  1. He's certainly playing well right now, but he'll need to do this over the course of a season and stay fit for long periods of time. Great to have him playing well though.
  2. I think he's an average premiership player. Unfortunately that isn't good enough for a side wanting to challenge for the top 6, particularly for a player of his type.
  3. Funny, if that had happened in the Middle East or had it done by an immigrant you would have considered it yet another example of their barbaric behaviour and why they are nowhere near as civilised as us.
  4. The new Madden is on its way to me. Hopefully it will be a bigger step from 07-08 than it was from 06-07. On a sidenote, buying games with the name in the title actually just makes me realise how was time goes by when I think that I was first buying a lot of these in 95-96.
  5. Really not sure to bother with Tiger Woods 08. Very good games but I have 07 and very little seems to change. I've always thought of it as a two year franchise for me, unlike games like FM or PES that I buy every year.
  6. I don't think you "just happen" to score 24 goals at this level. Don't know where you guys come off thinking he doesn't work. This was actually highlighted when he made a good challenge in our own area, possibly saving a goal in the process. I think some of you have formed an opinion of him and then just turn off. He links up well, he works hard for the team. Ok, he didn't have a great game yesterday, but as I said he wasn't alone in that. If we can create chances for him he'll score goals, as of yet we haven't created one for him and for me that is something we need to look at more.
  7. As did a lot of players. I totally agree and as I said before, he was no more off the pace for me than either Bentley or MGP. Had even one of those three really been on song I think we would have won by two or three.
  8. The day we start regularly playing Derbyshire or Roberts in front of Benni will be a very sad one. I tell you what, had Benni been on the field we would have had a goal when that chance fell to Derbyshire towards the end.
  9. Has anyone else read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy? I was told to read it by my sister and it has had some very good reviews, but so far I haven't really enjoyed it, I've not really liked the style. Is this how he always writes?
  10. Not the greatest, but you don't know what he was asked. He may have been asked "would you ever consider playing in Scotland" and came up with that, which to be fair is a rather diplomatic answer for both sides. As he is really only a squad player I don't really blame him for having the thought of a move somewhere in his mind.
  11. I think that's fine, but there are plenty who don't.
  12. Would you not go to the pub then if the games weren't on? I struggle to believe that anyone who regularly goes to the pub to watch games only goes because of the football. If they had gone to the game they probably would go to the pub after. The only real solution to this sort of problem is to use an American style system where the game isn't shown within a certain distance of the ground, but that is now virtually impossible with the various sources of tv. As for diverting money from Murdoch to the pub landlord, you aren't. The foreign tv will have legally purchased the rights to the game, so the big guys will have got their cut. The only thing you are doing is taking money away from the club. If you think live footy is overpriced at the current prices that our club is charging then you'll never be satisfied. I'm sure the majority of those who skip the game to sit in the pub spend just as much, if not more, in the pub then they ever would have at the match. It's a poor excuse. More to the point, if you want to encourage clubs to take steps to reduce prices you have to reward them when they do, if not they won't see the point. If you think paying an average of 15 pounds for a game (or whatever you can get now) is too much and there isn't a sufficient increase in attendances to make up for the reduction in price then the club will simply increase the prices in the long run. I'm not going to be really critical of anyone choosing to go to the pub or any pub running the risk by showing it, but if you are caught then I don't think you have a leg to stand on really. I certainly wouldn't do it.
  13. So they should just allow it to continue knowing full well that it is both illegal and a factor contributing to why people don't attend the games? If the clubs are unwilling to cooperate then it is the only way. See you there Phil.
  14. Wahey one more to the little working class man! If you want your club to be around in 20 years time then turn up and fill the stadium.
  15. Does anyone have Madden '08 yet?
  16. Well it either had to be in front of him or behind him. Until it is improved we can't exactly hide it. Great clip though.
  17. Not really the best part of the game, but it's ok.
  18. Chuck Berry is the king of rock and roll for me.
  19. It's a good game, although I feel you have to put in a lot of effort to get into it, once you have done that you'll enjoy it.
  20. It's ok matt...we won't judge you for liking them.
  21. The Strokes are ok, "is this it" was a good album. Linkin Park on the other hand are horrible, although I will admit to having bought their first album way back when.
  22. Agreed. It is a game that just doesn't quite do it, although I haven't finished it yet as I don't really feel like putting in the effort.
  23. He's probably talking about in all competitions, afterall Benni didn't score 20 in the league last season.
  24. Next summer he'll be 31? It's unlikely that many of the big clubs would still be interested. It is quite clear that Chelsea are the only big team looking at him and unless he hits 20+ goals again this season then I don't think they will still be looking at him next summer, even then I doubt it. He's worth keeping.
