OK, added Watt and Djorkaeff. Interesting to see that Jay Bothroyd scored again for Wolves last night, two in as many games. Maybe he has found his level? Remember him as an extremely talented player but seemingly with no idea how to use it. -

As it happens Fifester my sensibilities would have been very offended indeed if I'd ever had any. So count yourself lucky I was born an emotionless, shallow kind of chap...next time you might not be so lucky! PS - The thing that really annoys me is when people forget that the words 'no' and 'one' are actually two different words and suddenly the BRFCS neologism 'noone' appears... ...AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHH! Oh and Blue Phil...no need to stick a - in the middle of misuse! You'll be saying people have spelt 'facism' wrong next!!! EDITED - Due to drunkeness last night -

Usually I wouldn't mind but I am an English teacher. Actually...even worse, as a lecturer I dictate to other people on their misuse of the Queen's language! So I deem my seeming fit of pique to that...oh and having been out on the lash all afternoon. Anyway it's my first day back for six months (with very little drinking having happened in the meantime) so I'm back off out to the pub...and if you don't like it you can stick it up your A*! -

I will fill you in as simply as I may ... The word I was looking for was was not 'have' but...OF..yes... OF OF OF OF OF The word I missed out which was to follow 'of' was 'people' "Loads of (word missed out) people (missed another word - have)been calling for Beckham to dropped...when he gives it a try...others say "you can't drop Beckham!" It's because I was writing it quickly! What do you want me to do? Read it again and again? If you would like some kind of competition as a battle over our respective linguistic skills then let me know. However, your pathetic attempt to try and belittle another poster without any actual evidence shows what kind of (yes 'of', not 'have') 'person' you are. Tell me Fife...I've over 4000 posts on here, when before have you looked at my posts with such evident disdain for the syntax, lexis or content? EDIT - Jeez...you can't post on here jet-lagged and drunk without someone pulling you up on it!!! -

It's a friendly, he is trying new things. Everyone knows what Beckham can do. Proof that MaClaren can't win as England boss! Loads of been calling for Beckham to dropped...when he gives it a try...others say "you can't drop Beckham!" -

Something else for Burnley to be proud of... Interesting fact - Their keeper was at the centre of the first ever match-fixing scandal. http://football.guardian.co.uk/theknowledg...1839741,00.html Burnley are currently top of the Championship league...anybody remember Cool Claret's post when they top at Christmas and they really did believe "the gap is closing"! -

Think Derry City play all their away games in the Republic of Ireland yet are techincally in the UK...also Berwick Rangers are in England yet play in Scotland...I'm sure there is more. -
I remember Martin Taylor was being touted as a future Rovers captain!
-
After worrying myself about Nelsen leaving, I remembered Steven Reid. A while ago it looked like he might leave, a premiership club had put in a bid for him and he was stalling over signing a new contract. Tottenham must be a much more attractive proposition for a Londoner than Portsmouth for a Kiwi surely? So...hopefully the Admiral will be dropping his anchor and staying at Ewood Port for many a year...who knows...maybe he'll promoted to...ahem...Captain?
-
It's not the first time a story like this seems to keep on hanging over us like the sword of damocles...nine times out of ten it results in an unhappy end for Rovers. Hope this doesn't happen (the Bellamy on-off transfer/clause thingy has left me all worried about this kind of running gossip) and Ryan stays...besides, I agree, 5million certainly is too low for Nelsen.
-
Why does this story keep running though? Rovers have kept saying no...but Pompey kept coming back. ON many occasions when that happens they have recieved encouragement. Does Nelsen know that he would be offered much higher wages at Fratton rather than Ewood Park?
-
Saw Superman Returns the other night and, while pretty good, Shevchenko is right about Superman being a lame superhero. The lack of flaws means ever more ludicrous storylines have to be thought up to get him into danger. I'd rather Singer had stayed on and helmed X Men 3 though...it ain't anywhere near as good as the first two.
-
We can't afford to be trying to force unhappy players to stay - the Ferguson saga was a mess and we ended up getting shafted in the end. Nobody is happy that we may lose one of the best defenders we have had at Ewood for a long time but...we rebuild and move in...that's what we all get used to when we follow a side that isn't "a top team".
-
Partly true but remember that the top teams manage to keep on to their success by replacing their best players when need be. It's not necessarily the selling of the players that is the problem but who is brought in. It's just that bit more difficult for a club like Rovers as we can't afford many mistakes.

Updated the list and remembered Ardiles and Archibald from the 87/88 season. A quick Google showed Ardiles is managing Beitar Jerusalem (which must be an interesting post...) while Steve Archibald is putting his feet up in Spain. -
Rough Guide: Benni McCarthy A guide to Benni here, don't think it has been posted.

