Wharton out for the whole next season. So add another CB to the list of needs.

So I make that a GK, LB, RB, CB, CM, Winger, ST - looks like we need to fill every single position on what I imagine will be a negative budget.

    That's horrific news.

Probably means a contract extension for Fadz. As the owners won't pit their hands in their pockets for a decent replacement.

We never change the content of a user's posts, so please don't accuse the admin or moderation team of that. We're generally limited to changing a thread title or hiding posts. If Luca Toni appeared in a quoted post, either it was in the original post or the poster quoting you made the amendment themselves.

    I didn't amend it.

It was definitely a direct quote (twice in fact)

He signed some quality players at Birmingham like Luca Toni, Olly Burke, Dion Sanderson.

We should be spending £10m this summer with 1st choice keeper, striker and pacey winger being priority for me

Should be spending £10m but we won't get anywhere near that level of expenditure.

If you think we are spending that much, you really need to revaluate your expectations.

Or it could be that he doesn't suit Eustaces plan. We don't know.

Perhaps, but it doesn't bode too well that when we desperately need a goal to try and rescue something against Sheff Wed, Markanday, Moran, Chrisene, Buckley & Ayari were all subbed on ahead of him.

The only striker on the bench and he didn't get 10mins.

  5. Either Eustace doesn't rate him, or he just isn't good enough.

He's played less than 20mins since Eustace took over. He's not been subbed on or hasn't even made the squad for 10 of the 14 league games since JE took over.

He makes the bench, probably due to the lack of numbers available in the squad.

Honestly, I just think the answer is, he isn't good enough, unfortunately.

We must have the worst home record in the country this season, and I wouldn't be surprised if the worst record in Europe. Every team below us have taken points at Ewood apart from Stoke (the last time I saw rovers win on home soil). I will be going to the last home game with not much hope in my heart. We will have to  come up with something pretty special to beat Coventry.

Not sure about other teams but we've won a paltry 6 home games this season:

    V WBA (2-1)

    V Boro (2-1)

    V Cardiff (1-0)

    V Brum (4-2)

    V Bristol (2-1)

    V Stoke (3-1)

10 Losses to Hull, Sunderland, Leicester, Swansea, PNE, Leeds, Watford, QPR, ipswich and Sheff Wed.

6 Draws against: Rotherham, Hudds, Norwich, Millwall, Plymouth and Southampton.

It's all a bit horrific tbh.

Edit: looks like we have the 2nd worst home record in the championship (joint with, QPR and Watford (24 points)), Rotherham with the worst (20 points)

Leeds, Leicester and Ipswich (no surprise) have more home points than we have points (53, 52, 51) Southampton, Norwich and West Brom aren't far off either (48, 48 & 46)

I think a better question might be who do we expect to still be here if we go down - I think in spite of how they've looked this year a fair number of our players would attract interest from championship clubs and let be honest Swag isn't exactly going to be turning down bids is he. Teams will look at last season and missing the playoffs on goal difference as much as this season.

    Pears

    JRC - Wharton - O'Riordan - Gent

    Garret - Buckley

      Hedges - Markanday - Gilsenan

    Leonard

Bench of Barnes, Batty, Vale, Telalovic and some children? Something like that?

If Pears is our No.1, in either league next season, it'll be depressing.

He had time to kick the ball again. It was close to him. Once the ball bounced and spun away he was doomed. He's not that agile at the best of times.

Hyam played his part, over hit ball, on goal and bobbly.

That doesn't excuse Pears not making proper contact with the ball. Specsavers needed.

It had better be a Rovers career ender. He's an awful goalkeeper and that error is insanely bad.

Like you say, had time to kick it but actually avoided touching the ball purposely, instead.

The problem is that the next guy in line is just as bad.

Don't think it really matter which ones starts but honestly, I'd consider Leo for the last 2.

And that's not even all of his errors - it doesn't include the first goal on Sunday either, for example.

Might just be the angle of that video but I still can't wrap my head around how he's caught up to the ball and attempted to do nothing to stop it going into the net.

I know he can't pick it up but he does nothing.

I have now watched it (couldn't bring myself to yesterday) and oh my goodness.

Apparently there are people suggesting there is something suspicious about it on social media. I am not too sure myself, although he didn't seem to attempt to save it, after the error.

Yeah I can't work that last bit out either. Didn't even attempt to make a last ditch effort to save it.

