Those of us of a certain vintage will remember ‘World Of Sport’ in the early-mid 80s, and it’s a reboot of that with a bit of WWE flair and glamour. Stu Bennett (AKA Wade Barrett) as commentator and authority figure, the odd appearance by Will Ospreay (when he’s not wrestling in Japan). The storylines and characters are old hat, but the in-ring action is a world away from the days of Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks.

Interesting sub-plot to England/Croatia - following the victory against Russia, defender Vida and coach Vukojevic posted a video on social media stating ‘Glory to Ukraine’ and ‘this victory was for Dynamo and Ukraine’ (Vida is a former Dynamo Kyiv player). It has been seen as an indirect response to the illegal invasion and occupation of Ukraine by Russia and Russian-backed forces.
Vida received a fine while Vukojevic lost his job, and hundreds of thousands of people have given FIFA a 1star rating on facebook in protest. Russia Today’s Facebook feed responded by stating that England will suddenly gain thousands of supporters for the semi-final (despite the political fallout over the Novichok scandal).
England/Croatia could be a fiery match indeed...

Martin ‘Tiny’ Taylor had all the physical attributes to be a top class defender, but lacked something up top. Over 100 appearances for us, and had a fair career after leaving Rovers (if you can call Big club and Watford highlights) but never hit the heights we thought he could.

That Ajax team was the reason they became my foreign team. Won the Champions league the same season we won the Premier League.
Oh, Marlon Broomes. He was with us for ages (I think pre-title to post-relegation) but never got a good run in the team. Obviously he wouldn't have troubled our title-winning players, but he wasn't even given much game time when he was sent out on loan (as per wiki). 253 games in 18 years.
Jimmy Corbett never even got going. Highly regarded when he signed from Gillingham for just over £500,000, he spent much of the next 5 years injured before leaving without a single first team game under his belt. Heard a rumour after his retirement that he was working on the pharmacy counter in a Boots somewhere.

John Curtis was a solid player for us and on the cusp of breaking through for England, but was replaced by Neill and disappeared from view (played for several more clubs, but never fulfilled early promise).

I remember Sergio Peter being touted as the next Duff. Cocked up a penalty in a pre-season friendly(?) and disappeared from view.
Still only 31, he now plays in the German 7th tier (Wiki).

Is it worth splashing out on a raft of cleaning products? I've got some muc-off chain spray and a stiff brush, as well as some chain lube, but as these run out I'm considering investing in a chain cleaner gadget.
Does anyone use these, or are they hipster affectations lacking elbow grease?

I remember hearing a rumour that Kenny signed 2 black players in his whole managerial career. No idea if it’s true without checking, but from memory does seem to be correct. (points if you can name them)
Marlon Broomes might have been kicking around the youth teams at that point.
