12 minutes ago, Hasta said:Alebiosu is 23 years old, has played over 50 senior games and cost us a fee. He's the replacement.
The cynic in me says he always was.
Β
Sign Alebiosu on Thursday and on Friday Brittain has suddenly downed tools, as if Boro had just emerged out of no where.
I suspect Boro have been in contact with Brittain for some time, hence why he was "close" to signing a new deal 3 weeks ago, which never happened.
The club will have been after a right back anyway but i'm sure they were aware of Brittain's desire to leave, and so moved for Alebiosu as his replacement, once it was clear he wasn't staying.Β
Let's not forget that the club instantly turned the whole situation back onto Brittain by saying he chose not to play. Now the majority of fans (on social media at least) aren't bothered about him going, calling him a snake etc. or "he's only had 1 good season". Job done from the clubs point of view.
Might get a loan from the prem later in the window as cover but yeah, Alebiosu is CB's replacement, 100%.
Β
Edit: Also, how many times do we sign a player and in their interview they say they've known about our interest in them for a long time. These things don't just happen overnight.

So, out of players we have signed/been strongly linked to over the course of the window so far (not sure if I have missed any): -Β
- Steve Kapaudi - No dealΒ
- Marwan Al-Sahafi - No deal
- Ryan Alebiosu - Deal
- Sidnei Tavares - Deal
- Dion De Neve - Deal
- Moussa Baradji - No deal
- Ethan Pye - No deal
- Cody Drameh - No deal
- Sean McLoughlin (I am regurgitating an old name here, I can't remember the name of who it wasΒ but sure it was another Hull player)Β - No deal
Prior to pre season starting, we'd reached 33% so already failed that expectation to ValΒ π€£
We were "in talks" with Ajax about Sivert Mannsverk about a week ago as well.

Completely agree, but of all the scenario's that could happen, this one has zero chance.
Brittains replacement is already here, and there isn't a chance on earth that we could get Gassama under this regime.
Correct. We won't be bringing in anyone else to play RB.Β
I don't see how we even could do, the budget is set, none of the money received for CB will be reinvested. We haven't budgeted for a new first choice RB.
Suspect, Alebiosu, Duru and Mongomery will be our right backs for the season. Carter at a push to play there if needed/injuries etc. allow for it.

Interestingly, why weren't the club so keen to negotiate a new contract with Hyam when we activated his 1 year option? Why not just sit down and thrash out a new deal at that point?

Montgomery look very good in the way he got high up the pitch and gave us the width wide right, similar to Brittain like. I would still like another right back bringing in like Cody Drameh with Championship experience and I would move him to midfield where he can be the box to box midfielder
I thought his interview was very clear and straight to the point. Sounds like he wants Travis, Tronstad and Hyam contracts sorting out quick. He is right by the way.Β
Heβs already said previously that he wants to keep Brittain, Hyam, Travis, Β Tronstad, Hedges, Dolan, Weimann, Batth and Forshaw.
how many of those is actually going to keep? Hyam, Forshaw and Hedges, probably.Β
3 have already gone, 1 more in the next couple of days and there are more rumours of Trav and Tronstad leaving than staying. -

Is Brittain definitely going?
Yes.
He won't sign a new deal here and the club "won't make the same mistake" (the irony) and will cash in on him instead.

Even a reference to the guy we signed on Thursday being able to come in and play straight away from VI
Not exactly a reassuring answer that they'll be bringing anyone else in, "no rush"
New guy and Montgomery it is then.

Β
No but the delusion that we will sell for Β£2.5m and spend all that on a replacement is definitely starting.
Where the fuck have they been for the last 15 years? (In a coma it seems)

Quite a few Rovers fans on X shifting the blame onto Brittain now it seems.Β

Yet i'm absolutely convinced if there was a contract put in front of Brittain 6 months ago he'd have signed it.
This is the problem time and time again and you can only conclude they don't give a shit or they are nudging them.
Agreed.Β
3 minutes ago, KentExile said:Could probably say the same about Travis and Tronstad too
Also agreed.
Now i reckon we'll lose 2 of the 3 this summer alone.
And then, we're in deep shit.

He's off, the club won't miss out on making a couple of million and alleviating some financial "burden" off the pack of fucking cretins that own us.Β
Anyone with half a brain has seen this situation coming a mile off, not opening contract negotiations months ago is absolutely unacceptable.
We've now got players forcing moves through to fucking Middlesbrough.
Fuck off Venkys, just fuck off.

Selling Brittain undoes any good work in the market so far.
Underlines the complete and total lack of ambition at this football club.

I think it's been a better start to the window than we've had in previous years, that's for sure.
Biggest failure so far has been losing Batth, that's a big loss. Big question marks over the future of Trav, Tronstad, and Brittain.
Given our limited budget, I think the fall back cover signings make sense but are not massively exciting. Equally it would be silly to blow the budget on squad players.Β
The two central midfielders I do think are good signings , only based on my limited knowledge of them. Our central midfield lacks running power and ballΒ carrying ability so those two address that. I think Trav will go but we'll prob keep Tronstad for the last year of his contract given he likely doesn't have a huge transfer value anyway.
No real headway made in attacking positions yet, but they cost more and were always likely to be additions made later in the window.Β
Think we need 4 more players - CD, Striker, RW, and a versatile attacking midfielder/winger type.Β
But we've given ourselves a good headstart this window whereas we usually have it all to do.
Can't say I have a great deal of confidence that the club will get this resolved.Β
And as this is probably the 1 signing of the 4 that was the most interesting, i'm not wholly surprised if we fail to get it over the line.

Doesn't help him that he was sent out on loan in January and then immediately injured for the rest of the season (knee injury if I recall).
Not even sure if he is fit now
Ah fairs. Yeah that wouldn't help, for sure.

He's a strange signing - you'd have thought he'd have been fast tracked to the first team.
Similar to O'Riordan, he just doesn't seem to be fancied by the managers. He'll have to be shipped out.
He was a strange signing, he arrived with a reasonable amount of fanfare, certainly for an U21's signing.
I was expecting him to play 1/2 season or so with the U21's and then be moved into the 1st team.
I assume he's just not that good.

That will be a few quid in the bank for them.

This guy a centre mid?
Baradji, Taveres, Tronstad, Travis, Forshaw, Montgomery, Buckley, Garrett
8! centre mids.
Buckley and Garrett you could see leaving but I reckon one of Trav or Tronstad are off as well

Its been reported that we only want one centre back.
Im not sure why people are presuming that we are going to change to a back 3/5.
I wonder if Silver Eze signing up has changed any thoughts? He wouldn't have signed up without a clear path to the first team, if he has turned down the likes of Juve and AC Milan.
Wouldn't be surprised if he was now part of the first team squad.
