  1. I reckon because it means more to their fans. Don’t underestimate how much we’ve psychologically scarred them in the 90s and 00s looking up at us in envy. I think in a way it’s drilled into their players how much more it means to them. Even though they’ve been better than us for a decade we’re still the be all and end all to them.

Considerably better team, obviously, but why will a side (probably) already champions and having a late season stroll ‘want it more’ than a team still chasing promotion?

Something would be very off if that was the case.

It shouldn’t be the case but if we’re all honest the fixture just means so much more to them (the players). Always has done even when our superior class was evident. This was epitomised in the away fixture, even factoring in the suicidal style we played, they wanted it more.

  3. I reckon we need 6 pts from the next 2 home games of hull/Coventry. Nothing for us vs the dingles they’re better and sadly will just want it more. Then if can draw vs nob end/millwall that should keep at least one or both of those behind us. Probably nothing vs Luton in the middle of it all as they’re just the sort of side/style we always struggle against.

When look at the sides in the play off mix. Ourselves, Luton, boro, millwall, nob end, Coventry, etc. Such a shite league. There’ll be 4 piss poor sides in the playoffs whoever gets there. In that regard why not us as one of the 4. Either way really need to be beating hull at home if harbour any playoff hopes.

  4. I wouldn’t say Mowbray was decent I’d say average. In the same way bowyer was average. Both steadied the ship following on from 2 truly dreadful managers. In time there will be no malice but he dined out on a division 3 promotion for far too long then made some shall we say ludicrous remarks about the fans that will tarnish him forever.

  5. If the Venkys put us back to 10th in the premier league with about £20 million debt, got the stadium back to the same standard it was and employed a functional board. Ie the same condition as we were in when they darkened our door I’d still despise them for putting us through years of hell. There’s no coming back for the Pune loons, too much damage done

Good interview with Coley here, if anybody is interested. It's with a United fan channel so it is mainly about his time there.

However, he does tell the Waggott story at 36:15 for a couple of minutes up until around 39:45.

He also briefly talks about Rovers towards the end at around 1:30:36, with some nice words about the club and John Williams.

And to think that very same rogue agent/conman became our ceo. That’s his greatest skill he’s a fraudster who has been rumbled a few times yet keeps grifting. Such a slimy world. Paul Elliot tries to con cole, swag cons both Elliot and cole, Ruel fox cons swag who’s presumably trying to con him. Years later some of the dumbest owners in football give him the keys to the kingdom.

  7. OT really isn’t fit for purpose as a ground. If sit in stand A under the hotel there’s a bar open, a burger van and an ice cream van but the nearest toilets are under the point a decent walk away. For those under the point they have the reverse issues. Member can technically use the pavilion but the queues are ludicrous. When it’s a sellout they try to remedy the toilet situation this side with portaloos but never enough to cope with a sell out crowd. Plus it really shouldn’t be the go to move for a newly redeveloped ground.

Currently if arrive on the tram side there’s no entrance on Brian statham way and need to go onto Talbot road. Unless already have a ticket and can cut in through cafe Nero. My membership card (and most others as far as I can tell) still hasn’t arrived so even though can piss around downloading tickets on to that app getting the 15% off concessions is more hassle than it’s worth.

The last time I came for a sell out game the t20 quarters I ended up in the dreadful kiddie stand (stand b). After the match they didn’t open up the gates there and made everyone leave via the Brian Statham way exit where we bottle necked under stand A. I noticed today all those exits were open for the Man U fans getting off the tram so they could have a slurp pre match. Funny how those gates can open when it suits.

It really is like the cricket is an inconvenience

OT has become a functional stadium and clearly geared more towards extracurricular activities such as the concerts and conferences. But by Christ with the red sheds, the scaffold monolith (when it’s erected) and this new eyesore it’s one of the ugliest stadiums in the world of any sport.

It speaks volumes about how they see the cricket side of things when after millions spent in redevelopment there still isn’t a ticket office fit for purpose

  9. I agree with roverandout in terms of the excessive coverage of the war in a programme it didn’t really belong to that extent.

If you wanted to learn more about the war in Ukraine or the very latest developments there’s 3-4 24 hours news channels dedicated to it and won’t have to wait more than 15 mins for a segment on it as an event of historical significance this is understandable.

However, for an England vs Ukraine football match it might have been a novel idea to speak about the opposition players learn something more football related. Of course they were going to mention the war but the pre match coverage was 90% war 10% football the ratio should have been the reverse, it was far too much.
