    That’s how I’m reading it.

Thing is, now that Mowbray has said it, you’ll get many fans now agreeing with him and trying to convince you that our L1 side (minus loanees remember) will be good enough.

We need a far better option than Downing. A better option than Evans. A better option than Samuel. And two wingers. Minimum.

I would agree with that summary with the addition of Armstrong returning and a replacement right back.

The why does it matter comment was solely aimed at the squabbling over what position Travis plays, as opposed to whether or not we need to bring in a new RB.

I think it's a bit premature to say that Mowbray doesn't trust Travis to play RB. I think it's more indicative of the trust he has in Nyambe at RB, that he hasn't tried to blood Travis into the role when he was missing.

Personally I'm not a big fan of Nyambe, so I would look to bring in a new RB in the summer. Although I do appreciate his strengths and that he is highly rated by some, he has no final ball when he gets forward.

Unfortunately his "final ball" is normally a pass back to the centre half thus negating any chance of a quick breakaway.

Nyambe is first choice in a back four and if he goes with wing backs then it will be Bennett. Either can deputise for the other in a change in formation. If both were injured or suspended then Travis is more than capable. The budget we have doesn't need to be touched to find a right back.

Nyambe is not good enough and Bennett is better in midfield. Travis is untried. We need a good right back before anything else. Nyambe was targeted all last season and now is moving up a division. He has improved but not enough.

I believe Mellor is a right back in which case he should replace Nyambe who I don't believe is good enough. He struggled in div 1 so I believe that he would be targeted every match in the Championship. Robertson is probably back up unless Tony is trying 3 at the back again. I personally don't like that as you finish up with 5 players who are basically defenders.

I don’t think money will be our concern with Dack, it’s the bright lights of Essex calling him that is more likely to be troublesome.

Hope not for ours and his sake as you could see that side of his life derailing his career if he isn’t careful.

Plenty of bright lights in Manchester too.

Hey Chaddy, when Shearer left Rovers in 1996 my kids cried and I also shed a tear so enough of that cr@p.

Sadly, too many are in football to make a fast buck and I see this happening over Dack.  IMV, his head will be turned, there will be interested clubs (but not at nonsensical fees speculated of £8million upwards) and as such, it would be no surprise to me to see Dack leave in a deal with add ons in the £3 to £4million range.  I think it's 80% certain Dack will leave (think he'll become unsettled)  and if and when he does, I will elaborate further.

That makes me feel much better. With Mercer's forecasting skills in mind it is therefore 80% certain that Dack will stay.

I notice he has a number 10 on his shorts. I wonder if that is any indication of his style as a midfielder?

As ever, most other clubs have had theirs out for weeks, if not months - even if they are unsure of what league they’ll be in next season.

Cynic in me says they are holding off because they have two substantially different prices up their sleeves - i.e a price hike on promotion.

If they spend money on players and wages I don't mind.

  9. I'm not complaining for myself. I walked into a far more lucrative job at a much more modern start up company in Manchester. The people who suffered were the superb engineers on the shop floor. Bye the way we had just ordered a state of the art CNC machine when Thatcher struck.

  10. It did a lot of work on government contracts and at the time that Margaret Thatcher (bitch) was in power she closed all the mines and then took all the government work off Clayton Goodfellow and transferred it to the North East. We were left with no contract work to do and had no alternative than to bring in the receivers who were unable to save the company.

One of the main problems with Blackburn I feel is the closure of much of its heavy Engineering/Manufacturing,this for me has led to a massive atrophy of our local economy.

    Yates and Thom

    Philips

    Royal Ordnance

    Cherry Tree Machine

    Star Paper

    Netlon

East Lancashire Coachbuilders.....and so many more.

Established, large employers of skilled men and women...never replaced.I have to travel outside Blackburn now for skilled employment,I do wonder sometimes what sort of future the young Kids of this town have, the vast majority probably not University material.

Without question has added to the degeneration of a once Industry-leading Town.

You missed Clayton Goodfellow Ltd where I was a board member who were one of the best along with Foster Yates & Thom Ltd.

2 nil Rovers. Butterworth and Nuttall with goals.

    From.Rovers twitter account

78: First change for #Rovers as Simmonds comes on for fellow trialist Johnson. The winger has looked pretty impressive tonight. [2-0]

Does anybody know anything about Simmonds or Johnson?

Anybody gone tonight? Any chance of a report of the game?

I don't know anything about Simmonds but Johnson is a 20year old on Arsenal's books who has had an injury and is struggling to get back in their under23's. He is on trial at Rovers. There is a full report on him on Rovers Fans if you care to have a look. He's a right back.
