  1. I know I can't speak about hair, but dodgy cut on the head me thinks!!
  2. I'm with you on that one Modes. I had Shearer on a few jerseys and when he left, I resorted to Mr Sutton. Yes, you guessed it. He upped and went to London to score only one league goal for Chelsea in a full season I've never had a name or number on since!!
  3. Well thanks for the last few seasons and you will leave Ewood Park with many fond memories. I know you probably wanted a return to London, but why West Ham? You'll need luck down there and maybe you'll be up against our local rivals Burnley next season. We will continue to improve as a team under Mark Hughes and he tried in vain to keep you, but its your choice and the guidance of the might fat one 'Peter Harrison' will do you no favours. In fact you have done him the favour with his ever expanding pocket, never mind his waistline, but we'll survive. Thanks for your part in our progression in the UEFA Cup and if we get to the final I'll raise a pint for your contribution and will issue an apology on your behalf on your absence. Onwards and Upwards!
  4. NELSEN LOOKING TO MAKING RETURN TO ACTION. Looks as though it could be a good New Year with Rovers, despite the long-term loss to Steven Reid. The admiral Ryan Nelsen looks to make his return this season with the Reserves to-day, as they have made the trip North to take on the blue half of Glasgow in a behind the doors fixture. Rovers are fielding a strong team with a good deal of experience with a few senior members, such as Michael Gray, Sergio Peter, Dom Matteo taking part. Summer siging Francis Jeffers is also looking to make an impact against his former team as he tries to over-come his groin injury. Hopefully we can be looking forward to Mr Nelsen back on the field of Ewood within the next few weeks.
  5. It's a big blow to Steve. Always one of my favourite players and last season produced some great form, capped of with one hell of a wonder goal. He needs to knuckle down and work hard post-surgery. He's done well pre-surgery and hopefully it will speed up his recovery period and have him back for next season. Good luck and speedy recovery Reidy.
  6. He did indeed. The former Rovers layers currently playing in the Irish League are: Gary Hamilton (Glentoran) profile Lewis Hamlin (Larne) Steve Hawe (Coagh United) Peter McCann (Glentoran) Garth Scates (Ballymena) profile Jon Topley (Loughgall)
  7. Well you certainly aren't the 1st to label Gary as a 'clever striker', but infact former youth coach Rob Kelly described him as this. He certainly a potent striker, but not sure if he's the best player there. As MABP mentioned he lost his way with booze, fags and other vices and with that his desire left the game. However, he's made a remarkable turn-around this season and seemingly has got his act together. Some of the other best players are Alan Mannus (Linfield), Peter Thompson (Linfield), Kevin Pressman (Portadown), Kevin Kelbie (Ballymena United), Garth Scates (Ballymena United), Michael Halliday (Glentoran), Kyle Neill (Glentoran), Elliott Morris (Glentoran). I'm sure you probably havn't heard tell of any of them but you asked if he was the best! Larne also have former Blackburn Youth player Lewis Hamlin on their books. He travels over each week to play and train for them!! He's only managed the 4 goals this season.
  8. He's currently in the Irish League playing for Glentoran, after signing in July and is sitting on 29 goals already this season. When he left Blackburn Henning Berg got him a trial at Norweigian club Rufoss, but didn't work out and he returned to Northern Ireland with Portadown. He had an indifferent few season's at Shamrock Park, starting off brilliantly in his 1st two season's and later managed 5 caps for Northern Ireland in the process. There has been several references to his antics off the pitch and last season was frozen out by Portadown manager Ronnie McFall. However, when a deal was done to join Glentoran he work hard on his fitness before the move and has been hailed as the best signing this season. There has been a bit of speculation that a recall Northern Ireland senior squad and a possible move across to mainland England could be around the corner. Basic follow-up and recent photos since his move to Blackburn can be found here:- Gary Hamilton
  9. It's not too often that I agree with a female (joke), but 100% in agreement. Indeed my friend, I think Harrison is a jumped up little.... er big tw@t. He's been looking after his wallet for too long now and hardly surprising that the two players who are 'quite willing to leave Blackburn', are under the guidance of Harrison. I wouldn't blame the players for any article that have been written, but they are treating Harrison like a god and father-figure but they will soon realise that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Nonetheless both of the lads have played with their heart on the sleeve (apart from Lucas' gesture to the fans vs Nancy) anytime they've been asked to stick on their jersey.
