“We got an offer that matched our valuation, so we sold him.”

That pretty much sums up Waggotts explanation.

I can’t tell you how much that pissed me off. Ambition? None whatsoever.

Perhaps we could crowdfund an offer for Wagggott.

I reckon a fiver should do it.

@ABBEY and @Upside Down could decide what to do with him once we’ve got him.

I'm still standing by what I've been saying for about 3 weeks I think. We'll scrape up by the skin of our balls, primarily because other teams around us suck, and go down next season.

We might enter the bottom 3 briefly on the final day, but I don't see it very likely we go down. Only need one of three shit teams to fuck up. Two of them need at least a win, too. Those same two have LL and DD results from their previous two games.

Sammie’s balls, the rest don’t have any.

    The question is why.

Nobody else makes this loss to exist in the Championship.

    So why do Rovers???

When we have the answer to that we can't get any further.

I can’t find more up to date figures but in:

2019/2020 championship clubs lost £443m (an average of £18.45m)

    2020/2021 they lost £400m (£16.6m)

Clearly that doesn’t show ‘who lost what’ but it does seem to indicate our losses aren’t out of the ordinary for the division.

Of course we all know our losses could have been much lower if our senior management/owners weren’t so incompetent.

We should just survive but Id love to know how many teams showing our form over the latter half of a season have stayed up the next year. Must be tiny.

(If you extrapolate that last 50% of gaes over a full season its around 37 points.....)

Im very much a glass half full person but it's very hard to not conclude we are done.

In the second half of the season we have 19 points (obviously with one to play)

Last year QPR stayed up despite only getting 16 points from the last 23 games

The year before Reading stayed up having got 20 points

The year before that Bristol City stayed up having got 18 points

I haven’t looked any further back but it would appear to be a surprisingly regular occurrence.

I really hope both of you are right.

I can't remember the situation with Huddersfield last time (if they couldn't go up or down a place) but I remember the usual discussion- is it better to keep playing and have momentum, or rest and save energy.

And Wagner was firmly in the get everyone out of harms way, no injuries camp.Think he was interviewed at the time as it was a bit controversial, spirit of the game and that.

They were fifth and could have finished no lower but as high as third.

Has it been mentioned that it was Wagner that helped relegate us last time....to the benefit of Birmingham. 🙈🙈

Rested his Huddersfield team and played such a bunch of donkeys that 'Arry's team won even after an early sending off.

I do not like the similarities here.

As others have said, will Wagner want to risk finishing 6th and having to face Ipswich/Leeds over two legs?

Comes down to who will have both the bottle and the desire.

I am less optimistic than most of the postings on here post match.

    My thoughts:

    • Brum - they'll kick Norwich off the park to get a result, Brum win
    • Plymouth - who gave them a chance against Leicester?  Hull might have nowt to play for and even if they do, fancy Argyle to get their win
    • Owls - they've shown they have plenty of bottle and desire, can't see then failing to get a point at Sunderland who we hammered  5-1 not too long ago
    • Rovers - Leicester will want to put on a show, think we will be lucky to lose by no more than 3 goals

My huge fear is we hit the bottom three on goal difference for the first time on the last day of the season when it will be all too late to do anything about it.

Sad, depressing and all too worrying times.

    Or to play devil’s advocate…

Brum -  failed to beat Rotherham and Huddersfield, draw at best

Plymouth - 2 wins in their last 10 matches, draw at best

Owls - on a roll, draw at worst

Rovers - who gave us a chance against Southampton or Leeds? draw not impossible

Pears - didn’t chuck one in huzzah. Now clear off

Brittain - taken a real dislike to this fella, not fit to lace Heaton’s or Brannigan’s boots. Eff off.

Carter - the only defender who makes a forward worry what might happen if he traps the ball.

Mcfad - a worthy past it successor to MacNamee, a real captain’s performance.

Hyam - worst captain in our history. Only not a spineless disaster when he has no-one to mark and got his dad beside him to tell him what to do. Get rid.

Pickering - too timid to play wing, too slow to play back. Cheerio.

JRC - I like him as the extra attacking midfielder, not convinced by him being the attacking midfielder. Play him in a 3.

    Tronstadt - Automatic pick

Dolan - when he plays 1/2 touch he can be really effective, once the triple salko’s start he’s Sunday league.

Sammy - start carving the statue

Gally - oh, there’s the statue. Sayanora, finally.

    Worse than Murphy?

A combination of their recent home form being solid, having Rowett in the dugout, and that they know they need to win. They'll treat it as a cup final, their ground will be full and they've done this sort of thing more than one before on the final game of the season.

I think the result of this one hinges on the result of Hull’s match tonight.

If Bolton get through the play-offs I wonder who the 'be careful what you wish for' gang will use as their poster for why we can't hope to be rid of Venkys.

All these other clubs who go bust, reset, get through it and go again, coming back in far better health than Venky Rovers.

One day we'll do the same, we need to, just hope its sooner rather than later.

    They’ll stick with Bury.

I think we are now in Plymouth's hands and hoping they don't beat Hull final day. That's our best chance of survival. Hull a tricky side to beat but Plymouth unpredictable at home.

I think it is a banker that Wednesday finish the job off and get something against a rudderless on the beach Sunderland, after comprehensively dealing with us and WBA.

I think it is highly likely we lose at Leicester, and I'd bet on Birmingham getting past Norwich at home.

Really couldn't have asked for better circumstances today. At home, against a side with nothing to play for, knackered after a big week and playing with 10 men for over 30 minutes. Couldn't manage it.

Birmingham have just failed to beat the only two teams below them.

The potential for a weakened Norwich team aside, why do you think this is likely to happen?
