What a terrible excuse! My defence of Andy Todd then is , he was the only defender with the positional sense to spot the danger.

Why is no one screaming to have Nelsen dropped? It could quite easily be argued he was at fault for the first goal (he cost us big time ).

i htink anyone who has kept goal at a reasonable standard will recognise that: the position from which lampard took his free kick (and pederson took his at utd) is one, where 9 times out of ten a head will be put on the ball once delivered into the area. the keeper cannot afford to assume the ball will continue its flight. any keeper in the world would have done what freidel did ie maintain his position in the centre of goal. having said that, i would agree that freidel is not as good as three seasons ago, when he was brilliant.

i also think that we are currently still comparing goalkeepers with the vast amounts of top keepers from the 80s. i feel the ony difference is that the balls are now less predictable in their flight leading to keepers' indecision.
