I think if you make comments like "we really are the pits" that should be on the basis of something that has actually happened rather than your doom laden predictions.

I would agree with you, if we hadn't had years of transfer windows where we push anyone worth a damn out and replace them with children and dross.

If you can see anything in the DoF era of Rovers to suggest anything other than a sell and not replace properly strategy I'd love to see it too.

  2. They keep injecting money in, but the question has to be asked how we're still hitting this £20m loss per season still, considering we strip closer to the bone with every passing year.

Nixon reckons they're still determined to get to the Premier League, but literally nothing they do matches with that thought process - unless a significant change happens, we'll be in League Two before we get to the PL.

The difference between the two though is that JDT's final 15 games (where he'd given up and wanted out) is at least comparable to JE's first 15.

Yes JDT has Wharton, but JE has had many players returning from injury.

Both should be criticised, absolutely. But I've seen nothing to suggest anything other than a struggle next season under JE.

Not only are JDT's games where he couldn't be bothered comparable to JE's, but a lot of utter dross we've had in years past have better records too. Any half competent manager could have got even one home win from the games he's had.

If the likes of Berg, Appleton, Coyle etc were sackable, Eustace is considerably more sackable. If we're in the Championship next season, he shouldn't be here. If we're in League One, he definitely shouldn't be here.

That’s because it will be. The team/club/manager relationship had unravelled under JDT to a point were  the relationship wasn’t retrievable. We were a rudderless ship heading for the rocks.

And we still are rudderless. The only reason we may stay up is because other clubs have beefed it, not because we are any better.

Barely seen it mentioned but the fact that he got sent off for fighting a player for the ball in a league that operates a multi ball system about sums him up, thick as mince.

It made no sense on any level, Palmer was being a prat but he'd likely have been booked either way, no need to get involved at all. It wasn't even with the clock ticking down that much either, there was about 30mins left. Bizarre that he felt that that was urgent and necessary yet piddling about with 5 at the back with even less time to go against 10 men wasn't.

  6. As much as I want Birmingham down, I think it's the Plymouth game we need to keep the biggest eye on as I think it's the one most likely to go in our favour. Rovers are more than likely going to get absolutely shafted, so we need one of the other results to go our way.

Fingers crossed - at least we're not in a position like last time where we pulled off a great win at Brentford for it not to matter.

IF we are lucky enough to stay up we should be all over Rotherhams Viktor Johanson. Reported release clause of just 1 mill! which is a snip for a relatively young quality established championship keeper (especially considering we paid not far off that for Wahlstadt)

We should offer them swede in return sending them Leo on loan for a season as they'll be looking for a keeper.

Kind of deal venkys usually purrr over. Relatively young(for a keeper!) low price, likely modest wages and still a lot of room for him to improve as a player and increase his value.

I expect Johanson will have far better offers than us. And even if he didn't, would he really want to be in another team that's just going to get battered game after game next season?

  8. We will have to hope that Leicester don't turn up with their shooting boots, because we won't bother attacking them. The comments of "hitting the target of 50 points" after the draw yesterday shows that. We will likely concede a bucketful and if Lady Luck is on our side then we will stay up because of another result, rather than our own (please let it be Big Club).

I always took those quotes as opposition managers' simply blowing smoke up their own arses after beating us.

I saw a clip from a podcast not so long ago with Big Sam and Tony Pulis and Pulis was talking about when Stoke got promoted to the Premier League. He said Sir Alex told him they needed to make their home games as nasty as possible, and if opposition managers started praising their football they were as good as relegated.

so what player changes would you make? would you gone 4-2-3-1 formation wise or something else?

Can you lose a centre back when Coventry was still play 2 up front?

If a 10 man team has 2 up front, they by default have less behind than they normally would do. They couldn't do that if we pushed someone up the field.

    I disagree.

Eustace is a fine manager - the problem is everyone is comparing him to an excellent manager that literally paid to leave the club. Said excellent manager also had a better squad.

There's also no way he's fired if we get relegated - they don't pay off contracts and he has a 2.5 year one.

What on earth have you seen that makes you think he's a fine manager? He's been dire with us and has been dining off of a short burst of results at Brum in the gap between clubs.

Arguably, Wharton aside, he has a better squad than JDT had because a lot of the injured players came back when he took over, and yet still he can barely scrape points.

Weird one, I think the commentators are right, I don’t think managers/staff can come into contact like that with players.

Crazy, he was just trying to get the ball back for a quick throw, but proper “rush of blood to the head” stuff for your head coach to do that. Poor reflection on him, shouldn’t give the ref a decision to make.

It's the kind of thing that I'd more understand in the 85th minute, rather than the 50th.
