  1. Kicking the ball out of play as an act of “sportsmanship” is one of the biggest problems in football. Totally ridiculous, because in 99% of cases there is nothing wrong with the injured player. The decision to stop play should be with the ref alone. If teams played on, it would cut out the nonsense in no time and time wasting feigning of injuries would be cut out immediately, especially if a goal followed.

Is Buckley ready for some more first team action do you reckon?

Definitely, looks more like a footballer than most of the other members of the team. If Mowbray is looking for players who can keep possession, then he’s the best placed young player we have......in my view anyway.

It turns out Bolton’s game at weekend only went ahead because the EFL advanced the cash to pay the staff, how is this allowed to happen?

Probably because various agents have too much influence over the football authorities, and the people who want to be club owners.

There was an undercurrent today I felt as scores of Rovers fans, through drink or other substances were belligerent towards any authority, showed complete disregard for others and were generally obnoxious. I very rarely go onto a concourse but my friend went down at half-time and said there was beer being thrown and some were fighting. When we scored early in the second half lots of them came through the tunnel from the concourse and began pushing people who were in their seats in some kind of pseudo celebration. They then stood and blocked exits and gang ways and became aggressive with stewards when they were asked to go to their seats. And the age profile of these ranged from teenagers to blokes in their fifties. I saw parents move to other areas with their kids in fear.

I'm no prude but there is a real selfishness about some of these who don't even realise they are spoiling other people's enjoyment.

Absolutely accurate assessment of the situation. A lot of so called fans more interested in getting drunk and/or high than watching the game. Even in the stand there were “off their head” idiots abusing other fans. It’s a good job we didn’t lose or there could have been some serious inter-fan aggro, and I don’t mean between Rovers and Brum fans.

  5. One of the main problems in Feb has been the drop in form of Reed. He does so much covering across the back four but has not been as effective in the last three games. A dominant keeper who can organise the back four also needed, Raya nowhere near the finished article and has no real competition.

  6. In some ways we are lucky that the Venkys didn’t walk away and leave the club in administration. As it is, they are still putting millions into BRFC to keep us going. Surely that alone should mean they are extended some degree of courtesy when a family member visits the club. Personal insults will never get us anywhere in the long road to a better relationship going forward, and no, I’m not an apologist for the Rao family.

Think some need to bear in mind we are playing QPR and not Barcelona or Manchester City.

For crying out loud, they have just one point more than us and we have home advantage.  Why should the supporters not feel confident with Graham leading our attack and £9million worth of striking talent in reserve!?

Your posts are always witty and to the point, Mercer, even though plenty of folk take umbrage at them. I don’t think folk get where you are coming from at times. The first two sentences of your latest offering are factually correct, is the last part of sentence three, while also correct, meant to be sarcastic?

  8. One thing that will happen on Saturday is cheering every time Richie Smallwood gets near the ball. His status has been under question this season, but his effort in goal at West Brom has given him a lot of positive sentiment, and rightly so. I just hope that Reed is played in centre midfield with him.
