Doesn’t appear to be an intensive warm up. No doubt saving ourselves for 3pm. ?

I remember watching him skin Bennett (not hard I know) time and time again a couple of years ago, only to see him repeatedly hammer it into the stands. Hopefully he has one of those days tomorrow but he does seem more consistent and less raw these days.
Osaye-Samuel is a doubt for tomorrow so let’s hope he doesn’t make it

Over the last 3 years with TM we have had periods where we have gone on good runs for about 6 matches and then games without a win for 6 matches.
At this time, I just can't see us putting together a good run that takes us nearer to the top 6.
I would love to see Roy Keane watch and analyse half a dozen of our games and give us his opinion on the manager, the tactics and the players.

Look at the players with have out injured
We are playing good attacking football - it will pay dividends eventually
Wait until the new lads settle in
Wait until Dack is back
Can't really judge due to covid
Victims of 'new manager bounce' against Forest
Watford have a £30 million player
Play like that every week and we will win more than we lose
Reading are flying - excellent team
Look at the stats - very even game
Swansea are second in the league and we matched them for the most part.
Anyone got any more excuses to add to the list???
Mowbray out, Venkys out.- they've both had long enough at our club.
5 hour trip down the motorway to South Wales.
Good job he isnt the manager at Carlisle - 702 mile round trip to Exeter yesterday.
His constant excuses and negative behaviour is having a detrimental effect on the club, the players and it's fanbase.

This poor run we are on does not help youngsters like Dolan, Elliott and JRC. As each game passes you can see their confidence slowly ebbing away.

I only remember the " Last Sports " and that was white. The " Manchester Evening News " did a sports edition, that was pink.
Used to be so excited to nip down to Rawtenstall town centre with my Dad to pick up the Last Sports with late scores and scorers printed in a side column.

Ayew is a cert to score with the gapping holes in our defence.
Always looks a cut above championship when I’ve seen him.

Brilliant footage. Thanks Herbie.
I think Gally needs to watch and learn from Talbot at about 40 secs in how to control a football.

I was at that game with my Dad. It was in October 1968, I was 13 years old. We used to go to all the Blackpool away games which always seemed to be night matches and had our tea at my two Aunties who lived on Westmorland Ave, near to Bloomfield Road. There was trouble during the game and after. Several people were taken to hospital after the Ammonia incident. I think we may have won 1-0, Malcolm Darling scoring. We were just a player or two short of getting back to Division One. Dick Mulvaney as an emergency centre-forward
They had a decent team, Jimmy Armfield, Alan Suddick, Tommy Hutchinson and Tony Green (a tremendous player who I played against in 5 a side when he had retired with knee injuries; I couldn't get anywhere near him)
Around this time every programme included an insert magazine called Football League Review. The one inside this prograame featured a centre fold of Plymouth Argyle. Connections to the Rovers are Bobby Saxton, ex-manager and Frank Lord, who was a journeyman centre-forward we signed who proved to be a flopp, overweight and immobile. However he went on to become a coach in South Africa. Also Billy Bingham was probably the most successful manager of Northern Ireland and took them to 2 World Cups in 1982 and 1986.

My dad was at Blackpool that night, the ammonia wasn’t slung at the Blackpool fans he said, but it was let off in the ground and made national headlines, think we got banned from travelling away.
Birdie 2, who is no longer with us, was blamed, but he was blamed for most agro at the time, so who knows.

Hope I’m well off the mark but as JRC went over to the bench he was holding his hamstring ?

Brereton has no idea how to close a player down. Gives Bell no help at all

It was a night match in October 1968. I was at that match aged 13 with my Dad. We won 1-0, cant remember who scored. Will look through my old programmes tomorrow to check.

Would love to go back and watch this game which in effect was my first watching the Rovers, aged 9. I think I also went to a few games in 1962 and 1963 but remember little about them other than being lifted over the turnstile which was a common thing in those days and then Dads usually gave the turnstile attendant a small tip. My Dad took this cutting from the Sunday Mirror on 27th September 1964 and I’ve kept it ever since. The match was obviously the day before. (I also have the scores and tables from that paper which I may post after if interested).
Trying to work out the team from that day with reference to the press report – Tyrone, Jim Mk2 and AllRoverAsia may be able to help. Something like:-
Jones, Newton, Joyce, Clayton, England, McGrath, Ferguson, McEvoy, Byrom, Douglas, Harrison.
I think Pickering may have been sold that season to Everton.
Hope Oldgregg may get some idea of how good Douglas and Clayton were from this cutting.
After this game, the Rovers became a massive part of me and my family’s life’s. Enjoyed every decade through the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s when we struggled. Then Uncle Jacks 90’s and 2000’s glorious period, when we were a proper run club. How sad to see where we are today.
First away game, Elland Road think it was over Christmas period 64 or 65, drew 1-1. Think Douglas scored the goal that day. Never felt as intimidated in my life. Such a hostile atmosphere for a 9/10 year old.
My Dad had a season ticket from after the war until he was in his 80’s. Passed away 4 years ago.
His favourite Rovers player was Douglas. Best he had ever seen was Shearer. Best other player he had ever seen was Finney.

So true.
Think BB and SG make the much maligned John O'Mara (going back to the early 1970's) look like another Shearer! At least 'BIg John' averaged a goal every three games for Rovers if my memory is correct.
I think that would be a dream front 3:
Gallagher O'Mara Brereton
Plenty of laughs at least ?

Absolutely. This is my sense as well. He took a similar tone several months ago about the time of the home fixture against Barnsley.
I think he knows he is losing the fans now because there is so little belief in any method or pattern of play.
After 3 years there are still too many no-shows with square pegs in round holes/polished turds( choose your own description!)
Any notion of a long term, slow build project is hardly supported by the number of replacements that are required this summer and in so many key positions.
Despite loyal fans' fervent hopes and willingness to herald any flashes of improvement in Brereton and Gallagher, they are both down there with O'Mara, Chris Brown and our whole back catalogue of shit strikers.
If this were a normal club, we would agree It needs a catalyst and a new broom (Gordon Lee/Souness/Mackay)....but you know the rest....
You are right LV, John O'Mara was a poor centre-forward. Yet, he scored 10 goals in 35 appearances for us.
I can't ever see either Brereton and Gallagher scoring 10 between them in a season as things stand.

What annoyed me last night was that their manager was on the touchline for 90 minutes organising, cajoling and instructing his players.
Ours was sat on the advertising boards with clipboard in hand as though it was a Lads v Dads end of season jolly.

Who's your favourite Rovers captain? Personally mine is Garry Flitcroft. A leader, a fine and underrated footballer and got stuck in too. Also came back from a nightmare debut, sent off after 3 mins against Everton.
Totally agree. Very underrated and never flinched a tackle.

Thanks Herbie for your uploads - always look forward to watching these.
Do we play with the same energy and intensity today as this team did?
I know that those players were better quality overall but we seem to have players today coasting.
Yesterday only the keeper, Rothwell, Brereton 2nd half and a couple of others seemed to be really up for it. 6 or 7 appear to be just going through the motions.
