That is a horribly untrue statement. Beckham was great for England up until 2002-2003ish where he seemed to lose the work ethic that had made him so effective, but if you have watched him in La Liga you would see that he obviously has that back. He has been the best player (by far) for a side currently top of La Liga, how you can possibly call that someone who is "yesterday's man" I don't know. He'll be young enough and fit enough to play in the European Championships (if we get there) and there is no reason to think that he can't sustain his current form and replicate it at an international level. McClaren dropping Beckham was a sad attempt to distance himself rom the previous management and it has failed horribly, much like everything he has done. The England team should be picked on a combination of form and overall quality, Beckham makes the squad on both and anyone who says otherwise hasn't been watching him at all in the past 4 or 5 months.

I'm not sure how much having MGP had to do with Bet 24 deciding we were worth a look, afterall they are also the sponsors of Leeds and, as far as I am aware at least, they don't have any Scandinavian superstars. -
Bias aside, Bentley shouldn't be starting. He's been very good this season, particularly the first half, but Beckham has been very good for Real Madrid under more pressure and has greater experience. If Bentley didn't play for Blackburn then none of us would be expecting or wanting him to start the game. His time will come, but right now he has to prove himself to be better then one of the best right midfielders in the world, who also happens to be a similar style of player.

Beckham will be there for the Brazil game. It's important enough because it's his recall, the first England game at Wembley and it is a joint squad for the two games. I think that was more of a warning for the future.

Reading will be well aware of the fact that many promoted sides have done very well in their first season only to struggle the next (Wigan being a prime example). Reading might well be predicted to finish in the bottom half (especially now that they have lost Sidwell for free), whereas we will not be, and I would not be that surprised to see them in a relegation fight next season. -

Not many players move between premiership clubs unless they are unhappy or it is one of the big four, so it isn't unusual that we haven't signed many players from rival teams. -

Performance related pay is a good idea and is standard in most forms of business, but I think it is a bit of a risk to start handing out shares of the profits made from players. You want your manager to be trying his hardest to get every player he thinks he needs to stay to stay, not having any thoughts in the back of his mind that he could double his salary if a good deal goes through. -

Old kasper can become very good, but you'll have to put up with a few years of poor keeping. -

Depends on how much you have to spend. Fraga and Enyeama are probably the best for relatively cheap but good quality solutions. -
Top 3 finish...miles better then I've ever done before. Very pleased, but I'm sure I'll be back towards the bottom next year. Thanks philly.

You do realise that this could well be one interview. Newspapers have simply used the same interview, picking different quotes and making the story their own. -

I won't judge him until I see an interview with him so I can see exactly what he says or until he is off. Until then it is all stuff being manipulated and passed on. I still can't see a big club coming in for him, I would be very surprised. -

Have to admit that I might be tempted to put in a bid for Yakubu, regardless of whether Benni leaves or not. He seemed a bit lost in the second half of the season and they are one of the few clubs in the premiership who I actually think we could "pick-on" like the big clubs do with us. -

People are always so quick to point out that Benni hasn't got many assists, but it is often his vision that sets up a move that leads to a goal (for example to pass to Warnock yesterday or the backheel to MGP against Charlton). He doesn't get any statistical credit for this, but he makes a larger contribution to the side then just goals. -

That is true, but that was at a point when they were fighting to stay up and they knew they needed him in order to have a chance. I think he'll be available this summer for a reasonable price and he is a player we should look at. He scores all types of goals, has pace and works hard (which seems to be what most people think is most important about a striker). He's slightly overrated probably, but that doesn't make him a bad player, he's a very good one and he's only going to get better. -

He's said time and again that he'll stay as long as we want him and I'll believe him. Of course if we accept a bid he'll be off like a shot, just like everyone in this side, but I don't think he'll cause any trouble and I doubt that any serious bids from the big four will come in. -

Totally agree krislu. Benni is one of our players this season who can simply say that he has done his job and done it well. If you want to look for scapegoats and reasons for why we aren't higher up the league then look elsewhere. -

Comparing him to Henry in his prime (who at the time was probably the best player in the world) is far, far over the top. People are being drawn in by the media a lot with Berbatov, he's been good, but not that special. -

It's a lot of money for a player and there isn't a reason for United to need to go for Berbatov at that price when there are actually quite a lot of very good strikers around at the moment. -

Ferguson will have lost the plot if he pays that much for Berbatov. -

I'd be willing to put money on the fact that if you do know a spurs player (why you can tell us all this and not tell us which spurs player you know) that he is messing yuo around. Berbatov may well end up going to United, but not for that sort of deal. That would make it a 25-28 million pound deal effectively. -

Ferguson has said he wants 3 players this summer. We know that Hargreaves must be one, I would imagine that he'll bring in a defender as well and probably someone to get them goals, but I'd think it unlikely that he would have identified Benni as that "must-have" man. -

I actually believe Benni when he says he'll let the club decide his future. He's said it from the start and I think as long as we want him to be there and a bid isn't too good to turn down, which I don't think will happen, then he'll be here next season. -
Once again wasn't a good year for me by the looks of it, although at least I will have got most of the teams in the correct half of the table (lot of skill in that).

I play a boring old 4-4-2 with flat back four and midfield with the wide players making runs forward. I then play with a defensive setting, short passing, high tempo and on a narrow setting. I change this slightly for some leagues, like in Italy, where I slow down the tempo and play with a deep defensive line, or I might get them to close down more often. It generally works very well and I'm reluctant to break with the tried and trusted, although I have been toying around with some new ones.
