  1. I see from yesterday's match programme that Craig Short is the new manager at Ferencvaros. Of no interest to me as I was a teenage armchair Honved fan

Seems Ferencvaros are a part of Sheff United and have a few of the youth team players out in Hungary too.

  2. Went to see Inglorious Basterds tonight. Strange, strange film. Really enjoyed it but not sure what, if anything, I was expected to take from it. Some very, very dark and funny moments, yet nobody laughed. Some superb characterisation and a plot line that borders on farce at points. Go see it, a great 2.5 hours.

Went to see it last weekend. Its brilliant, but nothing like what I was expecting. In contrast to Paul at my screening everyone was laughing out loud, but many times I found myself laughing when other didn't, just at little bits all through the film.

Totally inaccurate and bizarre, but don't let that interfere with anything. Entertainment.

Worth the money alone for the Italian accents (3rd best at Italian :D ).

  3. Are these the same West Ham fans that the Premier League took into consideration when deciding punishment over the Tevez saga? If I remember correctly they didn't want to dock them so many points as to automatically relegate them as that wouldn't be fair on their fans.

Chuck both teams out of the competition for this and next season - (I doubt they'll be that upset at that anyway).

  4. A true gentleman, a football fan, a good footballer (I'm told) and a great manager.

I cant think of anyone within the game thought of so highly by everyone.

One of the few people for whom the title "Sir" was deserved.

Thoughts and condolences to his family and friends.

  5. Can I suggest we have a few more uplifting songs before kick-off and at half-time.

Stuff like Chelsea Dagger by the Fratellis, Lust for Life by Iggy Pop, and One Thousand Miles by the Proclaimers always seem to generate atmosphere (although this is usually killed by that corporate rubbish musak the premier league has imposed on everyone as the teams have to do the stupid handshakes all-round thing).

Oh and the drummer can stay - as long as he isnt allowed to bring his drumsticks. He kills every chant into the same tempo as "get into em!"

  6. "They were also told they may have to play two European games behind closed doors if their fans are involved in further incidents.

Feyenoord have three days to appeal the latest fine. "

So, if Feyenoord fans riot again through another town / city in Europe - stop a game and throw missiles at opposition fans and police, then they may have to play a couple of home games behind closed doors.

This is a club with a big hooligan problem - they have already been made to play European games behind closed doors before - and yet are still in European competition despite continued problems - and they are told if it continues we may make you play at home without your fans.

What kind of message are UEFA sending?

    ESPN

Feyenoord are "relieved" at their punishment.

I would suggest again that any English club with this problem would be barred from European competition - without any hesitation.

  7. I don't think any of them did well tonight - some were adequate (Matty), others poor (Jay) , but no outstanding performances to secure a first team place.

Duffer and Jonty were fighting for a starting position at the age some of these lads are, Dunny was playing - I cant see anyone anywhere near that level.

  8. Well done Lucas is what I will say - those morons who boo-ed him on Saturday obviously haven't a clue. Picture yourself in Lucas' position - playing in a foreign country with no affiliation for a certain club - who would you want to play for?

The guy is second on the rovers team sheet every week (after Brad) - has never been dropped - never given less than 100% - never said he will sign another contract - never lied to the fans (Bellamy).

He has been quoted as saying (in the Aussie press - I don't know how reliable this is) that he is financially secure so the money doesn't matter to him.

All I see is a player, not naturally gifted, who has worked SO hard at his game over the past 5 years or so, that now is on the verge of joining sides that are likely to be fighting for titles and cups. He is unlikely to get that at Rovers is he?

  9. So the Champions League group stages have finished and I was bored therefore I was having a look around to see what information I could get for a perspective away trip should we finish second in the group.

    Werder Bremen Germany
