  1. I think the Axe is fishing for a return! He loves Sam!
  2. I vaguely remember him, his name also reminded me of the other two Scottish youngsters we had at a time, David McNamee and Burton O'Brien (Who was S.African I think). McNamee I knew was in the championship, couldn't remember who with but turns out to be Plymouth. Anyway funny one about Burton O'Brien, looked him up and check out his wikiedia page, a Falkirk fan certainly wasn't impressed!
  3. Not a big reader myself so no idea what the novel is like, could well be one of those films which don't do the novel justice as often claimed but all I can say is I think it's a very good film, watched it for the 4th time yesterday and would rank it as probably my favourite film of the year so far. I don't know what it is with prison films, I think I just like to see films which show lifestyles that the majority of us are never going to experience ourselves and can't even really begin to imagine. I'm sure some of them are far fetched at times and I don't have a lot of sympathy for criminals but I'm sure there are plenty of times when people have been in for petty crimes but then got mixed up with the wrong crowd or simply were in the wrong place at the wrong time and have ended up deep in prison life on a long term sentance in a nasty prison, just makes me think sometimes, Wow that could actually happen almost just through bad luck and poor choices and how lucky we are to have what we have, however little that may seem at times. Some of my favourite prison films are 'Shawshank Redemption' which goes without saying really, 'The Escapist' featuring Jonny Lee Miller and 'Felon' featuring Val Kilmer and Stephen Dorff, 'The Hurricane' featuring Denzil Washington are three great examples of Good Guy Gone Bad prison films. 'The Green Mile', 'American History X', 'Redemption' , 'Papillion' are also some great prison movies. American History X is one of my favorites of all time, more of the bad guy come good in that one though.
  4. Anyone else seen Shutter Island yet? Thought that was brilliant, don't want to go into too much detail without ruining it for others but certainly has you guessing most of the way through just to how it's all going to link together, it's fairly obvious that everything isn't quite as it seems but it's hard to piece everything together. Definitely recommended, it's not just a good film in terms of storyline but also a great piece of film in general, Scorsese really is one of, if not the best. Watched it three times now, so many little bits I've picked up on now and noticed that I didn't see the first time. I watched this recently and is definitely worth checking out, I'm very into prison films and documentaries etc in general so was quite looking forward to it. A very good film but something seemed to be missing for me, couldn't quite put my finger on it, perhaps it was just because of the language and subtitles. Enjoyed it but not sure if I could sit through it again, seemed to drag a little towards the end I thought and never quite got to where I hoped it would go. I think I was hoping for more violence!
  5. Imagine having some crap old game like that and finding out what it's worth now, must be quite a pleasant surprise I would have thought. Wonder how much my old copy of Striker 95 is worth? 50p?
  6. An oldie but a goodie, a friend of mine revealed she'd never seen Silence of The Lambs, this led to watching it last night and reminded me of just how good it is, especially given the fact that it doesn't have to rely on any special effects or major gore for the shock effect. Just a tremendous performance from Hopkins and a great bit of chemistry between him and Foster. If there's anyone else who for some reason hasn't seen it, despite it being nearly 20 years old now then I suggest you pick up a copy.
  7. I don't want anyone here that isn't 100% committed to the club, certainly to with the way he's behaved lately anyway. I hope he's been fined his last week's wages for missing training. It's sad that it looks like he's going to leave under such poor circumstances because in my opinion it undoes a lot of the good work he did in the past. Undone perhaps isn't quite the right word but I certainly won't look upon him as fondly in the future if he'd simply kept his head down, played some football and moved on when the situation suited all three parties. Bye Benni, thanks for the memories, just a shame on what my parting memory will be, now go and buy an expensive pie.
  8. Great stuff from him today, we give Dunny a little more leeway for his fitness problems so maybe Benni should get a little benefit of the doubt. I said before that Sam should stop this nonsense of half punishing him for not meeting fitness targets because it's only punishing the rest of the team. He either needs to play him and swallow his pride or show some proper discipline and move him on and declare him not available for selection in the meantime. (Not what I would do but sitting in the middle helps nobody) The best example I can think of for a player that was lazy without the ball and struggled for match sharpness was Le Tiss and he wasn't such a bad player was he, ask Tim Flowers.
  9. I can't see us getting much more than a few million now for Benni, if that can be used to really strengthen the frontline then perhaps we should but anyone in that price range is going to be a massive gamble surely. It's unlikely we'll get someone better than Benni for that price. So with that in mind and the World Cup coming up where Benni knows he needs to be on his best form to get selected it could see him pull his finger out and become a regular goalscorer again if given the chance. I agree with dazmaz above, Dunn who we all know is always prone to injuries, if he misses out then suddenly were looking a bit thin on the goal front. So in closing, for me any deal involving Benni going has to depend upon us bringing someone better in to replace him which I just can't see happening at that kind of price. When we had all summer and 7m odd to spend on a striker we struggled enough.
