwegian's performance was inept at best. Yes he got decisions wrong for both sides, but the balance was massively against the Arse.

I would like to bet, that with so many risible decisions, we won't see this buffoon reffing such a prestige showpiece in the near future.

What was that?... he's officiating in the world cup?... has anyone seen me coat?

  6. He displayed just how well he's done that by throwing the armband on the floor and having a hissy fit when he was substituted.

    401685

    No no Manc.

He's displayed it by being our player of the season two years running, and by putting in some sterling performances this season, icluding the world class display against Henry and his Arse.

  7. As for the burn out -sorry TDI but just codswallup this is just a poor excuse for inexcusable performances -  the players primarily concerned with the poor inept displays have not played a near full season anyway.

    400933

Sorry Stu, but you're wrong. As a team we are looking lethargic, that could not be labelled against us in the first half of the season, irrespective of the line up!

  8. No, I don't watch games. Played well against Liverpool and well second half against Brum. I'll ask again - where's the evidence that teams are out running us?

    400926

No one said teams were outrunning us!

We have relied on the high energy, phyisical game for much of this season. Our performances are clearly below the standard we set ourselves. This- in my opinion- is down to exhaustion.

Believe it or not, it's a scientific fact that the body can suffer burn out if it is pushed to it's limits week in, week out!

Physically, and mentally we look tired. The enforced break could not have come at a better time (well two weeks ago would have been better, but you know what I mean).
