  1. I went to the game today. It was just so good to be back in a stadium watching a football match. Well done to AFC Fylde for managing to get the game on. Positives – · Pike looks a player. Composed on the ball and always looking to get forward. The bright spark for me today. · Barnes and Carter looked decent, strong on the ball and good in possession · Butterworth was impressive for the first 25 minutes of the second half but faded (as the match did in fairness) · Buckley always available, good passing range and looks stronger on the ball than previously. Looks like he has bulked up somewhat. · Both keepers good with their feet and Eastham did a good impression of Kaminski, pushing up to just short of the half way line. · Pickering looks calm and composed with good delivery. He should fit into this team easily. · Clean sheet and a good strike from McBride for the goal, although he doesn’t impose himself enough for me. Negatives – · A few of the youngsters (apart from the ones above) had a great opportunity to show the manager that they are ready to challenge for the first team squad. I would have liked to have seen them show the same attitude and enthusiasm that Tyrhys Dolan did when he burst onto the scene. Sadly, some looked out of their depth with the basics of strength in possesion, passing, controlling and holding the ball up. · There is no doubt that there is a common thread throughout the squad that possession based football is here to stay, as long as this manager is in post, whether you agree with that or not. We just do not have the same quality of players that Norwich and Leeds have to make it happen, in my opinion. · Bradley Johnson didn’t have much impact before he succumbed to another injury. We don’t seem to have such a good record in keeping our players fit. Some of the more established first teamers, Travis, Rothwell, Nyambe were just taking it easy and using the game to get fitness levels up. I can’t see Chapman or Davenport, being looked upon as regular starters. Squad players at best; neither does enough to impact on games. Finally, today was definitely not the day to give the manager pelters. Today was a pre-season game to get fitness levels up but more importantly to show respect to a young man who tragically lost his life at such a young age.