  10. Rev, it's a tough call this, but handing the lad 3 starts and 5 sub appearances, then it's likely to say he wouldn't cut it as a player. It was a tough ask for him to be an immediate impact and when an offer of £1 million came in tow with an exhange for Kevin Davies, then it was impossible to turn that sort of offer down, as Davies was in great form with the Saints. I only seen Beattie pay for Blackburn in the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal and how could you suggest that he was never going t make it as a decent Premiership player. Quite ironic to see that we also had a young Given on the bench as understudy to Flowers that say as well!! That said, when I was approaching my last year or two as a teenager and living in Northern Ireland I had to resort to the match-day programmes as a source of information on Blackburns youth (cause Groobs wasn't in proper existance) and seen that both Beattie and Gary Hamilton were hugely prolific goal-scorers in the academy and reserves. Hardly surprising that they would go onto represent their respective countries at senior International level!! I think that youth have to be given a chance in order to prove themselves, instead of 'feeding them to the lions' and firing in a few appearances from the bench. I think that Debyshire will be dropped for the City game and if we are in strong control of the game then he will get about 30 or so minutes. He's a quality act and needs to lift his confidence a wee bit more and get rid of the nerves he seems to have in front of goal. No-one can fault his work-rate and he needs to start against Watford.
  11. Had to check the spelling of your name, but ABBEY i give up on this thread, lol. I did a wee bit of research into herb and know who he is now!!! Any more mistakes?
  12. One of those days then mate, i think it was one of those days when Lawrie took over the Northern Ireland job and lost 4-1 to Norway! Some wee sh1t called Gamst scored 2 that day! Do i make a complete ass of myself and ask is this Ronny or who is it?
  13. I don't know how to take these Norwiegan's with their sense of humour. Bjarte you have a good knowledge of football and surely you should know it's his son, Kasper. Never watched it, but good to see Garner still scoring despite the result.
  14. I was only thinking loudly. But all home games until at least the Quarter Final stages should be given at these reduced prices. For the away games and also for the bigger games, such as, Quarter Final's, Semi's and Final's should be priced at full rate. This way the club will still get better crowds in Cup competitions, and hopefully should gain in revenue with a bigger crowd going to the matches as well as an increase in merchandise.
  15. I feel that Rovers will need to do something similar next season with a slight reduction on both individual tickets and season tickets. I feel that an approximate 10% discount on this should be implemented for next season. I don't think that tickets should be over £30 in the Blackburn End, no matter what fixture it is. Cup games should be set at £15 for non-season ticket holders and £10 for season-ticket holders. Personally I feel that a fairly important issue that needs to be addressed is that Children and OAP should be paying no more than day for instance £7 per game and a biggish reduction in their season tickets. We should be looking after the future of our support and also a big thank you to the senior supporters for their help over the years and encourage a better mix in the ground. I've never been to Stamford Bridge simply due to the fact of their extortionate prices and I won't be lost if I never attend. I'm not tight-fisted but I hate companies who rip the stuffing out of things and Chelsea are one of those. I had a friend who used to be a box-holder, but I never took him up on any of his offers and I'm not regretting it one bit. Maybe I would like to meet Mourinho at some stage in Ewood. Get his autograph and tear it up in his face. No respect to Rovers, no respect to him!!
  16. I was also at the 2nd Simon Garner testimonial. I have the following programmes and if you need squad listings then PM me and I'll scribe them down for you:- • Simon Garner (1st & 2nd) • Stuart Metcalfe • Noel Brotherston. With regards to the testimonials, I felt that Big Col Hendry and Garry Flitcroft were very unlucky not to be granted one due to their long standing and loyal service. Colin done 9 years and 5 months whereas Flitty done 9 Years and 10 months. At the moment Brad has served 6 years and 2 months and with an approximate 2 years remaining on his contract, then it could be unlikely for him to gain one.