Interestingly, though Hyam was also at fault, the first one to me is worse - because he keeps doing it.

I can't remember who but someone posted a short video of I think 5 examples of howlers he has made this season, and 3 of the 5 were him thundering out of the box, heading it to the opposition and getting lobbed.

Once is a mistake, three plus times is a pattern. I said at the time that Pears and Hyam shared the blame and I still stand by that assessment, if not more so now I've seen that clip.

Hyam definitely culpable in the first. Not really his fault for the 3rd though.

I didn't see the game yesterday, as I was on a flight and can't bring myself to watch the highlights.

I think there is a strong possibility that Coventry will have nothing to play for and just hope we can get the first home win under Eustace.

It is on a knife edge for me and I really do fear the worst now.

You really need to watch Sheff Weds 3rd goal from yesterday, just to reaffirm why Pears should never play for the club again.

And to think, people on here were actually suggesting him replacing TK as our No.1 was fine.

    He's absolute garbage.

There will be a few I’d imagine who would want to put things right and who are hardly going to have teams busting down the door to get them

    wharton

    jrc

    Pickering

but yes loads of changes needed regardless of what league we are in

I can't imagine there will be too many who want to put things right tbh. I doubt many of them give a crap.

Fair enough, I could see Wharton, JRC and Pickering falling into that category if I had to choose.

Still, I'd expect a good number will want out (assuming someone will take them) it'll be a huge turnover of players and I can't imagine Venkys putting much up for an overhaul.

I don't see us coming back at the first attempt.

  14. The ironic thing is, I'd expect a good number of our players to request moves back to the championship when we are relegated, as they'll say they are championship level players.

    Couldn't imagine any of:

Hyam, Hedges, Sigurdsson, Tronstad, Wharton, Szmodics, Travis, JRC, Dolan, Gallagher, Carter, Brittain or Pickering wanting to stick it out in league 1.

That's 13 players who would want out and I can't imagine the club would stand in their way as it shifts pretty much everyone on a reasonable wedge out of the club.

Leonard, Garrett, O'Riordan, Gent, Gilsenan, Buckley, Markanday, Telalovic, Vale and Batty are what we'd be left with 😬

I like Ayari looks like he has a bit about him. As for Markanday he seems to have been made the scapegoat by the manager for Bristol City as the other 10 starters in that game have started the two since it. And that is a big problem with the manager he doesn't seem to want to make any big decisions and drop some of the more senior players. Instead keeps faith in the likes of Hyam, Brittain, Gallagher, Dolan and far too often they fail to deliver.

Agreed on Ayari, think he looks a good player.

Markanday isn't good enough, has the odd cameo off the bench or plays well in a cup game here and there but he's not good enough. Probably doesn't help that he plays out of position tbf.

  16. -----------Like choosing which leg you want cutting off

    Brittain----Carter----Hyam----Pickering

    ----------------JRC----Tronstad

    Dolan-----------Szmodics-------Chrisene

    ---------------------Gallagher

Difficult to choose these days as the squad just let you down week after week.

Szmodics aside, we must have one of the poorest attacking group of players in the league.

    Fuck knows

I think we'll succumb to a tight defeat, probably 0-1 and then get absolutely rinsed by Leicester on the final day to send us down.

We don't know whether they will be any investment in the summer or whether Szmodics will leave or not. I think we will spend some money in the summer .

If you disagree fine by me.

very few managers and head coaches aren't going to throw the players under the buses when talking the media are they?

Under Eustace we had cut out the errors until the Bristol City awful and disappointed performance and result

Of course we know Szmodics will go in the summer. He's at his peak, he'll never be worth more money than his value is right now. That's the model the club has stated, repeatedly that they are taking. We buy players and sell them on when the valuation suits the club.

Venkys will not invest to the levels required, season on season has been a cost cutting exercise for the last few years.

No its not unfair or dismissive at all. We made all mistakes all season under JDT and Eustace. So not really evidence was it.

We don't know what is said at Brockhall and in the dressing room do we?

    non story for me.

Of course he cares about the result but he has remain upbeat and positive. That's his job.

I think he will be good manager here and given him the summer transfer window to bring in his own players, reshaped the squad into what he wants and pre season and I think we can get top 10 next season.

    Top 10?

What on earth brings you to that conclusion?

A manager with just 2 wins in 15 games, a really poor squad with horrifically weak mentality, selling our only goalscorer and no investment in the summer and you think we will get better???
