  1. To those who have a more thorough knowledge of boxing does this Joseph Parker have a chance vs Joshua? If that's indeed who he's fighting next as I've lost track since that lummox pulled out v Klitschko and everything's up for grabs.

He looked devastating vs Alex Dimitrenko (who I've admittedly never heard of). Undefeated. But has he only fought numpties?

Plus what's happened to David haye? He made a return from a long injury fought 2 bums on some strange channel like Dave then he said he'd fight that Shannon "lets go champ" Briggs but I've heard nothing of him or that fight since. I really rate him as a boxer and he can't have many yrs left so I don't know why he's not after a better fighter and ultimately a klitschko, Joshua, wilder type.

  2. So Ryder cup tee off today at 1.35. I would personally consider football (less so these days) and cricket as better than golf but I rank the Ryder cup as probably my favourite sporting event. And for all I wouldn't tune in to a random Scandinavian tour I wouldn't miss this. In fact was due to go Bham not any more.

Just to spice things up Danny Willett's brother called "US golf fans fat stupid classless @#/?s. Who are a baying mob of imbeciles, angry unwashed, etc etc." The Americans are naturally livid at this but the irony is to prove Danny Willett's brother wrong I'm sure they will act like fat stupid classless baying mob of imbeciles.

  3. I think Lancs have problems all over. I don't think just 2 batsmen will cut it I reckon they need 7-8 better players particularly if Hammed either excels for England and rarely plays for Lancs again or gets ruined by England like Kerrigan or schofield.

I've been largely unimpressed by Giles who for all managed us to get the t20 monkey off our back last year in my opinion in his 2nd full season has taken us backwards this year in one dayers finishing bottom of 50 overs and other than win in the last t20 dead rubber game would have worse in t20. Then the capitulation in county championship was nothing short of a disgrace.

The board also need to take a look at themselves with no significant player investment since probably Buttler and there was little before him. They need to decide whether they want old Trafford to be a cricket venue or a top notch north west conference centre come concert venue. I'm staring to think this season if likes of beyonce and Rihanna I think it was wanted to sing when Lancs were due to play we'd have been farmed off to an out-ground.

I don't know between rovers and Lancs not a lot of sporting enjoyment currently.

    Rant over.

  4. Unlucky Yorkshire 😂😂😂

Great advert for game. My mate managed to get a double at some stage on Middlesex to win and also to win championship at something crazy like 30-1, ridiculous given that it was the same thing!!!

As for Lancs though a rather pathetic season all round. This game Lancs should hang their heads in shame. Fighting to avoid relegation and surrendered without resistance. Top after about 6 games ish and 0 wins for rest of the season.

  5. Out of interest how much does anyone know how much the venkys stand to earn out of this? Will they demand a % from ticket sales or do they charge a flat fee for use of their venue so to speak. Don't know how these things tend to work.

Not really my cup of tea anyway but I might have been tempted aside from the fact I won't put one penny into the venkys pocket whether it's rovers, Elton John, whoever.

  6. A new eight team city-based t20 comp to run alongside t20 blast. Blackburn rovers has already been ruined beyond repair now the powers that be have started on my 2nd love Lancashire. I'm all for Lancashire v Yorkshire etc but manchester vs Leeds nah not for me.

  7. Brilliant test match. Welcome distraction from the car crash that is rovers.

A tremendous win to say in the 1st innings Pakistan were 40 behind with 8 wickets left at which point I thought they'd get a 200+ lead minimum. Then from getting a wicket with last ball of that day had them on the ropes. To take them from 124/3 to 151/9 was brutal.

On tms other day they were also making a big thing of only 3.75% of teams giving a up 100+ lead have gone on to win. Guess gone against the odds.

  8. Heard rumours Lancs are signing borthwick from Durham. Although nothing on the website. If so he's a decent county player.

Perhaps with a disappointing season in one day stuff the penny has dropped with Lancs that there's a lot of deadwood, albeit locals, and that they need to start bringing players in. Especially in light of Reece, Griffiths and Edwards also being released earlier in the week.

If true must spell the end for one or two of Kerrigan, parry or lilley with matt Parkinson as the young up and coming spinner. Don't need 5 spinners surely. I'd also look to offload two or three of brown, Procter, Bailey, Buck.

