When Gerrard went to Rangers, they were miles behind Celtic. He not only closed that gap, but he also overtook Celtic, convincingly, too.

Time will tell if he’s a top tier manager or not, but you’d do well to find a Villa fan that’s upset he was appointed….

I don't think you understand the situation. Celtic were under serious pressure to win that one ,10 in a row, and burnt out/ran out of steam/buckled under the pressure. Made a bad managerial appointment and he capitalized. It was inevitable Rangers would eventually win one. Who else was going to?

I know a few that support villa and they were excited at the start and with his drawing power. Results very mixed so far though.

I think you're understating Gerrards time at Rangers Bigs, what he achieved and where they came from in such a short space of time was remarkable. I must admit I was shocked, I was writing him off as a manager before he even started, how that voice/dour demeanour inspires anyone us beyond me, but thats why I'm not employed in football!

    Remarkable? How so?

Not seen much of Whiteman to suggest he's any better than what we have. In fact he definitely isn't better than Travis or Rothwell, so he'd be sat on the bench anyway. Travis had him on a string at Ewood earlier in the season.

To be fair now Sparks thinks Dack was shite and that Mols was the next big player, so I think it's best make your own call on Whiteman. Looked fairly average to me and nowhere near what we have, as you mention. Maybe hes better than Davenport

BBD was out on his feet before he even went to his last Chile call up so at some point he needed rest and he needed help on the pitch. I think we've seen the pressure on his shoulders recently his body language has shown frustration.

The forwards haven't been scoring them though have they and the evidence always suggested they wouldn't it's more hope than planning. Even Mowbray seems to think if he says they need to step up they will, he's been in football long enough to know it rarely works like that.

Pecking order is a fair point to mention as there is an elephant in the room there in the shape of big Sam G, he's very high in the order. I'm not as down on him as some are but again it's like TM and the rest of us are just praying he hits a run of scoring.

So in my opinion in order to give us the best chance of keep competing at the top something should have been done that resembles something with a bit of scoring pedigree.

Any free agents available? Hopefully won't be needed. They seem a tight knit group. Hopefully a positive end to the season...

It was the shot yes, rolled his left ankle when planting his foot to shoot. He looked tired in the games before that but ligaments and ankles especially are tricky, doesn’t take much for them to go. Who knows if less workload would’ve effected things. My opinion is it wouldn’t, but he looked like a hamstring waiting to happen anyway.

Ya ankles are tricky. It looked a fatigued and frustrated shot I thought. He looked a few gears below since the last trip. They aren't doing great over there and all this new pressure seems to be on him. A break might be good. For him individually at least
