Hughesy
Is this to play movies from your PC onto your PS3 without having any cables or anything? Can it be done?

It's ages since I set up mine, I can't remember what I did. Have you got your PS3 configured to use a static IP address? If not you need to do this, then configure the Firewall on your PC to allow all connections from that address. That's the main thing I can think of that would be stopping it at present. My PC cannot recognize my PS3, however my PS3 can recognize my PC I'd guess your problem is what I wrote above since that suggests we can rule out your home network as being the source of the problem. Most PCs will instinctively block connections from your PS3 because most firewalls aren't smart enough to separate a safe connection from a dangerous one. You'll have to tell it to allow your PS3 access one way or another.
brfcshabba
Agreed, I don't actually need the PC to see PS3. So we are all good in that sense. I have started to use a program called Twonky to link my android to my PS3.
