  1. We're affected by hearing outdoor newspaper sellers Tim, try practising with.. "Heavnin..tlgrf" Evening Telegraph "Mlakmurr...tam" Blackburn Times (for the benefit of younger listers) :'>
  2. Sorry off topic but an Xfm dj recently mentioned a tour of the Colleseum in Rome. The guide told of inter-beast contests including Bull verses Bear encounters. As the guide moved on to another subject, the dj was tutted by the rest of the group for his morbid curiousity in asking "yeah, but which would win?". The strength and ferocity of the bear is legend, with its sharp claws and handy teeth. However, if a bull got a 'nibble' in early doors, stampeding and giving it the full horn gore, would the bear still want to know? Maybe they had tag matches including Geese and Swans?
  3. As the hosts favourite artist, James Carr's music featured at a 40th birthday do I went too last week. Amazing voice (James Carr not the host).
  4. Found out too late to warn you Rosie but 'Westway to the World' was on BBC2 last night, have taped and not yet watched it all, but it's a 1 hour documentary with short live clips. According to Amazon (via the BRFCS link) The Essential Clash is live tracks with a few music promos. but you can buy the 2 together for £28.48 on DVD. They don't have The Essential Clash on video though.
  5. Confession time...........you know you are a lost case when buying 'The Essential : Simon & Garfunkel'. Maybe for nostalgia reasons, but there's some great songs on it (although still prefer the Lemonheads version of 'Mrs Robinson'). A newspapers 'Pops 50 best duets ever' was to blame as a reminder of S & G, but also including classic collaborations by: Iggy Pop and Debbie Harry, Morrissey & Siouxsie Sioux, PJ Harvey & Thom Yorke and Shane Macgowan & Kirsty Maccoll. Number 1 was the scary but good 'Some Velvet Morning' by Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra.
  6. Haven't had the pleasure of seeing either Rosie, but remember The Clash refusing to do telly (or was it just the BBC?), so Pans People/Legs & Co. having to dance to 'Bankrobber' on Top of the Pops. Even more scary though was the recent rumour of Bruce Springsteen fronting the band for Joe Strummer r.i.p. in a reunion tour!! Somehow can't imagine Brucey doing 'Im so bored with the USA.'
  7. It hasn't been reported exactly how much money the Gulf states consortium could cough up, but if Leeds have to go into administration, they are likely to do so before the end of the season if about to be relegated. If the receivers are called in after the end of the season, and they are classified as a Nationwide club, they could start next season on minus 10 points. If they avoid relegation, the situation would be different, as should top flight clubs go bust, the Premiership are to consider each case individually rather than apply an automatic points deduction. This is thought partly due to fear over the effects of a successful EC challenge to the Sky T.V. contracts, which financially could tip several Premiership clubs over the edge.
