The whole thing mapped out, which is even more pinch of salt kind of guesswork because form will have changed by then, looks like this:

We'd finish on 76 points. More than enough for 6th I reckon.

Interesting experiment , but you could do it hundreds, if not thousands of ways.

The mantra for us is one game at a time. Milwall next

The key to everything is scoring first and the earlier the better,

For the best chance of this you need the best goal threats and creators on the pitch. GIles looks a good player, a lot of attacking is now coming through him but to date hes created nothing.  We need to go back to what was working and also have that impact stuff available from the bench.

Giles does lok good, but is he what we needed? I watched his assists for Cardiff and he had some big strong boys getting on the end of his crosses. Gallagher waits for the ball rather than contesting with defenders. I would go as far as saying he's soft. Wharton has gotten on a few recently, but he's struggling to keep them on target, Lenihan likewise. Ayala is probably our best player aerially offensively and defensively.

Pickering reminds me of prime Seamus Coleman. Keeps the ball well, is determined and has a good football brain. I hope he's back in on Saturday.

Strange as he never gets a game and must be right down the pecking order with wood joining . Although apart from Joelinton who can’t find the net for love nor money I don’t know who they have as back up strikers

Joelinton doesn't even play upfront for them anymore. He's midfield now

The only thing with BBD is that he hasn't scored in the last 9 Rovers games. I couldn't give a shit what he does for Chile.

He wasn't available for 2 of those and came off the beach for another

My bet is he will be back amongst the goals on Saturday

I don’t recall Gallagher playing on the wing when we went on the incredible run.
Looking at it, he was injured and not on the bench for the first 5 unbeaten, then from Bournemouth onwards (the next 5 unbeaten) he started on the bench for all of them.
The first game he came back to start I hear you ask…Hull away, where we lost 2-0 and ended our 10 game unbeaten league run, since then he’s started 4 of the 6 matches and we’ve (it was Gally) scored 1 goal in those 6

So I’ll stick with my post that you quoted… everyone can see Gallagher on the wing doesn’t work, except Tony Mowbray.

Bale didn't win loads of games at the start of his Spurs career, not saying Gallagher is Bale, but he scored  an important goal against Boro. I think he needs to attack the ball in the box more from where he is playing

Well your part of the problem for me, only having one way to play is absolutely killing us , why can’t we have a few different formations to suit the opposition. Do we really need three defenders v hull or Swansea?

Ya we definitely needed 3 against Hull because Travis wasn't playing. Had a few things go against us that night as well

Swansea maybe a change to 2 Centre halves could have helped, but we were missing attackers that day anyway. Brereton would have made a huge difference

Currently think the five at the back is too defensive. Need to get some more men forward

Nope. The formation isn't the issue. Just need to take our chances again

I was once out for months and months at uni with what I'd initially thought was a toe stub type of injury (admittedly what I 'stubbed' it on was a massive lad's huge foot). Difference being I tried to play through the match and again for a few weeks, and didn't bother getting any professional assessment of it or physio. Just kept thinking it would be fine again soon. Ended up being the beginning of my transition from injury-proof ever-present to walking sicknote (probably from resting as much as possible to avoid agitating it, which made the rest of my body weaker, triggering new injuries when I returned).

Thankfully, Brereton has a team of professionals and physios around him so I'm sure none of that will happen! Like you say, hopefully no major damage. We can't afford to miss him for more than the odd game (if that).

I broke mine stubbing it before. Was playing on an awful pitch and got it stuck in the muck. Hopefully Breretons is nothing major. I would be surprised if he missed more than 1 game

That’s why you have ball winning mids behind him, shouldn’t be an attackers job. If that’s why he is playing there so we can defend from the front then I give up

You're missing the point massively so. Man city and Liverpools attackers defend from the front

Wholly disagree, on another day we lose to boro as well, not as if we peppered their goal and they probably should have had a pen.
claiming bad luck in hull and Swansea when it shouldn’t be needed to put them sides away. Genuinely can’t remember the last very good display the team have gave. Think we have very different views on what’s good and what’s not. We weren’t decent last night at all, how many times did we threaten? We spell in the second half ain’t good enough for me, grab that game by the neck for the 90 mins, West Brom we’re there for the taking.

We won't win every game. Knee jerk formation changes back to what didn't get us here isn't what's needed.

By your metric that we could have lost the Boro game, we could have won the Swansea game. You can't pick and choose to suit your argument that we have been "terrible for months"

I agree WBA were there for the taking ,but they had attackers on the field who are individually worth more than put entire starting 11,first thing is don't concede l. Tiny margins in Breretons disallowed goal

Don’t you think the formation should be changing? We are utterly toothless as it is , not worked for months now

Jesus this is a complete over reaction. Months? We were decent last night and could have scored on another day , same against Swansea and Luton. Great performance against Boro

None of the things u have said are particularly needed for an attacker tho which is basically what he is at the moment , put him in the middle where his passing can be utilised after he nicks the ball , fast wingers where he can play them in over the top . Buckley ain’t very good at scoring ya know

He's more than an attacker though. Buckley is a midfielder when out of possession

Going forward I’d like to see bbd deployed in buckleys role in the hole behind strikers in front of midfielders, he is good at running with the ball and can pick out a decent pass, I see him very much in the mould of Matt jansen. Play gallagher up top in front of him , I know he isn’t a world beater but it’s gallagher best position not out on the wing. He needs a run up top and a chance to claim that for his own , if he doesn’t produce from now into the end of the season then we know we need a striker in the summer - we probably do anyway

You are underestimating what Buckley does. Brereton there would give frees away because he's not a good tackler. Buckley is great at nicking it

This stuff on Gallagher as well, he does play upfront. Even what Davies was saying last night wasn't right. There were times Gallagher should and could have attacked the ball, but he didn't. That's on him. One sticks in my mind where he was waiting to volley it and should have instead attacked it with his head at the point by where the defender cleared it.

Calling Travis ‘Lowe Mk2’ is an interesting flex. When would you have seen shithousery or crunching tackles from Lowe? The 30th of February?

    The 21st of never?

I thought Travis was one of our better players last night. He broke up so much..I actually thought a 6 from the LT was harsh. We missed him so much against Hull.

Whoever said he's Lowe mark too should be banned from the site 😉

Er, didn't quite pan out that way with Nyambe did it? He was far better than Lenihan would have been with all his reckless challenges and needless yellow cards.

No, he played very well. Far better than lenihan? I think you're being a bit over the top on lenihan there, he has been one of our best players this season. You speak of "needless yellows and reckless challenges" don't forget all the important things he does as well