Not quite...found out that Yordi is at Mallorca...now that must be the bottom of the barrel! Unless anyone knows where the heck Sebastian Perez is?!?!? -

Just checked and he's at Boston United. Think he may have been at the Dingles at some time? Also...just remembered that Billy Mckinlay is a coach at Fulham. ...Billy McKinlay - Reserve Team Manager -

EDIT - List on next page. No there doesn't seem to have been a thread like this on here before although there was a recent thread on ex-rovers managers. Can't seem to find where Yordi is plying his trade, or whether Hakan Unsal or Javier de Pedro have retired. What about the likes of Perez, Marcolin, Andersson, Per Pederson, Valery etc? -
Fair enough...I haven't seen him much as a pundit being outside BBC territory. It was his after-game interviews I was recalling. Some of his anecdotes would no doubt be interesting if he was willing to tell them. "So I decked Gillespie and then..." would be part of an interesting recollection of his no doubt, as would 'Bellers and me - a Toon Love Story'.

After reading the news that one of the final links to our 95 side that is still playing, Jeff Kenna, has signed for a year at Kidderminster Harriers, I got to thinking about our other ex-players. Harriers complete Kenna swoop When it comes to our ex-players I like to know how they are doing to see if we made a mistake letting them go or to hope they are having a crap career if I didn't like them, such as the pie-popping Bolton forward and the wee wedgie shyte who now captains Rangers. So...I decided we could do with a list of where all the ex-Rovers players and staff are because...well, because that's the type of person I am. So here we go - are there any (and I'm sure there are plenty) that I have missed? Birmingham City - David Dunn, Damien Johnson, Neil Danns, Alex Bruce, Martin Taylor. Soon to officially be rebranded as 'Birmingham - Blackburn's waste bin for four proud years and flippin' well proud of it too!' Blackpool - Ciaran Donnelly, Simon Grayson. Tripe as a player, surely can't be as bad as a manager. Bolton Wanderers - Kevin Davies. Worse for us than Grabbi...that takes some beating. Burnley - Alan Mahon. Their flair player. Our reject. "The gap is closing! I says that gap is closing I tell thee!" Bury - John Fitzgerald. Charlton Athletic - Marcus Bent. Coventry City - David Mcnamee. Crystal Palce - Jay Bothroyd. Finland national side - Roy Hodgson (manager). Fulham - Ian Pearce. Everton - James Beattie, Lee Carsley. Grimsby Town - Gary Croft, Gary Harkins. Kidderminster Harriers - Jeff Kenna Kilmarnock - Gordon Greer. Leicester City - Nils-Eric Johansson. Liverpool - Florent Sinama-Pongolle, Craig Bellamy...he was great for us...we love him...he lied to us...we hate him...repeat continuously. Lyn FC (Oslo) - Henning Berg (manager) Luton Town - Mike Newell (manager). Manchester City - Paul Dickov, Andy Cole. Middlesbrough - Brett Emerton* Newcastle United - Damien Duff, Alan Shearer (as coach/Bobby Charlton figure/whatever) Norwich City - Peter Thorne Nottingham Forest - John Curtis Portsmouth - David Thompson. Their...ahem...BIG MONEY signing of the summer...so far. Preston North End - Callum Davidson. Rangers - Barry Ferguson. Sheffield United - Keith Gillespie, Alan Wright, Craig Short. A new one-year contract for one last crack at the Premiership has been offered, not sure if he has accepted. Sheffield Wednesday - Burton O'Brien. Stuttgart VfB - Markus Babbel. Don't like him either. Sunderland - Jonathan Stead. Sydney FC - Dwight Yorke. West Ham United - Christian Dailly. Wigan Athletic - John Filan. Currently waiting around like a tart on a street corner swinging their bags hoping to picked up are... ON FREES - Sven Goran Eriksson (well, he did sign a contract for us even if he didn't come?!?),Chris Sutton, Matt Jansen, Vratislav Gresko, Lorenzo Amoruso, Stephane Henchoz. NOT A CLUE - The whereabouts of Grabbi, Dino Baggio, De Pedro, Fettis, Diawara, Martin Andresen, Ashley Ward, Blake etc...even I don't have enough time to waste googling every single ex-player we had! I'll edit in any I have missed to have something to check for those who wish to find an ex-player. * - Not actually happened. This is known as 'wishful thinking'.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in Wales...well, ewe know the rest! -
Mike Newell's should be interesting...if he actually said about the reasons behind losing his job at Hartlepool despite them just being promoted, albeit that was almost all down to their former manager. When reasons were suggested on a Hartlepool messageboard I believe he threatened legal action so I won't bring any of them up on here! Added to that...there was a heavily publicised account of a time when Neil Ruddock started a fight with him in a restaurant...was what that all about eh? I'm sure he'd also have many stories that would show the lie to Shearer's drab 'Mary Poppins' image. Shearer's would no doubt be just as dull and unrevealing as his own interviews are.
