  1. Sad state of affairs, but having worked in the debt collection industry personal bankruptcy / IVAs are such an easy way out, and the better the lawyer you have, the better the deal you can get. There are plenty of very rich people who run up massive debts, transfer their assets abroad or to family members then declare bankruptcy and start again.

The nastiness of some of those emails and texts isn't good, but they obviously aren't putting on what they sent to him either, I'd suggest the truth is probably more balanced.

  2. Liverpool fan I know had some questions relating to their game yesterday. After Liverpool equalised, they 'scored' a second which was initially given by both the referee and linesman. 15 seconds later they then changed the decision to rule out the goal for handball (rightly). There is a strong suspicion the 4th official told the referee to change his decision. I have no idea if this is true or not, but if true then surely it's against the current rules? If not a good case for introducing technology?

  3. My criticism of Thor is that it wasn't a superhero movie, more a love story. There was lots of totally ignored or very badly explained science in it. It was extremely predictable, and the enemy was not exactly hard to beat. I honestly thought it was very poor.I dont want to add too much detail as dont want to spoil anyone elses viewing, but as an example at the very beginning the scientists are going to a place where unexplained but predictable events where happening - nothing further was ever done to explain this in the rest of the film.

It was like it was left wide open for Thor2 but I doubt that will happen as the firs film bombed.

Watched Tyranasaurus a few nights ago, not the easiest film to watch given the content, but thought the portrayal of the main character was excellent, and the film full of drama. Well worth a watch if your not easily offended, but not a family / sit down and relax movie. Personally IMO removing the last 2 minutes of the film would have improved the storyline.

  4. There was another baffling refereeing incident in the Arsenal game.

Rovers break through midfield towards the edge of the area. Dowd blows up as Song is down on floor holding his leg. Result, bounce up - normally in these situations Arsenal would give the ball back to Rovers, but no it was contested. Rovers win possesion, Dowd blows again and then re-takes bounce up - Arsenal win that one, so its play-on now.

  5. Rest In Peace Ronnie.

I grew up on tales on how good Ronnie and Dougie were. Nearly 600 club appearances at his only league club, 35 International Caps and 5 of those as Captain.

    A true legend.

  6. Shay Given.

Lets not go overboard on this Barton kid. We have no idea where he is going to end up in a few years. If he makes it as a decent premiership player then fine, but lets not start crying that we let one through the net.

Shay Given was a yts kid at Celtic that Dalglish brought to Ewood (and bought him again at Newcastle) he didnt come through our youth system.

  7. Hindsight. It's a wonderful thing. It has 20/20 vision and is never wrong, and that's what you're using at the moment chuck.

Remember it's always easy to be critical AFTER the fact ;)

Exactly, we must have one of the better records for letting young players go, there's very few would ever have made it in the Rovers first team. The only 1 I can think of is James Beattie and at the time he was sold he wasnt going to get in the team anyway. Mainly because over the years we havent brought as many good kids through as the investment in the academy has merited.

  8. If thats the style of fare they are offering and the price then it's doomed already. It's cheaper than a greasy spoon transport cafe but with bigger overheads and I cannot imagine that the turnover will improve enough on the back of it.

It's been poor for yonks and this is definitely not the way forward in a village like Hurst Green. This type of business would fare better on a major A Road within a city boundary and near a large industrial estate.

Its in Leyland, not Hurst Green.

  9. It's my mothers 60th in May and she would like to go to Chinatown in Manchester for a meal with friends and family (including 1 very fussy uncle who will only eat somewhere that they do a "english" meal - i.e. no rice, no noodles Steak n' chips preferable).

Anyone have suggestions of the best place to go?

  10. I actually thought the article was very positive for Sam and Benni isn't getting it. Benni's convicting himself out of his own mouth. He admits that:

    1. Sam is a decent guy.

    2. Benni hasn't met Sam's weight and conditioning goals and that it is his fault.

    3. Sam is still playing him.

    4. Sam is scheduling him for extra training.

Agree 100% - the guy is being paid a fortune, and is overweight, so he has been given extra training to shed the pounds, whats the problem?

Should we feel sorry for Benni because he doesn't feel loved? Maybe if he lost the extra weight he could do more on the pitch?

It's not good that this has come out in the press though. As for selling him it would be madness - surely someone wants world-class Jason Roberts instead (am willing to drive to destination)?
