It's worth watching to see the growing anger at Pears time wasting but from 4.10 it's classic and just hear the Rovers Roar! 😁

That was worth a watch to see how pears lived rent free in the slime lickers heads. Although the biggest surprise is I didn’t know those yarkshire knuckle draggers could count so high.

Although one did go from 23 to 40 and fairly swiftly to 55 and 60. To be fair in the 20s these are pretty big numbers for the average Yorkshiremen. He definitely earned his gold star A for effort.

That being said I’ll add the caveat keepers wasting time does normally annoy me. I think they have 8 seconds to hold the ball but it really isn’t uncommon to see them hold it for 15-20 seconds and I’ve never seen it ever punished.

  2. Also why on earth are we playing with a kookaburra ball. Why can’t we just be proud of our own game. There’s surely a happy medium between medium pace dollopers taking 50 wickets a year and this shite they’re serving up where it’s impossibly to take a wicket and a complete snorefest. Death by Strauss.

  3. Warwickshire 443-1 against a good Durham bowling attack. The ECB are further ruining the game insisting on these “good” pitches. On the one hand they insist on the hundred to make the game fast, sexy and entertaining. On the other hand they’re feeding the narrative of cricket being dull by creating pitches where every match is a draw

    and that’s in April conditions.

I hope cricket Australia say it does count. Serves Lancs right. It was braindead selecting him when had already lost a full day before naming the xi and likely 2 other days. Actions have consequences a lesson Lancs don’t seem able or willing to learn in a lot of areas.

  5. Possible Essex might force a result, but all other games heading for draws. Derbyshire and Durham abandoned without a ball being bowled.

We play at new road on the 29th of September. I’ll wager that’ll be a weather related draw as well. There’s a reason cricket is supposed to be a summer sport not a spring/autumn sport.

It’s one thing to try and promote the 16.4 but in their relentless crusade to avoid it being a total flop they’ve totally abandoned the 50 overs competition, fucked over the county championship, undermined the t20 and don’t play international or any form of proper cricket in the peak summer months.

    The ECB need stringing up.

  6. You couldn’t make that tripe up. They’re nothing more than lower midtable premier league vultures circling round championship clubs in dire straits. (I appreciate the boot was once on the other foot for rovers). Wharton is definitely not a better footballer now than he was 3 months ago yet he’s now played for the u21s vs Luxembourg I think it was. He would not have played if was still here.

  7. Since day 3 in Ranchi it’s been an unmitigated disaster but jimmys 700th wicket definitely a high point. 9 to go past warne, 101 to go past murali, 300 for his 1000th test wicket.

We are 8/9 in the standings, and have lost I think 6 from 10 lost, with lost test at Manchester. Maybe, just maybe, this “Bazball” stuff is pure shite, and things like playing time, absorbing pressure, occupying the crease, keeping opponent in the field, the things that test cricket have been based on for 150 years are still important. Well at least to me. Maybe not to the yooof who need music and fireworks

I don’t want to sound too dramatic, but surely if we fail to get 4 points - as an absolute minimum - in the next two home games, then we’re as good as down given our run in, right?

No!!! Remember we played alright vs an injury ridden Newcastle in midweek. That’s like another 10 points.

We are basically a one-man team. He is a hero, a giant of a 5’7” man, truly a fucking legend of this club at this stage.

I’m not disagreeing and he is undoubtedly the best player in our team but the sad thing about it all is he probably wouldn’t make the top 100 best players I’ve seen in a rovers shirt. That’s how far we’ve fallen.

There is also the use of subs. JE has, since he arrived, used 5, 5, 3, 3, 3 and 5 subs and in the Cup game they were quite early.

Also clubs employ loads of staff to guage players fitness and workload and amend training at an individual level to that players needs.

Managers and coaches have been using the scheduling excuse for decades.

I am not an elite athlete nor ever have been.

But at uni e played Wednesday and Saturday every week. We won, lost and drew. Played well in games and played badly. There was never a point where on a Saturday where we said yeah played baldly today must be tired legs from Wednesday. Probably more the 40 pints between Wednesday and Saturday.

Off to watch Clitheroe today. They played midweek and most of the squad will have been up and down ladders for 40 hours week this week, plus training. I’ll guarantee you if they lose they won’t trot out the tired legs excuse. But when it comes to professionals the little darlings have tired legs.

It’s a convenient excuse perpetuated in the game, whether they believe it or not, because it’s convenient to keep in the locker for rainy day whether your citeh or rovers. IF we lose and it’s because we genuinely feel “ leggy” the first act Monday should be sack the fitness coach. If we even have one.

I don’t get it. Tell players they’re tired and they’ll play like it.

It’s a bullshit argument. No professional athlete should have tired anything 3 full days after their last exertion. If you’re the wrong side of 40 and spend all week sat at a desk while consuming galllons ale, maybe.

  12. For me he’s a shit keeper. Wigan away and Ipswich this season are up there with the worst individual performances I’ve seen in a rovers shirt. Did he have a good game yesterday - absolutely yes. Is he doing any more than you’d expect from a professional in the 2nd tier of English football - in my opinion he falls well short of what should pass for an acceptable standard for a keeper.
