  1. I don't get it. 16 teams qualify for a playoff. So if Rovers finish the initial phase in 16th and Man City finish 1st we play Man City. What happens if Rovers win. Do we play the next from top to go through or the next from bottom. Would we get a different draw than Man City would have got if they went through.

Leagues with fewer teams will generally be less competitive in these terms. The best teams play the worst teams more frequently. That (partly) explains the discrepancy in the Women's leagues.

No they only play each other once home and away so the points per game difference should be smaller. If womens leagues were expanded it would mean more bad teams and less competition based on the way I worked it out

Premier league2 {U21s) has a similar number of fixtures and they work out competitive

    North 1.19

    South 1.4

And now the most hated man among females. The league will get there. I'd rather pour scorn on the PL looking at those stats. Thats where the money is.

Its the same all over Europe

    France Womens League1 2.22

    Womens La liga 2.133

    Womens Serie A 2.05

    Womens Bundesliga 1.86

    Serie A 1.55

    France League1 1.40

    La Liga 1.30

    Bundesliga 1.12

Womens leagues are the least competitive.

It's not a reflection on the standard of football

  4. Least competitive leagues based on the points per game the winners can expect to get v the highest place relegated team.

In order of least competitive to most competitive

    WomensSL 2.136

    Womens champ 1.86

    Premier League 1.71

    Scottish Prem 1.71

    National league 1.36

    Championship 1.239

    League 1 1.21

    League 2 1.02

So well done league2 on being the most competitive league and shame on the Womens Super League for creating the least competitive

Pretty poor showing from us. Thought Gillsenan looked decent on the ball but not involved nearly enough. Batty tried hard. Apart from that we just passed it back and forth without ever threatening.

A side note. Time wasting and a complete lack of sporting behaviour looked even worse at youth level than senior football. Not that we looked like creating much anyway but the amount of time Brentford wasted was unbelievable. Thought the referee was terrible in controlling it. Then there was an occasion where Eastham had the ball in his hands and was literally being kicked and shoved by two Brentford players. None of it looked like men against boys stuff, just pure petulance with a weak referee. Considering the level it just demonstrated to me even more how much of a slight on the game all these 'spoiling tactics' are. Something the authorities simply have to get a grip of. It ruins football as a spectacle.

As I said though, I don't think it affected the result. We looked toothless.

Totally agree 5 mins extra time. I was thinking more like 10. Ref took no action to stop Brentford's time wasting.

Rovers dominated possession but lacked any cutting edge (sound familiar). Brentford comfortably coped until Philips was sent up to disrupt them.

Anyway well done on getting this far

He is a Select Group One referee and predominantly operates on the Premier League and as a VAR as well as being on the International list. My only fear about referees 'dropping down' a league or two is that some think they are too good to do this and take this attitude into the game. We shall see.

My worry is these referees now rely on VAR to make correct decisions for them

How does the parachute payments work? Dingles on twitter have been quick to point out that they won't get any because they have gone straight back up again.

Assume they just got one last payment from the PL and the parachute payments would have kicked in at the end of this season, if they failed to go up?

Every Premier league club will receive an equal split of the unpaid payments so around 4 million each because Burnley and Sheff Utd have gone back up.

    Yes please, plus a Sheffield United win/draw and a Norwich win/draw 😀

I think that would mean a win and a draw would be enough for us, as long as the win was against Millwall.

My maths might be wrong though!

A Preston win would be better as the nobbers wont show up in the last game if they've nothing to play for

To be fair we have a full week between games ourselves. No excuses to be made on that score.

If it comes down to it which would you rather have. A home game and 10 days to prepare. or seven days to prepare plus a trip to London.

My point was that Sky determined this.
