  1. Really concerned by the top order this ashes. Starc, Cummings and Hazelwood even Parkinson could have a field day.

Burns worryingly has been probably about the best English opener in the county championship for years (arguably not fit for purpose as a competition). Roy still very green at this format at this level. Denly won’t do much. Bairstow will no doubt charge down 90mph balls and be bowled through the gate.

Think it comes down to smith/warner vs root/middle order. Can’t see anyone else scoring any runs up top.

  2. No Wood, Malan, Deidre or leach. Wood must be injured no way olly stone gets in ahead of him. Denly over Malan and burns over Vince think that’s a mistake. In an all 4 are still appalling kind of way. No problem with only one spinner but they’re picking Ali on reputation hoping he comes good.

England often have these innings in them. Hopefully get it out of the way before the Ashes......

Hope so. I don’t think messrs stark Cummings and hazelwood will be too concerned watching this. Different players in front of a red ball.

  4. Certainly haven't bought their picnic at £130 when the ticket is £20. I’ll also abide by their dress code on one of the hottest days of the year in a city that smells like sewage at the best of times but we’ll be very much making our northern presence felt. Pretentious barrow boys.

  5. Always hated Lords (Lancs in the 90s aside). Seen as though, in my opinion, by and large they're not cricket fans rather the spill over from Henley Regatta or Wimbledon. Not so much whether England win but how far you can get your champagne cork on to the outfield. Having watched England on 5 continents and unfortunately with Lords being the home of cricket thought would watch England there. Even vs the Irish. 2 things have pissed me off already:

I think my unreserved seat in the top tier of stand C, brilliant view, £10. Best non-Roses crowd for a 20/20. Real ale on (£5/pint), good selection of foods. Altogether a really pleasant experience. And loads of kids there. Waggott, take note!

    Good to hear it.

Usually lancs buckle under the weight of any sort of crowd. Particularly in the side of the ground you were in. Massive beer queues are usually a minimum. But its ridiculous things like not opening all the turnstiles at the end. Unless you’re exiting on to great stone rd they funnel pretty much that whole half of the ground through one turnstile on to Brian statham way through the narrow concourse behind family stand.

I really think lancs and Rovers are very similar need to learn lessons from experiences everyone else thinks are mere goes without saying things.

Excellent day at OT today. Demolished Durham, and a healthy 13,700 on. The England factor lives on!

That’s a very good crowd on for a non roses game. Kids for a quid deal exactly as it should be. Rather than have 10,000 empty seats get the next generation involved.

Hope the ECB are taking note of those numbers and this 100 thing tanks.

  8. Must admit I’m in the camp of if Evans services are required for more than league cup games we’re in bother. Travis is by far the better option. Defence is still terrible on another day could have been put to the sword. Rothwell very good. Smallwood still only passes backwards. Keeper rubbish. Johnson/Downing hardly set the world alight. In conclusion, I’m still worried. Also concerned that Davenport and Chapman aren’t in a position to play again.

Need a centre half, keeper and probably a left back at some point. I believe that young centre half from city and keeper Christopher Walton from Brighton coming so will see...

Ps. Kit looks grim as well.

  9. Root choked on the big stage no doubt about it. He wasn’t alone either. Due to some unbelievable luck and gritty middle order batting we somehow got home.

The cricket gods must have really wanted England to win as never seen such fortune. Roy could have easily gone first ball, must have been 5-6 inside edges that missed the stumps, Boult seemingly forgot where he was and stepped on to the rope for 6, the ricochet of stokes’ bat for 4 extra runs.

Still can’t believe the end to that game really. Even the very last over-wide (although I thought was on the line), 2 runs, 6, Roy miss field 2 runs, 2 runs threw to wrong end, 1 run, then 1 run with a tremendous underrated throw from Roy (to pick that up at speed having fumbled it 3 balls earlier then to throw bail high right side of buttler was literally match winning)

We don’t win much as a nation moments like this are to be cherished

  10. Now we’ve won and it’s not making excuses once again Lords produces a pitch that favours the opposition. A cricket tradition in itself. If English cricket ever becomes a pure results business Lords should be taken off the circuit.
