  1. I went down to my village cricket ground yesterday to catch a bit of the 2nds, and I couldn’t believe the state of the field. It was brown and muddy, a complete mess. The boundary rope had to be brought in massively on one side because it was so boggy. It will need weeks of dry weather to get it even remotely decent.

I spoke to a few people, and apparently, Chorley hasn’t managed a home game yet because of how bad their field is. Grimsargh haven’t even been able to start prepping their ground yet.

    Spot on 👍

Hyam & Pears should both be dropped v Coventry. Both directly responsible for the 2 shambolic goals conceded, otherwise we’d have got a vital point.

Eusless is a weak manager though & hasn’t got the balls to do it.

I agree on Hyam, but who would you replace Pears with?

You don't need Jerome to find them a buyer.

I know of two potential buyers.

But you wouldn't want them at Rovers because the club would just be a feeder in an international stable of clubs.

If Venky's decide to sell the club, as they're unable to fund it, I'm guessing it would be their decision who they sell the club to.

  4. So my family bus, the Toyota Proace Verso 2.0 Diesel, is due to go back in July (I PCP and swap every four years), and I've been weighing up my options.

The GFV on the vehicle is £11,000. I did an online valuation and double-checked on Autotrader, and its value now is around £22,000. It's worth double what they thought it would be worth.

I've looked into getting another one as it's very practical, but they're only making them now with an electric motor. I'm not overly keen on getting an electric vehicle, but I looked into the specs.

The range on a Proace Verso EV is 135 miles, with a top speed of 80 mph, which probably explains why the price of the used diesel has increased! So, that's not an option for me as I need a longer range and like driving fast on the motorway. I reckon I'll settle the balance and keep my bus until it no longer functions!

Let’s not forget if we hadn’t have had McGuire in a Sheffield hotel for hours on deadline day, we would have had plenty more time to get the paperwork done. The reason he was there — “Rovers directors told Orlando they didn’t have the funds for the deal”.

Suhail/Waggott working against Gregg/JDT, perhaps. JDT must be pretty close to Broughton and has taken the piss out of Waggott in media interviews over the bus. When I watched those comments, I thought it was pretty clear JDT thinks Waggott is a fucking idiot.

Th IP address is currently not available. As you mention, a DNS fault would be a 10 minute job to fix.

The servers will be maintained by a third party and even a catastrophic server failure would be fixed easily enough in an hour or so.

In my experience there are 2 reasons for a high profile website/server to be unavailable for so long -

    1) Hacking

    2)  Service provider not been paid

I think the website is from EFL Digital. It looks like the same CMS and template as other EFL clubs. Their websites are all online, so I'd say we haven't paid the bill.

https://www.roverstore.co.uk is a separate e-commerce system on a different server, so that's still online.

I've made it clear many times why I have my doubts about Bazball and why there are other, well proven ways of winning Test matches and why playing attacking cricket all the time does not always work and why it's better sometimes to rein it in and play smart, sensible cricket.

I'm delighted England won today and drew an Ashes series they should really have won if they'd been a bit more careful and the coach, captain and individual players not made so many mistakes at Edgbaston and Lord's, which again I've explained many times. Beating Australia is always satisfying and while England did not not deserve to lose this series as seemed possible a few times in this Test, and did well to fight back and level the series in the end after being 2-0 down, it could and should have been so much better.

For what it's worth..... and you won't like this ...... but I have been watching England Test cricket for more than 60 years and although  there are some very good players in this England team there isn't one player who would get in my all-time England XI. This isn't a great England team - nowhere near it. It couldn't even take back the Ashes against a misfiring and ageing Australia team.

These are my opinions formed from decades of playing and watching the game. I don't have to keep explaining them and  I don't care if you don't like them.  And as someone else also told you on the football messageboard, no one has to answer your silly questions.

    Goodnight.

What's your all time XI, Jim?

  8. It was an amazing ashes. So many ups and downs, close calls, brilliant cricket and a bit of controversy as well to add to the tension.

England thoroughly deserved to draw the series. If we’d had Archer and Leach, plus Woods and Woakes from the start, I think we'd have won easily.

I'm gutted its over but also relived. I work for myself and have taken way too much time off to watch the cricket! 😬

The hundred starts tomorrow. I don't know about others but I'm just not that interested.