It could be exciting times with load of new faces at Lancs, just a Venky esq model of offloading without buying or all come to nothing. I hope for the 1st scenario.

  9. I don't particularly like ward either. Not sure why.

Bit harsh on bumbles cricketing credentials though scored a double hundred in a test for england with a healthy career average. Plus played over 400 times for Lancs and managed both Lancashire and England. Also he umpired in the game. So bumble to ward is like ward to a local league player. But as a player I do agree he's perhaps not at the calibre of most of his co-commentators.

  10. Yesterday was pretty grim for Lancs so hopefully today's happier hunting. But 34-2 off 10 overs of power play isn't great.

This season has been a disaster for Lancs bottom of 50 overs, 2nd bottom of t20, 4th in county championship but heading backwards at the rate of knots.

1st team record this season in all formats:

    Played: 28

    Won: 8

    Tied/No Result: 6

    Lost: 13

    Win rate: 29%

And we've won 3 out of our last 9 games.

  11. I have a lot of time for froome. He seems to be the only rider to have to beat the course, the other cyclists and the French spectators. Only really dip in and out of Tour de France and what I know about other cycling events could write on the back of a stamp but froome has urine thrown at him, has to push overzealous fans out of the way, running the end of one section after motorbike ran into his bike or something.

Funny how we're in the middle of golden age for cycling having had Chris boardman and no one else for decades. Adam Yates who won white jersey from Lancashire. Also cavendish did have green jersey until left to train for Olympics and hes only a few wins of most overall stage wins or something.

  12. I think it was reasonably foreseeable the Manchester weather may have a say in this game and a lead of 391 seemed plenty. Still think we'll win but it's an unnecessary risk bringing the draw back into play by wasting overs adding to a total Pakistan are unlikely to reach anyway. But what's done is done.

Decent stat heard England haven't lost at old Trafford in 15 years. Winning 7 drawing 2. Last defeat vs Pakistan in 2001. Not that many games to be fair but seems like we lose at Lords every year.

  13. How annoying. It would seem after over a decade of being largely clueless in the t20 yarkshire have learnt how to play that format as well. Oh well. On the basis Derbyshire and Durham play each other looks as though Lancs are out barring a draw in that game and a world record breaking total which may not even be enough. Bitterly disappointing season.

  14. Looks like the Southport crowd have had a fabulous championship match to watch. Could go either way and Durham have to chase down 250ish on the last day. I noticed Lancs used their sub to bat at eleven. Does this mean Jimmy won't be bowling tomorrow?

Jimmy was only made available for first two days, presumably to test fitness ahead of Friday. Which is a massive blow. Buck comes in instead I believe. Stokes of course plays whole game for Durham.

Durham will be big favourites but you never know as it's starting to spin and we have 2 spinners in there. Durham are a very useful team. Explosion offered by stoneman and stokes, good batting in borthwick and grittiness by collingwood who is still class. There all all-rounders too so gives plenty of options.

  15. Yeah after last seasons t20 win expected big things. But the reality is bottom of t20 group, 2nd bottom of 50 overs group, lose vs Durham today (well by Tuesday) and think down to 5th in county championship. Even if end up going from 1st not so long ago to 5th the county championship that has still exceeded my expectations but the one day stuff has been pretty pathetic. Has a similar feeling of 2012 where after winning county championship it was an unmitigated disaster pretty much ever since in that format.

Hard to pin point why but the local core of Luke procter (28), Karl brown (28), Tom smith (30), croft (31), Reece (25) should all be in their peak of their powers but all run very hot and cold and in my opinion to a man aren't good to put Lancs at the top table of domestic cricket. Then Kerrigan never recovered from that ashes oval debacle

There are reasons to be hopeful livingstone and haseeb hameed both around 20 have looked class at different points I'd just like them to learn along side a better calibre of senior player.

  16. Nearly 100 off first 6 overs was pretty explosive. On for 300 at that stage!!! Once lost Buttler thought they'd panic a bit like they panicked like last week but alls well that ends well.

So with a game in hand Lancs 1 point behind Worcestershire who are in 4th. But also need to keep both Leicestershire and Durham behind who can go past Lancs with their games in hand over us. Fortunately play both Leicestershire and Durham. Beat them both may just sneak in.