  17. • Florent Sinama Pongolle joined Recreativo Huelva on a one year loan deal with a vew to a permanaent two year transfer. Look likely that he will be taking it due to comments over the last few months. • I'm sure this is only a typo, but at Loughgall, it's Jon Topley not Torpey, lol. • Hugh Davey seems to be unattached after his side Dublin City folded about 2-3 months ago. He qualified from the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University majoring in Aviation Business Administration. • Former trainee Thomas Morgan is currently playing for Kildare County. He played alongside Damien Duff in Rep of Ireland U19s and came up against Argentine superstars Riquelme and Cambiasso.
  18. Tiny, was never big-headed or arrogant in that style. He was an absolute gentleman off the pitch (and probably on it as well, due to his soft nature). He was a decent enough player and arguably one of his best games was the 5-2 victory over Newcastle and lest we forget his memorable performance at right-back during the Worthington Cup Final. Anyhow, would love to see Dunnie back and who can forget the last game of the season when he was out injured and came down to Ewood to watch Rovers vs City instead of being at Birmingham. Quality stuff. As someone said it could also improve our attendances.
  19. All thats being reported is that he is out of action (matches) for a few more weeks, buts he's been training pretty hard overthe last month or so during his rehab. At the end of the day he's in the hands of one of the best physios in the league. A total gem in Dave Fevre.
  20. Any sentence will never be able to sum up how much we've missed him this season and a few of the games when he was out last year as well. I've never seen anyone as inspirational at centre-half, since the days of 'Big Col Hendry'. He really was our unsung hero from last season and was lost for words when he didn't win it. In away thought it under-mined his performances. Anyhow had a brief chat with him before the game and said that he will be out for a few more weeks and if all goes well, then he will play a few games for the reserves in January. Said it was a rare injury where the hamstring ripped away from his buttock. He's been very pleased with the rehab thus far and is eager to get back into playin again. What about the centre-back pairing of:- Nelsen/Ooijer. But Andy Todd and Zurab will also be lurking around there and we will soon have one of the tighest defences in the league shortly. Can't wait until it happens!!
  21. How about the typo on the club-calendar... David Bently. The players didn't even notice this despite signing 100's already. I was chatting to a few and they are going to try and rub the wonder-kid up a bit about the spelling.
  22. Is it my eyes playing up, or did Graham Poll actually kick Morten on his feet when he was down injured. I think he triedto persuade him to get up by seemingly kicking him on the sole of his boot!!
  23. Hi Pks, Yeah I was over for the game. There were 9 from the branch and it was great craic. A few had taken a bit too much to drink and knew what it was coming to. One of them even thought Andy Todd was on the pitch in 2nd half!! Anyhow, I didn't have a number to contact you on unfortunately. I kept an eye out for you and Nidge said he saw you in Holland going bonkers at the match!! Send me your mobile over a PM and I'll call you later. Trust all is well and you are set for the festivities. Talk soon. Simon.
  24. Biggest pile of w@nk I've ever read mate. What you watch one game and then judge Matt? I'm sure if you were present at any youth games or seen what he could do at Wrexham. In fairness I was disappointed that he didn't finish that chance and it was a bitter blow to the lad. It was his full debut but he worked his socks off and if he was playing with a big target man up front I think you would get a good return from Matt. As for the rest of the young lads. Eddie Nolan gave a composed performance. It took him a while to settle in after a few mistakes, but he came to light in 2nd half. Was turned the once but his link-up play down the right was very strong with some neat touches and passing. Who else do you want to criticise? Yourself perhaps!!! How about Jay. I thought he was very resolute in defence and had one great block in 1st half. In fairness Bentley wasn't too hot and hasn't preformed over the past few months.