  10. It's just a shame that with our financial situation being pretty tight that we have to sell to buy. At the end of the day if Benni isn't in Sam's first team plans then he needs to go both to give us some spending money and to help his own chances of the World Cup. I'm still a big fan of Benni but he's almost a cache 22 situation. Seems like he can't get in the team so doesn't seem to bothered about giving his all and then on the other hand he can't be bothered so he doesn't get in the team. Still a fantastic player on the ball but just doesn't seem to be Big Sam's cup of tea and at the end of the day he's the manager. In a 4-4-2 I'm sure he'd get plenty of more games but Dunny has almost forced the formation with his own decent displays. Still with the jury out on Kalinic and Di Santo probably going back to Chelsea we could well regret letting him go if we indeed do. Overall I think it depends on price for me, if him leaving means we can strengthen the team then so be it but if we let him go for a couple of million just to be eaten away by wages or to be spent on fringe players then I feel we are better off keeping him as part of the squad knowing that he can do a job for us if he gets stuck in. If he does end up staying at Rovers then surely with the WC coming up he'll know he needs to give 100% all the time and could get us some important goals, even if he's not going to be a first team regular. Up to Sam I guess, my heart says keep him but my head says perhaps it's time for him to move on to help us and himself.
  11. Fantastic Megan Fox wins for me every time.
  12. It's better than the last few but they'll never top the original as it was such a unique idea at the time. (Well at least that's how it seemed, I'm sure there are similiar torture game type films from years ago) Worth a watch and it's enjoyable but nothing to make you go Wow in my opinion. Agreed with the others who are talking about 'Taken', very good film. Watched 'The Invention of Lying' the other day with Ricky Gervais, funny in places and again I liked it but expected better to be honest, thought it was a great idea for a film but just felt like something was missing.
  13. Anyone else seen 'Felon', very good prison based film, would reccommend it to anyone who is a fan of prison films or just violent drama's in general. Got around to watching 'Eastern Promises' as well, another good film.
  14. Well I've been through a bit of a movie marathon lately, some older, some new, here's what I thought of them. Zack and Miri Make a Porno - Actually pretty good if you look past all the dick jokes etc, actually has a decent storyline for a comedy and is pretty original again for a modern comedy. Expected it to be terrible which probably helped. 6/10 Never Back Down - Again expected it to be crap, it's actually not bad. It will probably remind you of Fast and The Furious only replace the cars with fighting. Still it's not bad though and it's done in a way that it doesn't go completley over the top. I'm not sue if you'd be too in to it though unless you're interested in MMA. 6/10 Death Sentence - Wow this film is fantastic, to pick holes in at least. Anything with Kevin Bacon in is usually good and this is borderline okay, largely because it's a fairly cool revenge film, just with a lot of plot holes which you'll enjoy taking the ###### out of later. 4/10 Iron Man - Just hadn't got around to seeing it yet, for anyone else in that position, go and see it, it's almost good as any of the comic book films, perhaps only second to TDK. 8/10 Transformers- Again just a fim I hadn't got around to seeing, really enjoyed it, a lot better than I expected, some decent acting in it and the fight scenes are pretty awesome. Plus it has Megan Fox being hot in it. 6/10 The Hangover - This film is hilarious, anyone who's been drunk out of their mind before and woken up with a raging hangover not being able to remember half of the night can relate to this one. It really is as good as people have made out. Probably the best comedy film I've seen, period. 8/10 Hitman - Not bad at all, nothing amazing but some decent action scenes and a decent storyline, I've played the games a bit, not sure how closely they followed it in the film if that bothers anyone. Worth a watch if you want to see a decent action film without having to think about what's going on. An easy watching film. 6/10 Terminator Salvation - I'm a little undecided about this one, I enjoyed it and I think anyone who likes Terminator will enjoy it but I am getting a little confused just what in the hell is going on at times when I try and work out all the time travelling over the various movies and what they've stopped/created/killed/haven't killed etc. Worth a watch though, hopeing they can step it up for the next installment. 6/10 The Last House on The Left - Talking about the modern version, loved it, a sick brutal horror film, none of those scary monsters or vampires as it's not a supernatural horror, just a plain brutal gory gruesome horror. Fans of horror and thriller films could well enjoy this one, if you don't like lots of gore and violence or awkward scenes then this might not be for you. 7/10 Watched plenty more but that's the ones I can think of off hand, don't really remember the really terrible ones.
  15. I don't know but I'll guess at yes since he gets injured doing most things
  16. Not sure if these have been posted before but here are a few Rovers clips on football am Crossbar Challenge - Must be fairly recent as Diouf is on it, so is Roque - who's effort is shocking!! Some of the names the lad use are amusing. Skills Challenge - Reece Hands vs Cameron Lindsay, A couple of our youngsters, Lindsay aint bad for someone that I think is a defender, New Zealander, maybe the next Nelsen!!
  17. Very sad news, he was a legend in the game, best wishes to his family. RIP Bobby
  18. It does sound down to earth, it's an honest assesment of last season and what we are looking to do this year, and also indicates that he's perhaps now more willing to accept that he will be on the bench for a good 3rd or more of the season. I'm not always sure that he's been willing to accept it in the past, hopefully now if he understands and accepts his role a bit more we can see the best of him again. Also a nice way of admitting Roberts can't finish and he can't run haha.
  19. Prototype looks fantastic, especially excited about that, Infamous looks good too. Are there any out currently you would reccommend in the meantime?
  20. What sandbox games would you reccommend that are available on the PS3? Only really played GTA.
