  1. A lot of negativety going on and I can understand why... Although, if we do sign Adam, I'm pretty sure he will turn out to be a better signing than Johnson, has all the same qualities as him but more quality on the ball. I'd ship out Evans and Smallwood and sooner have these two, it would be a massive upgrade in quality and most importantly, two absolute bastards who hate to get beat. The sort of experienced leaders you need to get out of this league. I know people want fanfare signings but I think people need to step back and consider what we really need. Yes we need a centre half and a decent keeper, I think that will happen. We already have a good crop of great young talent and also players like Dacky, Rothwell and Lennihan in their mid twenties but I believe that we need not just experience but quality experience. You might feel down about us signing out of contract older players but I'm pretty confident people will be quite pleased wth these addtitions at the end of the season.
  2. Absolutely agree. Regardless of age, these are nowhere near the same level as Adam and Johnson.
  3. For people who know and are involved in football the choice should be simple. Want a big commanding keeper? Go and get Fraser Forster. It's simple, don't fuck about, call his agent and get him up here ASAP. There should be no other options. Get it done.
  4. I actually immediately thought... "him and Dack could be trouble"... I can see them two rat arsed on the streets of Manchester already.
  5. There has to be a goal keeper lined up surely if Raya is about to leave. For what it's worth, I think he's as good as he's going to ever be, he's not big enough to be a commanding presence. Or loud enough either, I went to Brentford, I never heard him once that I can recall he was yards away from me. I remember watching Robinson and Flowers and you could hear them from the other side of the pitch. Also, you've got to consider that we're also trying to bring through other keepers from the academy, which will be a waste of money if Raya is going to remain a bang average number 1 for us for the next 10 years. They've developed him, now they're making profit on him, as long as it doesn't end up in the bastards pockets and reinvested in the squad then it's a great move. I think people are being far too sentimental about him, he's easily replaceable and let's not forget... A complete liability at times.
  6. Need a better left back, Bell doesn't have and never will have a defensive brain.
  7. Not sure on this one personally. He was awesome at Norwich but since then... Certainly divides opinion of the Derby fans.
  8. Your guess is as good as mine but if we've moved on from Gallagher I can't see Assombalonga being more realistic.
  9. I can definately see why people say that but there's a decent player in there if someone can discipline him.
  10. Never mind Palmer, the task at hand is to replace Reed. That's a big loss.
  11. When I posted these I was waiting for some moron to post exactly this. Never played it but watch a lot of European football... Thanks for your brilliantly insightful contribution to transfer discussion though. ?
  12. Also, I'd have a look at Koziello at Koln. Moved from Nice where he was thought of highly but its definatley not worked out at Koln. His stock has fallen but at 23 there is definately a player in there if we can get him back to his early promise. Loan to buy would be a good shout.
  13. I'd be looking at Bielik from Arsenal. Can play centre half and holding mid, big lad, years in front of him but already has plenty of experience. Might be bigger clubs interested though.
  14. This Johnson one I'm not keen on. Seemed like a decent player at Norwich but for the most part has been trash at Derby. I think people are just choosing to look at his peak thinking he still has that ability but I think its long gone.
  15. If Johnson has been left at home then it would make sense that he's had a conversation where its been agreed that he should find another club. I don't doubt the Derby fan saying he's travelled up here but I recon it will be purely for talks, I wouldn't expect he'd just travel here and immediately sign, signings aren't that simple. Plus, his agent will be shopping him around to get the best deal possible.
  16. Didn't realise Johnson was 32. Surely Charlie Adam is a better option at 33, always been a miles better player.
  17. Have I missed something? When did he get promoted to the first team? Edit: Just seen the news
  18. Could be useful at centre half but I fear that only gives the manager an excuse to sqyeeze Bennett back into the team.
  19. Wouldn't be bothered to see him leave as long as his replacement is better.
