”I cant believe he’s starting a League 2 standard striker, he’s a lot of explaining to do”

Some of you lot crack me up.

I thought it was great to see a third of the match day squad consisting of academy players. Nuttall's form for the U23s surely deserved a chance and TM is really brave here to give him that chance now leaving the likes of Armstrong, Brereton and Graham on the bench.

I would expect to go back in for some of our summer targets: Chapman, Bauer, and Gallagher.

I'd certainly send Palmer back to Chelsea, terrible player.

I’d be concerned if we went back in for Chapman. He’s had numerous injury setbacks already this season, not sure if he’s currently fit to play at all.

Travis is class, his athleticism alone puts him above Smallwood and Evans but he’s also turning defence into attack

He looks like the real deal to me. That midfield slot should be his to lose now. I'd be livid if he got sent out on loan.

Same old story for the first half... doing everything right so far, but final ball is lacking. Tbf Graham has had 2 good chances that he could have put away. Maybe a game for Palmer, Rothwell or BB to come on and be the hero.

  4. For me, TM has been the best and most likeable manager since Mark Hughes. He’s also assembled the most committed and likeable team we’ve had in years and so I am desperate for them to do well.

Obviously if the results continue to be poor and it looks like we are going backwards we should look to make a change, but I don’t think we are anywhere near that stage yet.

What I can say is that every game we’ve gone into under Mowbray I am excited about and feel we can win, and in terms of our play that has proven to be the case this season. Other than maybe a couple of games where we have been torrid, we have competed well against the best teams in the division. In a lot of cases we have picked up great wins or draws, but as of late we have been on the end of frustrating losses instead.

It has been incredibly frustrating watching games at times this past month, but I don’t yet get the feeling things are beyond repair. Instead this feels like a bad spell that’s come after overachieving early in the season.

What’s clear is that we need a defensive shake up as we now have one of the worst defensive records in the championship. I’m hoping for quality recruitments in that area of the pitch in January.

70 minutes of solid hard work undone in under 15 minutes.

Terrifying thing about Rovers is the speed with which we collapse.

Points to lack of character and strength in the playing staff again.

Boy we need a leader on the pitch.

Agree 100%. Seriously don't understand what people are expecting from Mowbray here. Every capitulation we've had has been from ludicrous individual mistakes. The players have to take some responsibility.

IMO more questions need to be asked of Mulgrew. He is the captain, he is the one that should be organising the defence and rallying the players on the pitch. For all 3 goals he looked like a deer in the headlights, and all 3 goals came down his side of the pitch. His body language after every goal is one of resignation and defeat, it's just not good enough. The captain needs to be firing up his players and spurring them on. It's not the first time this season I've seen this from him. He gets away with far too much because of his free kicks.

Interesting half. I’m really liking Reed and Travis with Smallwood behind them in the middle of the field. Rothwell and Palmer showing why they are peripheral to the team; Rothwell does too much and gives the ball away in bad positions, Palmer offering zero support for Bennett, which Travis keeps covering for. Ben started slowly, much like his sub appearances, but last 20 mins has looked really good when coming short for the ball, which gives us a very different approach play.

Agree on Palmer and Rothwell. They are both really skillful players, but they have some glaring weaknesses playing on the flanks. Rothwell does pretty well tracking back, but takes too many risks that don't come off. Palmer on the hand takes slightly less risks, but doesn't track back as well. The issue is they are best suited to playing in the number 10 position where they can take more risks and not have to perform their defensive duties as much, but obviously TM is not playing them in that position, as that's Dack's spot.

If TM does insist on playing them on the flanks then they will have to make a lot of improvement to be more reliable. Of the 2, I have more faith that Rothwell will get there in the end.

  7. Travis is just a ball of energy, he's got the makings of an excellent box to box midfielder.

Brereton's fluffed chance was pretty horrendous, but tbf he has been doing well coming in deep to get and retain the ball and keep possession since then. Hopefully he keeps growing more into this game and has a few more chances.

So far we are matching Sheffield pretty well and this game looks winnable. All of Sheffield's attacks seem to be coming down the left, so we might need to look to shore up that side of the pitch in the second half.

  8. What a dreadful performance. We never play well at Wigan Away, but this is the worst I’ve seen us play in a while.

Passing has been Conference level, and the whole team look half asleep. They all look so off the pace, even Armstrong looks lethargic and slow today.

Defensively we have been in complete disarray, especially on the left hand side.

Mowbray needs to absolutely blast them at half time and make at least 1 change at half time.

Either Smallwood or Evans off for Rothwell, and maybe Brereton off for Graham or Armstrong. Graham hasn’t done much wrong though, we just need to try something new.

  9. Frustrating first half. We’ve been well on top especially at the start and end of the half, but haven’t been able to make a breakthrough. Two great chances for Graham but he has been unable to make the most of them.

This referee is horrendous. Worst one I’ve seen in a while.

Exactly, terrific game to watch, we might not have the best side in the league, but they are all diehards, think we deserved a win today.

Honestly, after the game I think we do have the best side in the league. Maybe not in terms of ability, but certainly in terms of heart and character. These players and manager give it their all. I don’t feel envious of any side in the world right now.

I welled up a little after the game when the whole side went over to applaud the travelling supporters, and I’m not even from Blackburn. It was just nice to see a group of good human beings and it felt good to be a Rovers supporter in that moment. When you think where we were only a couple of years back, it seems like another world.

I get the moaning about the weird substitutions and selections from TM, as they make little sense to me as well. It does feel at times that we are winning points IN SPITE OF the team selections rather than because of them, but what do I know. At the end of the day, if we keep having days like last night I am not going to be one to complain.

  11. I actually liked the look of him today. First time that I thought he’s done well. Still don’t think he’s a wide man, but he showed some good movement and hold up play today.

Can’t say I’m a big fan of all the time wasting antics though, but can’t really complain considering we still took the 3 points at the end of the day.

I like the look of that side. I am glad Rothwell has finally been given a well-deserved start. I’ve put some money on him to score tonight.

Played some great stuff, some great short passing but noticeably picking our moment to only play it long when something is on. I can honestly say I've never seen a Rovers team work this hard, it makes me really proud to see.

What worries me is of we can keep it up for another 45 mins. They will go direct with Crouch and I think we'll struggle with that, he always seems to score.

Crouch on the bench is a worry. I see them hurting us from set pieces if we give them the opportunity.
